Last big push that I remember was from the 2019 legislative session. I believe there was an amendment to add to the Sandra bland act to limit C arrests. That actually made it to a floor vote but was soundly defeated.

I don’t know if I have ever seen a more divisive issue from something that should not be political. And like you say, it comes from both sides. These are my thoughts… Covid is a serious disease, if nothing else but by its pure contagiousness. People point out has a 99% survival rate. That may be true but is infecting people 20 times more often than the flu. Even the people that survive easily are often laid up for weeks or months including serious effects well after the body has killed a disease. Many State and federal government agencies have exploited the seriousness of this disease for their own political gain. They made political what should not be. Whether a person decides to take the vaccine or not is not political. It’s a personal choice. I know many Republicans who have taken the vaccine and I know Democrats who have not. I have seen many people in forums claim that if you took the vaccine, you’re a sheep. That Hass to be one of the most stupid comments almost always from the ride that I have ever seen.

Like seriously ended C arrests? Such a bill (along with other standards) are proposed every session, usually by the same person(s). I have followed each session for the last 20 years or so and I see the same thing coming up again and again. Usually it is to restrict police authority. Typically these bills are submitted to a committee and never go any farther including not even getting a hearing. I think when some politicians run for office they do so by making statements such as, I will submit a bill that blah blah blah…. and they do. But I have seen bills come up that would prohibit C arrest as long as the person signs the citation. None have seen the light of day.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: If you are a convicted felon, don’t go live showing you with a firearm.

I agree with DOC but PI?

I think you have a winning combination there. Not even close….

It is not even simply the past. They are punishing 16 and 17 year old kids who have nothing to do with a reputation of some people in a town from 50 or more years ago.

That is absolutely true. It’s still a crappy deal because of a presidential mandate that a person probably loses two careers.

Question about vaccines and monoclonal infusions
tvc184 replied to bullets13's topic in Political Forum
I have heard that the federal government has shut down the monoclonal infusion treatment. -
I used to get that while on night patrol back in the mid 80s and the again when I commanded the gang unit in the early 2000s. Double hashbrowns with grilled jalapeños and onions, and covered with country gravy. At our half-price it was about $1.10. I had been on the swat team for about 10 years up until the early 2000s. I was around 180 pounds and would practice by jogging 3 times a week as much as 5 miles a night. After I join the gang unit I gained about 20 pounds in about five months.… literally. 😀

According to the article, they were arrested later for public intoxication after they were identified. Just pondering the law… how do you justify arresting someone for public intoxication later when you cannot prove how intoxicated they (if at all) were during the fight? They might just plead guilty but I would take the case to court and say prove I was publicly intoxicated. I can almost guarantee it even if convicted and City Court, the county DA will drop the case as not winnable. Why not just arrest them for fighting?

I wish the NovaVAX vaccine would come out sooner and see how that works out. I believe it is a non-mRNA vaccine made more in the traditional way.

We were discussing this when mandate came out several weeks ago for the military. There was a big debate that it was not an approved vaccine yet, they can’t force you to take it and so on. I and other people in the forum brought up the fact that it was soon to be approved, then what. The reason that was brought up because people said they can’t force me to take an unapproved vaccine, I will resist, etc. Yeah but what if…… One person in the forum had a son in the military who was in the military police. His career goal was to go into the military until he was of age to become a civilian police officer. He has now rejected the vaccine and will be given a less than honorable discharge. That ends any chance of him ever being a police officer because anything less than an honorable discharge disqualifies a person.

OK. I was thinking that Nederland at 3-4 wasn’t exactly “owned”.

Did you overlook the Nederland district championship at Crosby in 2020 in the last game in district?

