La Marque vs. Manvel Hi-Lites...
jayhawk replied to xLmCoog88's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Isn't La Marque actually a drop down 3a team that elected to stay in 4a this year ? -
Where does the "Hill" portion come from anyway? I guess Barber's Swampy Coastal Plain just didn't have the same ring to it???
The Barber's were one of the original families in Mt Belview and then Warren Petroleum (aka- Gulf, Chevron,Dynegy, and now Targa )discovered the salt-dome hence : hill - The salt-dome pushes the mound 45 feet above the surrounding area .
If I remember correct, there was a hole in the score last year and it was on the Dayton side.
Way to clever for me I can't compete with that wit .
Take it easy Tyrone. Y'all need to worry about GP this week. Crosby will take care of the Dayton Donkeys when the time comes. Maybe this year we will let y'all score.
Is there a hill in Crosby ? Oh - I remember now - Crosby "the only hole above ground "
PS Dayton is going to roll Crosby like a pattycake
CougarTalk must of thought this quote came from Dayton - the funny thing is it came from a Lee fan who has seen both Dayton and Crosby play !

BH vs. Dayton: THE OLD RIVER SHOOTOUT
jayhawk replied to Tyrone_Biggums's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The whole offense were subs all of the 4th qrt. and alot of them were sophomores. We left our defense starters in because BH left all of their starters in on offense were not going to completely lay down. BH had alot more players on their roster than Dayton and most of them were bigger too I don't think participation is the problem. If you would utilize the passing game more and use those big tall receivers I think you could have a heck of a team ! -
Didn't get to see the game, was flying back into town. Doesn't sound like I missed much from a BH perspective...That's got to be the worst defeat that I can remember for The Hill.. Hats off to Dayton, obviouslty much better team than I thought they had, looks like they will reclaim the District title again..The National Anthem thing, is totally inexcusable in my book.. You should have your guys lined up on the field waiting for that moment.. Disappointed is an understatement..No way that should ever happen..and missing the Reggie Garrett tribute...I hate that happened..Hopefully their will be a statement coming out of BH for that miscue..Can't blame the kids for that..
Good post 99!

Defense is countered by offense ask Lake Travis ! I'm sure Brenhams defense is awesome complemented by their offense. Dayton's defense is awesome also and the offense is starting to get untracked and will peak in the playoffs again. If and when the times comes Dayton won't be intimidated by Brenham remember we had you down 17/0 in the third qtr.last year when two of our best players got hurt so don't get to far ahead of yourself there's alot football left.
-
: There's no excuse period unless your stuck in traffic or have an emergency for waltzing out on the field late- totally uncalled for especially in the light of R. Garrett and not to mention the National Anthem. The on-side kick is fine (dangerous gamble) it showed a no fear of Dayton's defense or a sense of panic, but its a legal play and it worked. First part of the game I seen at least 3 face masks and a couple of horsecollars committed by BH with no call( not to mention when our QB took a knee and a Bh player steam rolled him) it almost looked like the game plan was to do what you got to do to punish the Bronco's and if you get caught do it one more time. Lets get the fans, coaches and players rattled right off the batt and then when their head isn't in the game pull some trick plays and when they get on offense hammer em with what ever you got and by the time the smoke clears we will have dominated . Unfortunately sometimes the best plans go a rye .
Haha yea sorry for the hiatus....moved over here to Missouri City and finally got settled in enough to check on the scores. Almost fell out of my chair when I saw Dayton was 0-3. Saw game 1 against Elkins and the offense looked ok but turnovers were the undoing. I figured they'd have it together enough to beat Angleton and/or Eisenhower. Missed the 1st half but finally got to hear Wadzeck's call tonight right after half. Not getting to see the boys in person anymore kinda sucks but Ripkowski sure looks like one heckuva stud.
Our defense is extra special this year and Rip is a monster LB and every QB's night-mare as well as #65 D. Wright its going to be a fun season you really need to make it to some of the games though .
Trust me I will. The three academies all run a varied version of the spread option/wingbone and it suits them fairly well. The reasoning from the "athletic directors" at the academies is "it's a simple offense that allows us to be effective and competetive with our limited practice time as compared to other D1 programs. We can have an effective offense because it's all based around one play. We feel other teams don't see this offense enough anymore to effectively scheme it with one week to prepare and we can practice a smaller number of plays and more effectively execute them." Point is it was a good offense back in the day against less athletic front 7's but apparently doesn't work as well against "gimmick" defenses.
Rollinac is back ! Always good to get your take on the Bronco's !

Dayton rolls and BH got steam rolled ! BH has a huge team I would say the biggest team we played thus far. I can see this BH team getting their ducks in a row and contending for a playoff spot easy enough . Why you continued to try and run against Dayton and trying futile kick-off returns is beyond me and I wouldn't worry to much about those fumbles most of them was caused by Dayton knocking the holy crap out of ya . Good Luck in district -

The journey begins tonight! Good luck everybody, and drive safe.
If Brenham /Dayton both win district it will be a short post season for one of us - Since we are on the same side of the bracket together we would meet in the second round if all goes well anyway. The brackets pit district winners against runner-ups in first round and (D) winners against(D) winners in the second round if they both win the first round that is.
Ya, but this is how it was last year... 17-4A D2 1 seed vs 18-4A D2 2 seed 19-4A D2 2 seed vs 20-4A D2 1 seed Which was Brenham vs Manor and PNG vs Barbers Hill. My point is, Brenham and Dayton were both D2 1 seeds from their districts last year.
Yeah its kinda kornfuseing when ya got 4 teams from each district and they pick the brackets by winner and runner-up .

Some how when I think what the outcome will be of the Dayton/BH game - the color PINK comes to mind - quote: Bruce Willis ask the little kid in the movie "what do yu see " little kid reply "I see BH posters with pink T- shirts" !

Some people see Dayton as an 0&3 team with a dismal start ,but I see a team that dominated 3 very good teams for a big part of the contest. I like what I see and this team hasn't even begun to peak yet or come close to its potential . Don't look now ,but a monster is about to be unleashed on 19-4a. GO BRONCO'S ~~

They will both be D2.
I guess Brenham will just have to drop a few games and become the #2 D2 seed in their district if they want to go for the best 2 out of 3 in the regional final.
I would hate for the #2 team in the state to have to take an early exit when they face off under the radar unranked Dayton ! -
