  1. Notwithstanding this not being TX, if it was then you are wrong. The legislative process has already happened. State law gives the governor the authority to declare an emergency on his own including fines and jail up to 6 months. It is in the Texas Government Code Chapter 418 on Emergency Management. The governor. county judge or mayor have Emergency powers to issue orders with the full effect of law. [Hidden Content]
  2. Assuming this was TX (and it isn’t), it doesn’t matter what the municipality has enacted, a property owner can set rules or ask you to leave.
  3. Thoughts are, this was in Ohio so TX laws do not apply. Anyone know OH Law?
  4. I got a pop-up that said I had a new notification but no way to check the notification yesterday. Today it appears as though that function has been restored.
  5. Besides some color change, I lost the button also. After I got reading what I wanted. I used to mark the entire site as read so I could see which forums have new posts. That is gone or moved.
  6. I watched the video where he was getting off the jet and was waving to an empty field. Of course lots of comments about no one there, how funny, etc. I thought he was waving at hundreds of his loyal voters..... in the nearly cemetery.
  7. If they are doing their part, how did that many players catch it?
  8. Since 10am Saturday.
  9. I was at HEB on F M 365 in Port Arthur (often called Nederland WM) this afternoon and they had several bags anasazi beans. Now they have 5 less...... They were $2.78 a pound. Not sure about other HEBs.
  10. Yep, out of requirement.
  11. Well boys and girls... whatever is going to happen will start. Hurricane Hunter aircraft just measured 146 mile an hour sustained winds.
  12. A lot of weather gurus use UKMET and/or EURO models. Latest EURO shows landfall near PA as a major storm. for what that’s worth…
  13. Yep, mandatory evacuation in the morning. I am guessing that Bridge city and most of orange county will soon follow. Everybody does not have this opportunity but if you have a place to go and can get out, try to beat the rush. Then let’s hope this thing turns and people can complain how about evacuating for no reason.
  14. I think that Port Arthur just issued a mandatory evacuation beginning at 6 AM in the morning.
  15. I just got out of a meeting with area emergency management and the National Weather Service. Until it clears the islands good, it is still up in the air what its track will be. It “could” hit Port Arthur as a Cat 3 and push a huge storm surge. But.... it may not and not just because they change but this one is giving different signals (my words, not NWS). Another conference tonight and one tomorrow morning. The one in the morning is probably really going to tell the tale. The problem always is the amount of time it takes to evacuate.
  16. And the instant Kraft MaC......
  17. I have come to the conclusion that I wish I was young and single.....
  18. And I am reluctant to recommend much because people’s tastes vary greatly. I am fairly certain you would love these if you like to eats beans. I will say that they are just beans just like Navy, Pinto, Kidney, etc. But they are very good if you love beans. I have yet to have anyone try them that didn’t love them. I have had a comment or two like, they are very good but they taste like beans. Well, yeah... they don’t taste like fresh Gulf shrimp or filet mignon. They are beans.
  19. Cook them any way you eat beans or use then in any recipe. Substitute for red, pinto, etc I cooked them very basic the first time so as to get a better taste rather than covering them up with 3 meats and 10 spices. I did like a medium onion, a little bacon for the fat and salt/pepper. They were great. When I cook red or anasazi beans, I usually smash a lot of them to make it a lot thicker, almost like Popeye’s RBR.
  20. I just looked at Amazon. Those things have doubled in price. I wonder if Covid related...... It looks like the only semi- cheaper way to buy them is direct from the company but in bulk. 20 pounds delivered in a burlap bag is $50 or $2.50 a pound delivered. That is about what it is a pound at HEB if they still have them. I use that many so I don’t mind. My friend buys them in 40 pound burlap but cooks 2-3 pounds at a time. I need to run to HEB and see v if they are still there.
  21. Amazon or they had them at HEB on 365 in PA. I don’t know since the Covid food rush. They are about twice as expensive as regular beans or maybe a little more. The look like a cross between a black eye pea, navy bean and red bean. When they cook the mostly turn red so people think they are red/kidney beans. They are milder than red or pinto beans, usually cook in about 90 minutes without soaking and...... they don’t give you gas. They are named after the Anasazi Indians who cultivated them. Supposedly extinct 500 years ago, they were claimed to be discovered in caves in the dessert Southwest. I have read that some scientists dispute that saying that beans cannot germinate after about 50 years. They believe that some of the Indian tribes were still growing them around the early 1900s and their extinction was simply incorrect.
  22. No order.. Gumbo Tikka Masala Budae Jjigae (Korean Army Stew) Zuppa Toscana Chili sous vide steaks red beans and rice or ... anasazi beans (probably best beans on the planet) Pozole Apple Dumplings Breakfast casserole Chicken and Dumplings
  23. Texas law (with each state being different) says that if there is a riot and you remain there, you are guilty of Riot and can be charged with a B misdemeanor (up to 180 days in jail). Then it goes on to say that you can additionally be charged with the most serious crime that was committed by anyone in the riot. So if someone sets fire to a car and you are there as part of the riot, they can charge you with felony arson without having to prove that you said the fire. You fail to disperse from the scene of a riot.
  24. Yes, go $1 but people would raise heck. They want the government to deliver mail for almost nothing but then complain when the post office loses money. I had an idea a few years ago and still think it might work. First class mail is now delivered six days a week. I say deliver mail to half of the addresses on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the other half on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. You could get rid of half the delivery people. We would have to wait one extra day for our meal. Big deal. If it is really important you can send it for $15 by express or fax it or send it in an email. But, this is not a thread about the post office. I think it is a lousy example of government inefficiency because they are forced to compete against private industry and could only charge 5% for the same delivery. I don’t think that UPS can deliver letters to Guam for a little over $1.
