  1. I keep wondering about this missing offense of Nederland. TC has a strong defense and has only given up 10 points in the last 5 games. In the 4 games prior to TC, Nederland has averaged 38 points per game. Maybe the last game was simply because TC has a pretty good defense and they came out with a good game plan.
  2. According to the article it’s not really a law. The only law requires a policy from the district and requires no punishment. The way the law is written it sounds more like an encouragement but not a requirement. Maybe there are more laws that apply but they certainly were not in that article.
  3. Besides those poorly delivered remarks, I thought it was funny that she was near no one but was wearing a mask, apparently to support the administration‘s policies or wishes on masking. The she removes it to make her remarks and then walks away without it. Look, I’m wearing a mask even though not within 20 feet of anyone but will take it off so you can see me. Then she walk away without it, going through the same space that she walked in a few moments ago. Talk about all for show….
  4. The article tries to imply (I think) that the law requires students to wear a seatbelt in a bus. It does not. What it requires is the school board to institute a policy telling students to be a seatbelt go. It has no penalty listed. According to the law posted in the article, the school board is supposed to institute a policy that says students are supposed to wear seatbelts but it requires no punishment. The law says they “may” Implement a disciplinary policy to enforce that. In legal terms, “may” means optional, “shall” means mandatory. What that means to me is that this law requires the district to have a policy to tell the kids to wear a seatbelt but they did not have to be any punishment against a student or driver unless the district decides to put that in the policy. Then you have a legislator, the Texas Speaker and the man who tragically lost his daughter and helped push for the law, are both angered because the law is not being followed. Unless they can find some different wording in the law, the part in the article only requires some words on a piece of paper (policy). It does not mention law enforcement action and it does not mention any mandatory punishment from the school. If I’m reading it right, it also makes it appear is that with the DPS trooper that they spoke with made a mistake. According to the article the trooper said that law enforcement can’t enforce the seatbelt requirement.’ The article then says, “But after further review we learned……”.. That sounds to me like they’re implying that’s a trooper is wrong. It says a trooper stated that law-enforcement cannot enforce it and in the next sentence says “but after further review”. The article then posts the law that puts all enforcement action squarely on the school board and it says they “may” create disciplinary policy. It is an interesting topic and it should be reported on. It looks like several people in the article really don’t know what the law is or what their policy is on both sides of the issue. It again makes me question reporting when it seems to try to make an issue where there is none. I don’t know if PAISD has a written policy. Maybe they do and the Director of transportation was just not familiar with that part. If it requires no disciplinary action, they have nothing to understand anyway except that they should inform the students to be in seatbelts. Sometimes I think reporters go into a story with the intent to try to make someone look bad for sensational news instead of keeping an open mind. Maybe a reporter is not going to it like that but aren’t really looking into what they wrote or what they are told. The important parts that I gathered from this article are, at least one person in PAISD is not familiar as to whether the district has a policy on seatbelts and the law requires a policy but requires nothing else including any discipline. Does anyone see anything differently?
  5. She is not with Houston.
  6. If anyone wants to watch the story about Allison Clark’s murder, I believe the entire thing is on YouTube. Paula Zahn did a story on it which was on TV about a year or so ago. I believe it has three or four Port Arthur PD detectives that worked on the case. I was with them in their office when they did a lot of it and they went as far as driving to Texarkana to follow up on leads.
  7. That wasn’t a random bullet though. That was an armed robbery.
  8. I am not surprised. I am surprised that it took only 6 months.
  9. And WOS……
  10. I was agreeing with you but using your post to try to show how really narrow life can be.
  11. 1. Some of those “facts” are very selective to try and make a point. It is like a person going into an investigative report but knowing the conclusion before he starts. He runs test, asks questions or whatever to get the correct response to fit the narrative. 2. The flu disappearing is one of the most lame excuses to try to discredit the seriousness of Covid. It is absolutely true that the majority of people that get Covid will recover fairly easily. It is still a very easily transmitted version of a Corona Virus (of which influenza is also) and more deadly, even if it is more deadly by sheer numbers.
  12. A second? I talk about timing all the time particularly and did so particularly when I was working. A car going 60 miles an hour goes approximately 90 feet a second. In 1/10 of one second her vehicle went about 9 feet. If she would have entered that space and 1/10 of a second earlier or 1/10 of a second later, she would’ve never been hit. When people get in a car accident and the other person ran a stop sign but maybe hit the back passenger door where no one was at, they will say something like, I was in a bad wreck but I did not get hurt or maybe got a couple of bruises. Yeah…… but if you had entered that intersection 1/30 of second earlier, we would be calling you a ride to the morgue. Life is literally that close in time.
  13. Yep. TC’s defensive line control the game, period. Changing the running back would not have mattered. You still have to have a lane to run through. A different runner might have gotten a few more yards but would not have been a game changer. Nederland came into the game probably averaging over 300 yards a game. Their offensive line simply did not match up with Texas City. After the rain shortened WOS game they are averaging 38 in the 4 game before TC. Even with the defensive shutout by TC, Nederland is still averaging 30 points a game in the last five games. I’m not sure why some people have a hard time saying that we just ran into a tougher team on that night and move on. I never predict high school football games. For all I know a Dayton might win 68-0 but I wouldn’t take much from the Texas City game. In their last five games they’ve given up 10 points on defense.
  14. Intercepted at Nederland 30
  15. Punt to Nederland who gets the ball at own 26
  16. TC has 4-1 from Nederland 48. They try to draw Nederland off sides, then TC calls time out.
  17. On 4-20, pass incomplete and ball over on downs to TC 2:21, TC 14-2
  18. TC punts on 4-19 from TC 45 Nederland ball at 27
  19. Nederland punts on 4-17. Touchback.
  20. End of 3, TC 14-2
  21. Now 4-10 punt is returned to TC 43 TC 14-2
  22. TC has 4–15 and punt is blocked for touchdown but Nederland called for offsides
  23. The refs have totally blown a couple of calls but the Texas City defensive line is controlling the game.
  24. Nederland has 4-9. TC gets the ball on a turnover on downs from the 11
