  1. Many or perhaps most of the appeals cases that I have read ask what was the intent of the law. Even for Constitutional rights, the question always comes up, what did the right intend to mean? The HOV lane is intended to cut down on traffic. Rather than five people taking five different cars to shop, go to an event, coworkers carpooling to work, etc., two could go in one car and three could go in the other. That move has now reduced their potential traffic by more than 50%, from 5 cars to 2. There is no ambiguity in the intent of that law. By being pregnant, how many cars did the woman reduce the traffic by? Clearly she should be guilty of the charge. The argument whether it’s another person is ridiculous because even if everyone conceded that, the baby will not be driving for several more years. Whether you don’t like the HOV lane, whether you think she should get a warning, whether she should get community service, defensive driving, etc., she should not get a pass for pregnancy. A judge is certainly within his authority to dismiss it.
  2. Oh yeah, they will trade some high value prisoner in this country or some kind of concessions that far outweigh what the US will get in return. Whatever Russia gets, it will probably be something that will benefit their country such as money, a valued spy, etc. The US will get nothing in return except for perceived political points for Biden.
  3. That argument is ridiculous and a straw man. It is repeated over and over however. No matter what she (or anyone else) did, there is the “right to protest”. When has anyone ever brought up that a person does not have the right to protest? That is an answer without a question. People do not want her arrested for staying in the locker room. That would be ridiculous. People here also had the same right to protest and free speech and many think that since Russia has arrested her and since she apparently has very little respect for this country, it does not offend them if she stays there.
  4. I have had mine for a couple of weeks.
  5. Intoxicated drivers are innocent deaths waiting to happen and it is an equal threat to everyone. You can lock your home, you can have firearms for protection, you can pay attention while in the public, you can avoid bad areas of town, etc., to at least lessen the likelihood of something bad happening. With drunk drivers…. there is no protection. I worked at accident one time where a guy driving a pick up truck and extremely intoxicated, left the roadway, veered to the left, went through a deep ditch and launched into the back of a house. The truck went completely into the den in the back of the house, striking a sofa against the outer wall which had a small baby on it. You might think, inside of my home I will be OK. Certainly in the back of the house I will not be affected by drunk forever. Guess again.
  6. Is “going out soon” at metaphor??
  7. I am choking from laughing so hard.
  8. Certainly I could be wrong but I think a lot of them are seeing a crash coming and they don’t want to be there when it happens. Or maybe they are just so good at their jobs that they are getting great offers elsewhere.
  9. There probably won’t be much on the autopsy made public except cause of death and maybe eventually toxicology. My guess having absolutely no information (except officers involved which is now public) but going by distance and incident, I would completely guess that about 10-12 shots fired. Of course it could be 2 or 20. I am also guessing 2-3 seconds. There will probably be people saying that if more than one sit then it was excessive.
  10. Things like gumbo, chili, Anasazi (or navy, red, etc.) beans, pulled pork, biscuits and gravy, apple dumplings and so on should just be assumed for SE Texas…..
  11. I cook Indian, Korean, Chinese, Mexican, Italian (who doesn’t) and even dabble in TexMex, Cajun, etc. My favorites to cook at aforementioned Indian Butter Chicken and Fish Curry, Chinese Mongolian Beef and Ma Po Tofu, Korean Budae Jjigae and Mandu Jjigae and Mexican Pozole.
  12. 😂😂 We have gone from police officers having to shoot and kill someone to Indian curry.
  13. Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken are about 95% the same flavor. TK has a good bit of onion where BC doesn’t have onions. I usually see more heavy cream in BC and most but not all BC recipes use pureed cashews. TM and BC are almost different versions of the same dish. I love spicy food including spicy curry. Some curry dishes obviously have a very strong taste (but awesome in my opinion) but some like BC or coconut fish curry are pretty mild. I make the coconut milk and fish curry once in a while.
  14. I have read that Indian butter chicken is the favorite “restaurant” meal in India and United Kingdom. It is almost stunningly good BUT…. it is a mild curry dish and the word curry turns some people off. This is a very mild curry and if somebody did not know what they are eating and you did not tell them, they might not know they were eating a curry dish. There is a very similar dish called Tikka Masala. It has lots of butter and lots of cream in a tomato sauce. Generally I am not a huge fan of tomato sauces. I will certainly eat some but isn’t a top 5 kind of dish for me. Butter chicken is so heavy in butter and cream however that the tomato sauce is almost like a background flavor like a seasoning rather than the main body of the sauce. I guess you could make it with anything but traditionally it is made with boneless and skinless chicken thighs. Because it typically uses Kashmiri chili for color and a tad bit if flavor, you can tone down the heat to almost nothing. I think regular paprika would probably be the same with no heat. Kashmiri chili in my opinion is about 30% as hot as cayenne. It is usually served over rice or naan bread. If you want to see what it looks like, here’s a webpage with several pictures. It is usually a light orange-ish looking gravy/sauce from a significant amount of cream and butter as compared to tomato sauce. [Hidden Content]
  15. To show the silliness of identity politics, I read where her coach said that if it was LeBron James, he would be out already. But because Griner is a lesbian and black, she is not. Uhhhhh…. isn’t LJ black? They are just so ready to throw their identity division no matter what. Maybe it’s her double minority status of being gay and black. “If she was just black or just LBTQXY, we could do something but hey, not both!!”. Otherwise it comes out, she is black so she is stuck in jail but LeBron James would be out in the same situation. Huh????
  16. Of the two officers involved, I trained one and supervised the other.
  17. And then the CYA sheriff….. this is what I got from his rambling response I have no issues. I can work with another. But the other guy apparently can’t. But I am not going to bring it up. I don’t know where his issue is but it is something but I’m not going to stir the pot. But the other guy sure has issues…. 😂😂😂
  18. When I saw a unanimous vote, I thought hmmmm….. Somebody on the council sure had to put it on the agenda. Why would they discuss something with no support? Then I read the article. The city council chamber was packed. You can bet whoever was pushing the issue, saw the light.
  19. I can almost guarantee that it won’t be a low level prisoner which is what she is. Anyone really think that Russia would trade for some Russian in federal custody for getting caught with 5 ounces of cocaine?
  20. Any port in a storm. When you are facing a harsh future, even a country you hate can be welcome or at least until she is back on American soil.
  21. I think of the press secretary. What a babbling idiot. That might be too harsh because she might be just repeating what she’s told to repeat. Maybe if she was on her own talking about something of her own interest, perhaps she could string a sentence together. It sounds like they don’t trust her to simply answer questions even with the White House spin and I understand that. You want to put your best answer forward. She cannot do it however and has to read off of a flip chart.
  22. It could and likely should happen. The Dems will go screaming off into the night again..,.
  23. Realistically, if Newton is going to pay for policing then the sheriff should hire additional deputies to cover it. The way he talks in the first article it sounds like business as usual and an on duty deputy will swing by Newton while on patrol. Of course he might not have explained it out the media didn’t report it.
  24. What a rambling bunch of gibberish by the sheriff.
  25. Maybe I missed it but did they say why the consideration to disband the department? Was it political like the mayor’s son was arrested or merely funding, etc.?
