This is yet another straw man. So the ignorant make the claim that a police officer should not shoot a guy with a two foot long knife. They turn around and say the same officer should bring a one shot electric weapon. If the weapon doesn’t work (and reportedly it did not) or if it misses, the officer is likely dead Don’t bring a gun to a knife fight… bring a Taser. A Taser is meant as a use of force to replace a baton. When I started in police work, almost 40 years ago, we had no pepper spray, and no Taser. We had our hands and a 26” wooden baton. If a person resisted arrest, and it was not a deadly force situation, the options were to put hands on him and strike with the hands or strike with the baton. That seemed crude to some people. The Taser is meant as a hands on weapon to keep from having to beat a man down. It is not and was never intended to be used against deadly force.

I hardly ever start a political thread and only comment on a couple but came here to post this about Gabbard. But it isn’t just Gabbard. The former deputy mayor, a lifelong Democrat, has come out publicly to go against his own party and support Dr. Oz as the Pennsylvania senator in the upcoming election over the Democrat, Fetterman. [Hidden Content] Tulsi Gabbard is hardly a strong conservative but even with her left leanings, can’t stomach the DNC anymore. I think she is probably 50/50 or a rare down the middle politician. Her problem with conservatives are issues like she is not a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, like she says she believes in it but then wants restrictions, etc. I am not sure where she will land, if anywhere, but it is nice to see her call out the silliness from the left side of the aisle.

They never had evidence. This was all about TV cameras going and TDS. Turn off the cameras for the dog and pony show and there’s not much need for a hearing.

Yes, the Democrats have become the party of freaks. I grew up in a time when the difference was whether affirmative action should correct a past wrong by instituting a new wrong or should we increase military spending over social services or vice versa. Both sides had valid opinions. Today for example, Florida just passed a law where elementary school teachers can’t discuss sex changes with children until they are 10 years old (which is still abhorrent to me) and the leftist Democrats are still screaming about it…. It is horrible that a teacher can’t discuss transgender and sex changes with a 6 year old!!! I don’t believe that many Democrat voters believe in some of that nonsense that is happening but they are either ignorant as to what is going on or they are so stuck in the home team that they turn a blind eye. Their argument? Hershel Walker says that he doesn’t believe in abortion but 10 years ago he may have helped a girlfriend get one. But what about stupid laws Democrats? We don’t care about that. We care that a decade ago Walker might have had a different opinion than he does today!! Remember that Ronald Reagan was one of the most popular presidents ever and yet he was a Democrat governor of California. Wisdom and experience allows for a change.

That sounds like great tactics and good job by the officers. Going way out on a limb…. and from experience…. it sounds like a domestic issue with suspect and the woman. She ran home to dad to get away. The angry suspect doesn’t care and went in and shot both. A murder suicide with the suspect using suicide by police?

I believe each district sets its own tiebreakers. I thought but could certainly be wrong, that the UIL stays out of that. It could be a coin flip or total yardage, etc.