Sabine Pass has canceled their 2021 season

Actually many SP students are from PAISD and maybe others. SP sends school buses to the intracoastal canal bridge between PA and SP (which is all actually PA) in the mornings and afternoons. Parents who want their children to go to school in SP (and don’t feel like driving the extra couple of miles) drop their kids off at the buses under the bridge in the mornings and pick them up at the same place in the evening after school. -
Question about vaccines and monoclonal infusions

I appreciate it. I am ever so slowly improving but I seem to be improving daily. if I understand correctly, if you have a fairly bad case, it simply takes a long time to recover. The disease might be beaten but the rehab time might be extended. -
That is pretty much what I think. It was more likely murder but I doubt you would ever get an indictment. Texas law errs on the side of the defender and a reasonable belief. Under our law you do not have to prove self-defense. If the woman truly shot because she saw a peeping Tom only, that is murder. If the guy was breaking in or she had a reasonable belief that he was breaking in (what is reasonable is determined by a grand jury and if indicted, later by a judge or jury) it is lawful self-defense. I think it takes more than being in a yard or looking through a window to justify oppression is breaking in. But again, the burden is on the state to prove otherwise. And let’s face it, at the end a peeping Tom and possibly a sexual pervert is no longer with us. Other than his family there are probably not going to be a lot of tears shed. Had the circumstance been different and it was not a person peeping, the sentiment would probably be in the opposite direction and she would almost surely be indicted, in my opinion.

Question about vaccines and monoclonal infusions
tvc184 replied to bullets13's topic in Political Forum
That was one of the first news report I came up on. Obviously unvaccinated have a greater chance of being more sick but in this one single news report from one limited area (and I have seen some that are a lot worse but this was the very first story in google) it shows what other reports have said, there is an increase in vaccinated people now showing up and with each variant it becomes greater. That at least somewhat matches the information from a year ago that as we progress, the mRNA might more likely do harm than benefit. And again, it may be true and it may not be true but I have read many different forums and the information is definitely out there and is definitely looked at by many people as the reason that they will never get the mRNA vaccine. When you ask for a rationale why people might get one and not the other, that is a big part of it. Is it valid? I don’t think we know yet but many people simply don’t want to take the chance. -
Question about vaccines and monoclonal infusions
tvc184 replied to bullets13's topic in Political Forum
I have read quite a bit on the second part and watch plenty of videos from people claiming to be immunologist. I was seeing almost a year ago where it said (reportedly from medical professionals) that people who got the vaccine would have a spike in the percentages of people going to the hospital who had been vaccinated. I googled this and this is the very first report I came upon. It was from a new station in Maryland it says exactly that. There is now an uptick in the percentage of vaccinated people going to the hospital. Sure the unvaccinated are still becoming sick but now they’re vaccinated starting to pile in with the rest of them. This is not new information but like almost everything with this disease, it is an all or nothing one way or the other. Many people have drawn a line in the sand and will not back off of either position. [Hidden Content]# -
Question about vaccines and monoclonal infusions
tvc184 replied to bullets13's topic in Political Forum
For one and probably foremost is, I am sick right now, I might end up in the hospital or dead and this treatment can turn me around very quickly. No matter the long term effects, without it you won’t have to worry, you might not be here. Secondly, right or wrong, you can find a lot of information from medical professionals that say the mRNA vaccine works but it makes your body more susceptible to a more serious version of the disease later. Basically it will save your life this go round but it might kill you later. I don’t know the answer to either but I think that is behind the rationale of the thought process. -
It is crazy some of the stuff I was reading. And it was put out as “fact”!! Stuff like, I have a friend who has a buddy who’s a cop and he says you can shoot anybody in your yard after dark and blah blah blah…. Uhhhhhh, no.
-
I was reading this story on Facebook a little while ago on the KFDM Facebook website. I hope no one gets their legal advice from Facebook. It is unbelievable the amount of people that are putting out complete nonsense as “the law” says….. Not only is most of it completely wrong, some of it combined like three different laws or circumstances. Like, you can shoot someone if they’re trespassing, if it’s after midnight, and you’re in fear of your life and… Where do they get this stuff?
