With the obvious fact that I have absolutely no clue what they are doing or for that matter even care…… But also realizing that politics is politics and sometimes all about appearances….….. The dealmakers for PNGISD might still have just a couple of main candidates (or even one). What I find intriguing is the year as a mentor for Dodge. I don’t know about lately but I have read in past years that Todd Dodge is known for giving coaching seminars/clinics. And why not? If I had his credentials in any endeavor, I would be consulting or doing seminars. It sounds like they have arranged basically for a private one year seminar/clinic for whoever the new coach is from probably one of the most in demand opinions about high school football that is possibly under the guise of, he is here to help us as part of a search committee but while he is here……. Then toss in this.……. As you say as shown by comments in this thread (some from people who either claim to be or seem to be in the know), it gives the impression that this whole process is rigged. Simply look at the comments on the WOS new coach. Before he was ever officially named and particularly afterwards, the feeling from many is that the interviews and taking of applications was rigged and just a dog and pony show. What better way for PNGISD to hire “their guy” but take some of the stigma off of their back then to say, Todd Dodge helped us come up with this selection!!! Plausible in politics?

I know you’re using humor but….. While I wonder sometimes about statistics, mostly from how they ask questions to get a certain answer (are you still beating your wife? A. Yes B. No), I truly believe that a third of Americans think we are on the right track. I think their politics are that skewed. I believe the registered Democrats who think the Biden administration is doing a horrible job did not all of a sudden become Republicans or conservative. Many probably still think we should defund the police, cut 75% out of our military budget for more social programs, should “tax the rich”, etc. Their core beliefs haven’t changed but they have just come to the realization that this guy is a disaster. I wish it was just made up numbers, that would be encouraging.

I don’t think it’s a matter of being wrong but violating company rules if I understand the article and his comments. Also in this case, sex (I am assuming) with a subordinate tends to make it appear criminally and civilly problematic as well as the appearance of a scandal affecting ratings.

t makes you wonder about that 33% or so that think this country is on the right track. No matter your political beliefs, what party you vote for any other kind of technical data, who are these people that think crime, economy, supply chain, foreign policy, inflation, gas priced, etc., are heading in the right direction? I understand a political argument such as, in my opinion the Democrats will lead us out of this mess…. but how do you not know it’s a mess and is currently trending downward negatively in almost every category?

A crazy thing about discrimination or representation, it only goes one way. Going by population and fair representation, blacks should only have 6 players per team. Even assuming that we exclude whites and stick with just minorities, Asians should have 3 players per team by population. Hispanics should have 7 per team. Where’s the diversity?

The groundhog is going to see his shadow so we are not going to get realignment for six more weeks…….

Unless they have a law like Texas that if there is a ruling that it was lawful self-defense, you cannot sue.

It was unfortunately in Beaumont but really had nothing to do with Beaumont. They take Hispanic prison gang members from around the country and just happened to plant them in Beaumont in this situation.

Fake news by gateway pundit…. That is Beto O’Rourke’s rally……

No. I think 10 of my coworkers have shot and killed people and one of them twice about 20 years apart. I witnessed one. But…. they were officers, not a 17 years old, accepted the fact that the day might come and none were national news. American police have probably killed hundreds of people and inside of cars yet there is no notoriety to any to any of the vehicles and the actual vehicle would be meaningless…. unless it was being driven by Clyde Barrow with Bonnie Parker in it.

Cut my gun in half is a stunt? Who knows, maybe somebody paid him good money in the background to do away with it. even if they did, good for him. That would mean the free enterprise system is alive and well.

The owner can have anyone destroy it. Maybe he doesn’t want his hands on it so as not to make a show. The judge legally has to be involved as the property is still in the custody of the DA. I guess the owner and his lawyers should have consulted you for an opinion on what the owner wants.
-
Did you read the article or comments? The owner did do what he wants. Rittenhouse wants the items destroyed while still in custody of the court. The judge granted the decision at Rittenhouse’s request. The judge absolutely has to make that decision because the court has no right to destroy them because as you say, the owner can do what he wants. Again, what he wants is for the court to destroy the gun and clothes.

Was Trump Jr. politically incorrect or what?? 🤣
-
But look at the woke headlines from Yahoo… Kyle Rittenhouse gun from Kenosha shootings to be destroyed Judge Decides Fate Of Rittenhouse Gun You would think it is a forced final hit at Rittenhouse like, he wasn’t convicted but we aren’t going to let him get his gun back!!! Then you read the article and it is… uhhhhh…. Rittenhouse asked that the judge authorizes the destruction of all of the evidence.
-
That is exactly why Rittenhouse wanted it destroyed according to his attorney.
-
No but in this case according to the article, Rittenhouse wanted it and all of the.clothes he wore that night destroyed.

