They've said they expect him to be out quite a while. His arm was in a sling at the football banquet last Sunday.

Day nine of the countdown and it's good to know he's still in the area --living in Orange. Eugene Seale is a guy who could play in any era. Picture on the Lamar website is of Eugene and a guy who is about be in a lot of pain. [Hidden Content]
Westbrook and he was a DE in high school, I don't know if he continued in that role at ASU though.
How big is he and how long at ASU? How much elgibility left?
He was in this year's signing class at A-State so he hasn't played there. He'll be a junior and if released will not have to sit out because the Red Wolves (NCAA made them change their name) are in the FBS.

Lamar vs. McNeese St. Predictions?
becktobigs replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
SFA is the best team in the league but McNeese should be the toughest because it comes first and Lamar's team hasn't played together before. -
Streak reached 18 games before 8/10/2010 call-up. Lee is on bereavement list so I don't know if it's premanent of not.

Micah Hoffpauir spent most of last year sitting behind Derek Lee, got sent out at the same time the Cubs released Millar (dropped two LU Cardinals and my interest at same time) and never seemed to get his stroke back. Until now.... [Hidden Content]

Four SLC teams in the bottom 25 including dead-last Nicholls State. Nicholls, McNeese, SE La., and UTA. Go up a little bit to UCA and those five don't average what Lamar does & Lamar attendence has been down. Sad

Good guy. Just won't be the same with out old Dave Hofferth. Anyway, having games to broadcast outway's my preference of the play by play announcer.
Could not agree more with your thoughts. Harold Mann is very good at his job but Dave Hofferth is in a league of his own. I guess KLVI did in fact get the contract for broadcasting the football games. [Hidden Content]
Could it be that because Channel 4 got the tv contract with the university and Dave works for a competing tv station that there was conflict using him? -
Persohn verbals to Lamar football
Hopefully he will be 6'5" 290+ by the time he hits LU. Glad to know he is a good kid from a great family. I hope he also will be a beast on the field.
Found someone that I assume is his dad old press guide listed at 6'3" 253 and kids are bigger these days and weight should make him still bigger. Joe Persohn from Beaumont French is his dad??? -
Who are you asking about?

Tre Lynch of Lancaster will be at Lamar during the 2nd summer semester. The other Lancaster kid is going Prep school or JC. Can't remember. Does this mean it will be an 8-man class?
I think his addition almost guarantees that the DL will be our strongest group of players.
Time will tell whether Lamar did was a good choice but judging by his choices out of high school, you're right about him helping the D-line. [Hidden Content] -

Custer I think is on academic scholarship as I recall...so then who does that leave? Miles, Harper I hope...who else? What's the max?
I was wondering that myself. I think 13 is the max number of players that can be on a basketball scholarship.
The number of guys who actually make it to campus plus returning scholarship players can't exceed 13. There's no guarantee that all ten will qualify.
Thanks. Looks like HJ North! Donahoe Durley Benard Even got Gulley from Central, who was 3rd team All America as a Freshman this year and NCAA eligible. He averaged 18.5 per game.
He'll have two years left to play. Does he want to sit out a year and play at another BCS school or does he want to play right away at the FCS level?
He red-shirted in 2008. Unless that was a medical redshirt his options are two years at an FCS school (or lower) or one year at an FBS school.
just because we make remarks about lamar doesn't mean we aren't fans of the program. I am just telling y'all how I feel about the program right now, I am a die hard Seminoles Fan, I haven't missed a football game in 15 yrs, but you know what I wanted Bowden to go because he was hurting the overall program, it was time for a change, they needed a new young Face to come in that was cocky and had some swagger to him. I know sometimes the TRUTH hurts, but you know what Change doesn't hurt, there is nothing wrong with change, I mean people on here act like Gilligan is a Wayne Graham/Mike Martin type coach lol, because I tell you this much if Rice keeps struggling like they are this yr, you are going to here some whispers.
So running off Bobby Bowden is something to be proud of? lol, if anybody earned right to go out on his own terms it was Bobby Bowden. FSU should be ashamed of how it treated him. The expectations both schools have were created by the success of these men, successes that you seem determined to belittle. The turth (don't need caps to make it true) is that every post is some variation of 'you don't like Gilligan.' Oh yeah, if I read it correctly, Wayne Graham is a great coach but he better start winning more or you want him gone.
So the point of this is people questioning the baseball program are guys that don't go to 75% of the home games and aren't season ticket holders or a member of the cardinal club. That's a pretty weak defense of the baseball program. I guess everyone on here that isn't in high school or has a kid at a high school shouldn't comment or question or debate any sports team on here. They should just shut this website down if we can't talk about sports programs. The pro Gilligan, strength of schedule and so forth people have still yet to answer what is going on with the baseball program. I participated in your poll question, now tell us what your trying to obtain from this and what's the point?
The point is that the people trashing the program have more excuses than ticket stubs. Go watch them play and then come back and tell us what's wrong with them. I already know. The bullpen has been weak and the defense worse. And, for what it's worth, none of that keeps me from supporting them.
Well there aren't many I guess, since attendance has gone down hill in the last 8 yrs big time, alot of bitter people on here, when you get bitter that just mess you know it's the truth.
And everyone of them has excuses. If it wasn't the schedule, it would be something else.
Are you a season ticket holder for Lamar Baseball? N0- They don't play any teams that I want to go see, play some bigger teams than I would be. If not do you go to the games and buy Gen. Admission? Yes, I go sometimes when I can, and feel that its going to be a good conf matchup, I don't go see them when they play North Dakota st, Maine,Houston Baptist, Pan Am, Texas southern lol. Are you a member of the Cardinal Club? Nope, but I am ready for football, I would be if this was the FSU Club. Do you attend at least 75% of home games at Vincent Beck? Nope, 75 percent of the time they play a bunch of cup cakes that they beat by 10 runs and thats not good baseball its horrible baseball, I want see good baseball and playing houston baptist and North Dakota st isn't good baseball, I do go see them play when they are playing TX st, Sam, and UTSA.
I'm sure this is who LU Baseball Fan wanted to respond and all of the answers are predictable. baseball25 is not a Lamar baseball fan. A Lamar baseball fan goes to see LAMAR play.

