Don't know to much about Crosby looks like they might be a little down this year the ambush they took from Ennis didn't help any. One player (Franks) shouldn't kill a program Crosby has a alot bigger gene pool than Dayton to draw from. Goose Creek is hungry and has a good team ! I think the Goose takes this one if they stick to what they do best-passing. --- By the way Ennis got spanked by Waco last week---

Dayton News - Sports Broncos’ offense in sync in 48-14 win Dayton quarterback Payton Ploch leaps over split end Jared Goss as he sheds tacklers on his way to a first down in Patriot territory. By JASON FOCHTMAN Published: 09.27.09 After a slow start against Kingwood Park last week, the Broncos came out firing against Goose Creek Memorial and tallied 28 points in the first half on their way to a 48-14 win in front of a packed homecoming crowd at Bronco Stadium Friday evening. The Bronco offense was firing on all cylinders while the defense continued their dominating trend. After trading punts, the Broncos (2-0 district, 3-1 overall) needed only three plays to get on the board after quarterback Payton Ploch quickly found Xavier Frank for a 28-yard touchdown after starting on their own 39-yard line. Ploch had a big night, throwing for four touchdowns and running for one more, totaling 313 yards of offense. Frank had another big game, catching five passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns. After the Patriots (1-1 district, 3-2 overall) drove down the field, the Dayton defense dropped Patrick Wood for a four-yard loss on third-and-four to bring up the Patriots’ punting unit. Xavier Baldwin came though the pack and blocked Price Jacob’s 45-yard kickoff attempt to give the Broncos the ball on Goose Creek’s 39-yard line following a Patriot penalty. Baldwin had a chance for another blocked field goal, but couldn’t get to Jacob in time. Again, three was the magic number as Ploch found Gamal Fowler for a seven-yard touchdown to put Broncos up 14-0 with 2:49 left in the first quarter. The Patriots answered back with a touchdown drive of their own. Cody Larson hit running back De Martie Allen for a 36-yard completion that lead to a 14-yard pass touchdown pass to Keithan Collins to cut the Bronco lead in half going into the second quarter. Ploch answered quickly with a 77-yard touchdown pass to Frank on a second down that brought lead back to 14. Following a turnover by Ploch, the Bronco defense came up big again, forcing another punt and allowing only 26 yards on the Patriot drive to give the Bronco offense the ball back on their own 36-yard line with 4:46 left in the half. The Broncos tacked on another score before the half after a 10-yard run by Ploch put the score at 28-7 for the last points of the half. Fowler broke free for a 24-yard run and Ploch added his own 18-yard run before cutting up the Patriot offense for the touchdown. Dayton continued to dominate on both sides of the ball in the second half. After starting slow to start the third, the Broncos scored with 1:53 left in the third when Fowler walked in the end zone untouched thanks to great blocking. That bought the score to 35-7. Early in the fourth, Goose Creek answered back with their second touchdown of the night capping off a five-play 77-yard drive, but by then the Broncos had the game well in hand. From then on, the Broncos used long drive to eat up the clock while continuing to put points on the board. Dayton scored again after a 4:25 minute drive that saw the offense go 70 yards that ended with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Fowler for his second score of the night with 5:15 left in the game. Baldwin had another big play, intercepting a pass from Larson and returning the ball to the Patriots’ five-yard line to give the Broncos’ offense the ball at the Goose Creek 5-yard line. After taking over for Ploch under center, Baldwin finished off what he started with a nine-yard touchdown run for the final points of the game. Though the Broncos played well, there is still room for improvement. Dayton turned the ball over twice and had 10 penalties for 72 yards in Friday’s game. “We’ve got to quit turning the ball over,†said Head Coach Jerry Stewart. While Stewart noted Ploch’s improvement, he also pointed out Ploch will have to do a better job of holding onto the ball after contact. Doing a better job of limiting penalties will also be a focus for the Broncos. “Only ignorance has you jump off sides as many times as we did,†Stewart said. “We’ve got to get better at that stuff.†Copyright © 2009 - Houston Community Newspapers Online [x] Close Window

I was impressed with GCM last year ! A quick hard hitting team that didn't back down even though they were overmatched. This year GCM is much improved so this should be a fun game to watch as the Bronco's need another good challenge to round the corners off. I think it will come down to defense and the Bronco's "D" will be to fast and strong and dominate the 2nd half. In the 4th qrt. we had Friendswood grabbing their knees and sucking wind, one more set of downs and the Bronco's would have won that game. GO BRONCO'S -----

Lets not forget that Kingwood park is 2 & 0......... ???..........OK it sounded good anyway !

Friendswood is a well coached big hardnose team with good speed and they play smart ! If your going to beat them you better bring your "A" game.-------

Some Dayton fans seem to have a short memory about last year. FW went to the State Semis and Dayton went to the State finals, remember? A good SEtx fan base wants to see both of these teams go far, I do. Good luck the rest of the season. How are your basketball and baseball teams looking? Ours look real good! Hey txcanes , every game Friendswood wins here on out makes Dayton look good and vice/verse----so go out there and kick some butt were going too !!!!

I was wondering how long is was going to take for you to come on here and gloat! Friendwood had a good big hardnose team and should make a decent playoff run again. We shot ourself in the foot to many times in the first half and let you get some easy points.3rd qtr. belonged to FF. 4th qtr. FF got the big head and Dayton almost came back and spanked ya! Our defense for the most part dominated the 4th. 3 interceptions,forced fumbles and run containment. Dayton was the faster team #7&#22 burning you for long ones. #11 for FF was a monster offense machine.---- good luck !!!

Places to eat in Dayton--- When you get to Dayton on 146 --- Right turn will take you to fast food land --- Left on 90 and right turn at RR tracks til you get to Waco & 1960 wil be JOSES mexican resturant {my fav } or you can keep going west on 90 and there will be a BESTWESTERN steak&seafood resturant on the left-- GO BRONCOS---

Its nice to see some level headed Friendswood Fans over here making some good points. We hope to win this friday,but if we don't we will chalk it up to experience to thrust the Broncos towards the playoffs. Thats why we schedule good teams that bring the best out in us. It should be a great game best of luck to both !------My take on SS vs Lake Travis last year would be Lake T. Because I think they had one of the best defenses in the state always being overshadowed by their offense. Now lets hope LONGVIEW can kick their butt this year----GO BRONCOS---

OK.... I've kept the WOS folks from "sugar coating" facts so don't you try and do it. Yes, I was there and Ploch did not go out "after halftime". He played all but the last 2 possessions of the 4th qtr. ////////////////////////////// I was there too! 2 possessions of the 4th qtr. not even close - he laid out on sidelines off and on the whole second half and some of 2nd qtr. he would go in for a play or two and come right back out then go back in to punt. Far as I know this is his first yr.to ever play Q-back as he has been one our best receivers playing in the shadow of all American AJ Dugat. Dayton has a complete new back field and was not as polished as WOS 's (might I say your dual threat Q-back is excellent) It will take us a few games to gel and get our offense up to full speed and when they do this team will look completely different, but that's what scrimmages and non dist. games are for.

At least I was on the Mustang sidelines instead of the Bronco sidelines. Oh, and I did donate $20 to the kitty for Mustang Athletics. Just ask Coach J. H.-------- Hey "W" don't believe him ! he tried to pull that $20 deal on the Broncos and we sent him packing because Dayton has a strict "NO AGGIES ARE WE " policy. :-\