I know that was not your implication but school buildings do not make students. I was fortunate enough to start high school so many years ago (50 years) in a brand “new” and “modern” high school. I was in the first class that at no point had to go to the “old” high school. That school is about to be replaced with a bond issue and I’m sure the students will love the new school. But will they improve their grades? I don’t think so. New football stadiums, new turf, new scoreboards, new schools, etc., are all great but they will improve anything except looking at nice new things? In the same school district where I went to a new high school 50 years ago, they are still using an elementary school that is 110 years old. They also have a football stadium which is almost 70 years old and until last year did not have turf yet Nederland still managed to win 3 consecutive undefeated district championships on one of the last grass fields in the area from 2011-2013. (Of course some people claim that’s why they won …. something to do with moisture….) With their football tradition, nice home side (and crappy 1930’s visitor’s side) and field house/turf/scoreboard, PNG is still in a high school built probably 75 years ago. Shiny new things are nice and I’m happy for the people that get them. The clothes don’t make the person however……

And looking at the definition of a machine gun, I believe the ATF may be correct. I watched a video a few months ago about the trigger where a guy was claiming that the ATF was wrong but his explanation seemed to fit the definition of a machine gun. It would be like a guy telling you that water is wet and he gave you a glass of Kool-Aid and saying this is not wet. The main point of that video was that the definition of a machine gun is firing more than one round with that single trigger pull. The guy then demonstrated using a weapon with that trigger and making it appear to fire on full auto. Then he defends the multiple rounds by saying it is not a single trigger pull. He goes on to describe it by saying that to make the trigger function as designed, you have to pull the trigger one time and hold it against the frame to make it work. That sure seems to sound like a machine gun. The defense of the trigger is that the trigger and the recoil of the gun forces your finger forward and with your continued backward pressure, firing another round. It is basically the trigger version of a bump stock. At least by this one guy’s video, he actually says something like you have to hold continuous pressure against the trigger. That would seem to fit the definition of one pull because the moment you take your finger slightly off of the trigger to allow it to reset, the automatic feature stops. I am not against the machine guns, I think the ruling in Miller on the NFA Is an incorrect ruling which I believe was overturned by Heller and later McDonald in the Supreme Court. No one has either questioned those rulings as they relate to Miller or they have not been able to get such a case in court. In the Supreme Court case of Miller, I believe they ruled that taxing machine gun was not taxing a constitutional right because the owning of firearms was not an independent right but the right of a militia. Under Heller and McDonald in fairly recent rulings, the Supreme Court ruled that owning a firearm was an independent right and had nothing to do with a militia. Those two rulings which seem to overturn Miller in my opinion, which is what makes the current machine gun laws legal.

If I read federal law correctly (and it has be a while), ATF gets to determine some definitions. This is a common practice in both state and federal law. It is impossible to convene Congress to determine everything that is ever done on a day to day basis. A legislature certainly has the authority to make laws but in many cases they simply do not want to do so. If Texas Parks and Wildlife Repartment wants to change the limit on deer or ducks next year, should the governor call a special legislative session and have representatives in Congress determine how many duck should be killed? That would be ludicrous but there has to be a law in place that allows the setting of limits. So what both state and federal congresses do is delegate that authority to some agency. Examples would be that the Texas Department of Transportation has the authority to set speed limits, the county judge can order evacuations for an emergency and TPWD can set limits and seasons on fish and game animals. So when it comes to federal firearm laws, I believe the United States Congress has allowed ATF to set definitions or if not a specific definition, a ruling on if something meets a definition. It would be legal for Congress to pass along that authority and again it is done and common many times on the state and federal levels. Within that authority however a court of appeals or the Congress that gave the authority, can overturn a decision of the agency. I believe in this case the ATF has the authority to determine if something fits the definition of a machine gun. It appears as though they have made a decision that the forced reset trigger is a machine gun. By definition of federal law, a machine gun is the actual weapon or at the parts that can convert a weapon into a machine gun. An example would be that if you have an auto sear to convert an AR15 to a full automatic, You can’t simply take it out of the weapon by popping a couple of pins and claiming you don’t have a machine gun as the police approach. The sear is the machine gun definition because that is what converts it. So in this case it appears as though the FRT has been determined by the ATF to be a machine gun. I believe that is within their authority. As the guy in the first post/video states, there is a current case contesting that definition. Great, that is in what courts are allowed to do. The guy in the first video also claims that the ATF’s ruling violates their own definition. That is his opinion and if the court agrees, that will become the final ruling. But, he is just stating an opinion because apparently it is in the lawful appeals process. Whether someone likes or dislikes the ATF ruling, Congress has given ATF that authority. Under that authority I believe they can likely seize an item that is a felony at the moment. The only ways to legally stop that immediately in my opinion is an act of Congress (which simply will not happen), the US Department of Justice issue an order to an agency under their authority, the ATF, to not act (which simply will not happen) or a court stepping in and issuing a stay against enforcing that law/definition. My opinion for now is that the ATF has the authority to do what some claim they are about to do.
