1.
I wanted to share some thoughts but since it relates to more than one thread out there I decided to start a fresh one. On Dayton's first scrimmage, the Spring Lions: I thought the main issue was that when Spring came out onto the field they were pumped, invigorated, and ready to win a scrimmage from the 4-A school. On their first offensive possession they made two statements - they were excellent on misdirection and hiding the football and they could all fly. Face it, defensively we were reeling as during the first 30 minutes they were able to score twice while the Broncos could score only once. Then, during the second half, you realized that the hitting being delivered by the Broncos was beginning to take its toll. Don't get me wrong, Spring delivered some hits, too, but Dayton seemed to relish the hits while Spring appeared to be surprised and not at all appreciative. What became evident in the second half as we adjusted to their offense and began just hitting anything in the backfield that even might have the football, we got better during the contest and they did not. It was that simple. On Carranco: The kid has filled out. He now looks like a Carranco and not the skimpy shadow of his older brothers. I don't look for anymore "sky" kickoffs this season. Opponents need to be prepared to begin possessions after kickoffs at the 20 more times than not. Nederland scrimmage: Whether it be scrimmage or game, football between Dayton and Nederland are always knock down dragouts. I look for no difference this year. I will say this. I've seen a lot of Dayton football and this team looks awfully solid. I know last season a main concern was if the starting QB went down, but this year that is not a concern. We have a stable of receivers and some running backs who are led by a very good looking OL. They can open some holes and the backs we have can scoot. There may be some typos in this last paragraph because the frame jumps when you get this far into a post on this site. Thoughth someone would have fixed that by now. Out
Good post ! Spring was big and fast and their QB had a set of wheels , he broke out in the flats and turned on the after-burners and I thought he would be gone until little #85 came out of nowhere and nailed him to the turf. By the 4th qt. Daytons conditioning program was paying dividends as Spring players were hoping to get this thing over with .

I say-- LET'S GET IT ON!  :o
Should be a good one . Heard big Ned has a good team again. I think the Broncos can move the chain on almost any team this year, but our "D" is young and will be working on adjustments from the Spring scrimage. Ned wil be a good test for our team and make us better for week 0.  GAME ON !!!!!!!
 3.
How did fowler look? and the rest of the receiving core?
Fowler looked great ! Looks to be bigger, taller and faster than last year . Still makes hard catches look easy . While in motion recieved the hand-off and ran around the end for a TD.Offense looked crisp ,but "D" needs some work. Couldn't get any pressure on their QB and would leave big holes in the middle , but did tighten up the second half. I'm sure when we get into the real season some of the studs from offense will play both ways and take care of business as usual. For a first outing against a 5a team the Bronco's looked good !

They have some above average skill players, but this is no longer 7 on 7.
Lee has better skill position talent than anyone in this district. Whether that wins them any games, we will see. You're right, they don't have much in the trenches.  Or at linebacker. They had a really, really bad year last year and still nearly won district in track.  They have more speed and athleticism than anyone else in this district at the skill positions Again, that doesn't mean they will win a single game.
Speed & athleticism are important factor's ,but by themselfs won't win many games unless combined with very good coaching , intense training and a fierce drive to win coupled with team chemistry ! All are traits of the Dayton Bronco's. The Bronco's have been over-matched outside and inside the district many times and have come out on top. I do think 19 4a is getting stronger and this year will be very competitive .
 5.
I was at this game. Livingston had and should have won.
Get over yourself ! I was at the game too and the better team won . Dayton complettly schooled the Lions on the 2 min. drill under pressure while the Lions defense looked dazed and confused. Livingston had a great team ,but the team that rises to the occasion and perseveres to the end deserves the win everytime !
 6. Didn't get to watch , working the grave-yard shift - of course when I do file my report it will be a little biased I'm sure ! :)
 7. Sounds like Brenham is on the right track - one day they might aspire to Dayton's level ! ;) Ripkowski takes gold at state powerlifting meet Dayton High School senior Aaron Ripkowski, center, won the Texas High School Powerlifting Association state meet in Abilene, Texas, on March 26. I JUST GOT 1 QUESTION FOR YA BHFAN.................... ??? ??? ??? If your team gets "outsmarted" or "out played" on the field every year by a bunch of tards does that mean the team is athleticly "un-acceptable". ;) ???
Now that be funny !
 9. Only one Dayton school that didn't make the grade ( priceless ) ;D  things are looking up !  Question to BH fans does your new score-board go to triple digits on the visitors side. :o You might want to check that out before Dayton comes to town .  :-[

I've seen programs where the new coach has coached with the out going coach of years and they do pick up some good stuff ,but it isn' the same. I predicted last year that the Bronco's would start the season at 0-3 and got called all kinds of names by the Purple cool aiders ;D This year I would like to submit my "Broncos go 0-4" prediction :o you heard it here first folks ;D
How many times must yall get spanked up and down the feild? yall talk more crap than anyone and yall cant even get past the first round of the playoffs. We had a little trouble with the first round too!  Lol... :D I'm glad it's a new season! ;)
No worries the Broncos squeeked by a 4th place team by 4 points  ;D (Can't remember if Livingstion was in 4th or not) Yeah they are world beaters LOL! 16.
Would Kansas State be a good fit?
I think K-State would be a good fit . Bill Snyder took the program several years ago out of the cellar and made them a Big 12 contender with a Q- back from Baytown and now he's come out of retirerment  to rescue them back to respectability with recruits from SE TX. Cody would be a hero on K-states campus with alot of natoinal exposer .
 17.
Dayton doesn't have a rival because of its poor competitivness in all sports combined. Once they learn how to develope the other sports they may have a rival ,but when you beat someone in fooball every year then lose at all other competitions it's hard to develope a rival ship ;D PNG and NED are competitive at most sports and take turns at beating each other in all competitions thus the Rival IMO ;D Stir Stir Stir :o
Look to your Avatar for my response ! ;D

 22.
No doubt La Marque is extremely talented.  They are one of the most athletic teams in the state, if not the most athletic.  I would put them between 5 & 8 if they had the same staff as last year, because they return alot.  You're right, that somtimes change is good, but after a runner up finish last year, there's not much room for a better finish.  You add that, with new coaching, it will be very tough to have the same amount of success.  Usually a coaching change, takes time to get use to and there is no margin for error in 24-4A.