*LU vs. West Virginia Game Thread..WVU WINS!!!!!!!*
becktobigs replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Take away our star struck first 5 minutes that we looked nervous as all get out (score was 19 - 3 then) and we beat them the rest of the game. I know we looked pretty sloppy at times and had some bad turnovers but we played toe to toe with them. If we hit a couple more threes like we usually do its an entirely different game. Jenna, Kalis, and AC were a combined 4 for 17 from 3 point land. We know they are much better than that. Darika did have a bad night going only 3 for 12 from the field. We also know that isn't the way she normally shoots. I think we played very hard and left it all out on the floor. Great season ladies and we should be contending again next season!
First ten minutes looked like a case of first-time nerves. WVU is good defensively but the Cards were getting the shots they normally hit and couldn't make any of them. Biggest problem West Virginia posed was rebounding. We got four offensive boards and night when we weren't shooting very well. -

Do you know what SOS means? Go look at Sam houston SOS 83, TEXAS ST SOS 102, Se LA SOS 79, UTA SOS 82, UTSA SOS 87, from last yr and compared it to LAMAR'S which was 202 lol Lamar schedule isn't even close to there schedule's so you can't compared them, the reason you are tired of the negative attitude towards lamar is because its the truth and it hurts.
The bottom line is that everything you post comes back your bitterness against Gilligan. I don't know why you feel that way (you couldn't possibility be that upset about the schedule) and I don't care. I await your next tirade.
You have to be realistic, and you also have to realize that he wants to see Lamar succeed just like everyone else. But, the only way we'll get a big is if we win the Southland, and I honestly couldn't tell you the last time that happened. I'm not saying it was 30 years ago, I just honestly don't know when it was. But back to the schedule, it's not exciting fans going and seeing Lamar punish bad teams. And if you think that's a lie, look at the differences in crowds between games against Rice, U of H, and then North Dakota St. If you're not at the game 2 hours before it starts then you're sitting on the end of the bleachers down the third base line. Like I've said before, they have to start going places and getting victories if they want to bring teams in. SELA just swept Mississippi State, Sam started off the season with a 3 game set at No. 9 TCU (And they are very far from Ft. Worth) I understand that Gilligan doesn't want to travel because he thinks they should come here.. But no team will come here and play Lamar when they could have just as competitive teams come to THEM. Saves them a 3+ hour road trip to play the same quality of teams. They have to start going places and playing. And not the typical Rice and U of H every year. We're better than U of H now, they'll keep coming here. Have to play a Big 12 team or two, or at least a Sun belt team.
He quit traveling to places that refuse to give us return games in Beaumont. Traveling to Austin or Baton Rogue doesn't put anybody in seats at Vincent Beck unless they give Lamar a return game--I'd take two-for-ones if they'd do it. If they're too good to come to Beaumont why go there? -
