No. 619 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT relating to the transfer for an athletic participation purpose of a student from the school district of the student's residence to another district. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 25.036, Education Code, is amended by adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: (a-1) Any child, other than a high school graduate, who is younger than 19 years of age and eligible for enrollment in grades 9 through 12 on September 1 of any school year may transfer not more than once for an athletic participation purpose from the child's school district of residence to another district in this state if both the receiving district and the applicant's parent or person standing in parental relation to the applicant jointly approve and timely agree in writing to the transfer for an athletic participation purpose. The receiving district may not deny a transfer application under this subsection on the basis of a child's sex, race, national origin, ancestral language, or disability. A transfer under this subsection remains effective until the child graduates from the receiving district, unless the child withdraws from the receiving district. SECTION 2. Section 33.081, Education Code, is amended by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: (b-1) The University Interscholastic League may not penalize or sanction a student for transferring to a school district for an athletic participation purpose, or penalize or sanction the school district that receives the transferring student, if the transfer meets the requirements of Section 25.036(a-1). SECTION 3. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2025. Any thoughts on this please? Thank you
  2. They said SOC was a machine last year to and see what happened to them.
  3. Problem the last time PNG played THigh was no stadiums wanted to open for a game because of Thanksgiving weekend. Claimed they didn’t have staff to work. They tried to play at SFA and Lufkin stadiums.
  4. This is what happens when the UIL screws with the teams that were in your district. It also has to do with the intermediate and primary schools needing more buses for their campuses.
  5. Ok. I might get some flack about this but imo I think if a student transfers in to a school he should sit out 1 year of all varsity sports. He must also live in the district in which he’s going to. He can play Jv are under just not varsity level the year he transferred in. They should not be any exceptions to the rule.
  6. Not only tough district but tough region. PNG is in region 2 this time.
  7. If we play again next year it won’t be a Semifinal game it will be somewhere in the regional rounds. They will end up in Region 3 next year with realignment.
  8. Any word today on their injuries?
  9. Just my thought on this is that the UIL should not allow teams to opt up. You play the teams that fall in your classification. Then everyone has the same advantage based in student counts.
  10. Sorry you have a wrong year for 1999. PNG went to the state game and lost to Stephenville by a score of 28-18. Art Briles was the coach of Stephenville and his son Kendall was the QB for them.
  11. Shae did play 2 plays Friday night. He took the last 2 snaps.
  12. Just a guess but I think the 6A cutoff is going to be 2260-2265.
  13. I will still call it Crook Thomas stadium.
  14. Texan live is suppose to stream free of charge per DCTF staff.
