What I find great, looking at the first-team offense, is knowing that Shane will be coming back for us next year. Congratulations to all who made the list. -
Historic Playoff Run Over For Central

Congrats on a great season. I wish you success again next year (except for one game, of course ). -
I could see that. That would make a lot of sense for him if defense is really what he would rather coach. I hope you are hearing correctly.

Now THAT wouldn't surprise me.

WO-S defense to meet Gilmer’s high-powered O

I've learned never to bet against Hooks and the Chain Gang. Mustangs by 10 or more. -
By "way" I take it you mean $$$, right? ;D If he leaves, Lumberton will take a step backwards IMO. With the upcoming talent they could rebound in a few years though.

Coach Matt Burnett Article

"Even this year's seniors have to be enormously embarrassed that their last team could not become the first team to claim a victory at The New Reservation." Is this what people are referring to as what he should be ashamed of saying about the seniors? I would imagine that is a pretty truthful statement, unless the players really don't care about the team or the school. When you play you have to expect criticism. If you lose them all, you can try to freshen up and clean up the turd, but it is still a turd. You hae to face up for what you did or didn't accomplish. Don't coddle your kids in failure. I've been preaching that to my fellow Vidor fans for years. If you coddle failure, then they will never try to make you proud. A loser is a loser regardless of how you spin it. Being in 5A all those years proved that to me. Why do I say that? Because even though we have had several winning seasons in 4A, Vidor is still viewed as a losing school because of the 80s-early 90s. Once PN-G starts winning again, the perception will change. The Indian faithful won't mind the criticism then ... as long as they are eeking out wins. They are just crying foul because the media is still kicking ... only this time it is while they are down. -
A source told me that Jared had to have minor surgery on his knee at Beaumont Bone and Joint. It was a torn cartlidge or meniscus that had to be cleaned out. His doctor said that he could play again in two to three weeks. Jared could be close to full strength by the time district starts if all goes well. So, I'm praying for a quick healing process over here in the swamp.

*WO-S vs. Vidor Updates/48-37 WO-S Wins/Comments*

Chances are way down without him. I've heard that he is even better than what George was in talent. But that is just talk, although I heard it from a very reliable source. I'll post something as soon as I hear. Even if he can play soon, hopefully it will be sparingly so he can heal up for district. -
Don't forget Nederland all the games will be really good Yeah. The Vidor vs. LC-M games are always tough too.

Ozen, although I'd like to see the Jags take it instead. Don't get me wrong, I root with all my heart for my Pirates, but they won't have a the ability this year although we always have a lot of scrappiness in us. But, since I root for Central second I'd like to see them do it this year just to change things up. How is y'alls squad looking , Soulja1?

how does it look like for your team in 2009
RustedCutlass replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
We have a lot of players that are juniors coming back. How far they'll go will be determined on the field. I can never guess on these boards. This year was looking good until we snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. LOL! But yeah, we are returning a lot of talent, so hopefully we'll be contenders next year. -
Livingston vs. Vidor/Lions Win/ Comments

SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another season down the drain. Another look at what could have been. Oh well. Congrats Lions on the win. I hate the fact that you outsiders are even in 20-4A and I hope you lose in the first round and our GT representatives all go far. Same way I wouldn't root for Dayton in the playoffs, I won't root for you either. GO JAGS, RAIDERS AND DOGS!!! -
I am glad he can play but wonder why in other sports you have to sit the next game. Shouldn't there be consistency from one sport to the next ??? Maybe it is because there are not as many regular season football games as there are for other sports?

Is it? Hanna got ejected in our game against Lumberton and I heard he played the next week...

Lumberton vs. Nederland Predictions?
RustedCutlass replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
With Asa out, that changes a lot. Sure there are other receivers, but Asa is the go to guy for Kirby to throw to. Someone will have to step up, because I think Lumberton can manage the run and keep Grogan out of the end zone most of the game same as we did. (Calm down Bulldog fans. I said MOST of the game. ) -
Vidor vs. Livingston Predictions?
RustedCutlass replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Jake you are talking about a few Vidor fans not all of us. Go back and look at my post on the Ned-Vid thread. We lost because we could not defend the pass. We are as good as anyone in the district with our running game and run defence, but bring in a good passer and receiver combo and you know the outcome! > You are correct. I should not have grouped your whole fan base together based on the comments of a few. I agree that if Vidor had a better QB/WR combo that the game might have been different, but just think how good Nederland would be if we had some semblance of a defense! So, I guess it goes both ways! Actually, your defense looked a heck of a lot better than it did against Livingston. Not dominant, but they were at least effective. Of course Livingston has more speed than anyone in this district I believe. I just hope we find a way to slow Harris down this week, or this could get ugly. Our defensive line had better step it up and get in the backfield on Friday night. -
For the players' sake I'd like to see them pull one out. After all those years playing 5A schools, I feel their pain of not winning one game. I'd like to see them at least have a feel good game of the season to end on. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

*Nederland vs. Vidor Updates*DOGS WIN!!!!
RustedCutlass replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hurdleguy does not speak for all of us. While I do believe that there was a serious non-call on the the fourth-quarter interception, that isn't why we lost. We lost because we left our ground game. What was coach thinking? Our ground game had Nederland on the ropes in he fourth. We should have kept running and ground out that clock. We have one bad series running, where they stopped Peevey on 4th and 2 I believe, and they just abandon the running game once we get the ball back in the red zone? Why? We should not have thrown on second and 11. Give the ball to Pitman and let him pick up 5 + yards. The momentum was in our favor. But no. Throw to the endzone is incomplete and then we are faced with third and 11 with no choice but to throw. Nederland's defense was ready for a pass on third and long. Vidor lost because we left our bread and butter for a crap sandwich. Regardless of whether the call was made at the one-yard line or not, it never should have come down to that. Nederland capitalized on our mistake, which is what good teams do. And we are left saying coulda, shoulda, woulda for another year. So, good luck in the playoffs Ned. Hopefully we beat the pants off of you next year though. -
Vidor vs. Livingston Predictions?
RustedCutlass replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think Vidor COULD do a great job against Livingston. I personally think that they should play Reynolds more. He is a harder runner than Pitman, although Pitman has the speed, Reynolds has the size to get through and get some good yards, he just runs players over, doesn't let anything get in his way. The coaches are holding him back by starting Pitman in front of him. I could have sworn we rotated between Pitman, Reynolds and Peevey. Reynolds is big and bad, yes, but once we have that defensive front softened up by the middle of the third quarter, then you run Reynolds up their throat for four to five a carry. I like Pitman as the halfback because he is faster. Reynolds is a better fullback for the sure yardage. But that is just how I see it. And, as someone has said already, if we can contain Harris, Livingston's do it all player, we win. Their defense is porous and should play to our advantage if we come out strong early. We waited too long to get started against Nederland. pitman is the fullback, as is reynolds. they rotate all game. peevey is the halfback that gets 90% of the playing time. quirante and travis get the rest. as for taiback that is tate, dart, and pitman on occasion. Thanks for clearing that up. -

Lumberton vs. Nederland Predictions?
RustedCutlass replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think Lumberton wins a close one if they defend the pass well. Cardenas will eat you for lunch if you give him cushion. Grogan is good, but only average if you hit him low. Hit him high and it is your funeral. Lumberton by 10 or less. -
I just hope that Williamson isn't too beat and bruised up from football. We'll see. I haven't really started discussing basketball with anyone yet.
