Kerry defends US role in UN's Israel censure amid backlash
tvc184 replied to LumRaiderFan's topic in Political Forum
It is kind of like a lawyer / client relationship where the lawyer has to defend the indefensible but the lawyer has years of schooling to try and do it anyway. -
Trump has decried sending jobs overseas and to stop illegal entry. None of that is covered by a work Visa to lawfully enter the country. I realize that is a tough concept..............

It will not keep him relevant. It will be historical. Just like JFK was the first (and only) president that was Catholic. We will eventually have a first woman (probably a Republican), the first Hispanic (also likely a Republican), maybe even the first Jew and so on. Historical? Absolutely. Relevant? Only to less than half the country and will cling to it like some saving grace.

Drain the swamp is a reference to getting rid of corrupt positions by administration insiders. It has nothing to do with Congress but rather presidential appointees. Good try though. Maybe someone else who also has no clue will go along with you thinking your statement is profound.

The cork gets pulled on January 20, 2017. You can wait three more weeks for the whirlpool to start.....

The Republicans did not campaign in California. They were not going to spend millions and millions of dollars in the state they knew they could not win. Could they have swung some votes the other way? Sure they could. It is called smart politics. Our elections were set up by the Constitution intentionally to make each state count individually. Trump knew that and Clinton knew that. Trump had a smarter team. Hillary was the worst candidate. Why does that matter? If you take California out of the mix, Trump won by almost one and a half million votes. That's right. In 49 states total Trump was the winner. Even with New York being heavily Democratic, when you mix that in with 48 other states Trump still comes out more than 1 million votes ahead. That he is not to minimize California but why are they more important than anyone else? The Republicans wisely did not spend money swinging some votes over in California as they did in Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan. What it had changed some votes? Almost without a doubt that is true. The question is why would it be needed when the Republicans simply allowed California to go democratic and did not waste the money. Trump pushed hard in state they said he could not win. He proved what heavy campaigning, huge crowds and money would mean when he took states that Obama had previously taken. To let's refresh our knowledge. In 49 states including New York Donald Trump won by over 1 million popular votes. In one state where an overwhelming majority that went against the national vote. Smart campaigning by the Republicans knew that and won the election within the rules and for the very reason the Constitution was laid out like it was. Big girl and others of her ilk 30 years from now will be crying about the equivalent of losing the Super Bowl but claiming your team should have won because they had the most first downs.

Let me get this straight, a Trump owned company wants to lawfully bring people in to work? Absolutely horrible. His companies should try to hire illegal aliens and pay them under the table in order to pay less than minimum wages for jobs "Americans don't want" and to save on taxes. I can see where the Dems would be upset.

Porfiling is the best lawful means to assist law enforcement.

In reality all that Obama did was be the president when the stock market returned to what it was before the Democrat caused crash. In fact the Dow Jones was at almost 16,000 under Bill Clinton (and a Republican Congress) and it rose to 19,000 in 17 years. The crash caused by the Democrat back subprime loans dropped the market and it took Obama 8 years to simply get back to where it was to begin with. In fact from June 1999 to June 2016 the DJ rose on an average about 0.75% per year. Inflation in that time frame rose 45% or about 3% per year.

The epitome of idolatry. The godlike worship of a failed president. Michelle Obama was never proud of America until her husband was nominated and there in no hope without him. Even for a spouse she is unbelievable. In 240 years of history, this country has had 232 of nothing to be proud of and I guess nothing else possible into the future. There was a little 8 years segment however as a shining example of American excellence....... HAHAHAHA!!!

For most of his presidency, Obama and his minions have continued with the blame Bush theatrics. Trump hasn't taken office and Obama and his mindless drones (speaking of drones) have already started with the "don't blame us".... and they are still in power.
-
That's okay. We've had a president that for 8 years hasn't had a clue.

Again the Dems don't get it. The great elector protest worked, Hillary lost ground. We didn't get our message out, we didn't campaign hard enough, we won the popular vote in the big cities that depend on welfare, we didn't take Trump serious enough, we didn't get out the vote....... Anything but, our message was the same old thing with old people running the show. Trump might be a goof but he is exciting. Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Joe Biden and others of that ilk are old news. Heck, there is still a large wing of the Dems that still will be pushing hard for Elizabeth Pocahontas Warren who will be in her 70's by the end of Trump's first term.

Federal and state law prohibit it (but not in all circumstances) for something done as a child. When a child/juvenile is "certified" to stand trial as an adult, he/she no longer has that protection. In TX law only as an example, when a child is charged in a crime it is not a .... crime. It is called a civil violation. In Texas there are only two crimes/charges for juveniles. It is Delinquent Conduct and Conduct Indicating a Need for Supervision. DC is any crime that an adult can get jail time for and CINS is anything such as a traffic citation, runaway, minor in possession of alcohol, etc. A juvenile is charges like Delinquent Conduct/Assault. It shows delinquency based on actions of assault whereas an adult is simply charged with the crime of assault. It is like if you were caught stealing a candy bar at 12 years old and it go as a crime of theft for the rest of your life. Many jobs will not hire a person with a theft charge and what you did as a stupid young kid should not haunt you at 30 years old. In TX a juvenile can be charged as an adult down to 14 years old. It is not unheard of at all for 15 and 16 year old kids charged as adults for serious crimes. I have seen juveniles be sentenced to 30 or more years and in those cases their names are released.

They cannot seek the death penalty no matter what kind of case is filed. The USSC has ruled that no one that was under 18 when a crime was committed can face death. In TX for example, you are criminally an adult at 17. Even those you can get life without parole at 17, you cannot face death no matter how heinous the crime.

No. In his first reelection, FDR won all but two states.

Isn't that between a person and God and not for you to dictate who gets punished? While killing an unborn child very likely is a sin in the eyes of God, are you not a sinner or are you the one person that reaches the Perfection of Christ? I suppose you are the one spoken of in Martthew 7 where Christ says that you notice the speck of sawdust in your neighbor's eye yet ignore the plank in yours. I won't disagree that abortion is a sin however that is not for you to worry about. This thread is about when an abortion is legal by the laws of the land.

The market is driven by optimism whether on the upswing or downswing. Obviously people that invest heavily in the future of companies believes that Trump is way more likely to be business friendly than Obama. I think Obama has stifled the market but in the long run, you can never hold the American economy from advancing. It will eventually recover even with a bad administration in power. The problem with this big upswing in the market is that it is emotional just as if it was falling at a fast rate. It cannot keep going higher without falling. It might be fast or it might be gradual but relying too much on optimism and not output will leave some people holding the bag. That optimism will likely soon run out and it will be on Congress to actually pass some actions such as new rules or repealing old ones but in favor of business.

What about the physical life of the mother? If you have to use deadly force to protect your family at 3AM when an intruder is breaking into your home, is it murder? I understand and agree that you can have your own opinion but murder is a legal term and it is what the government sets. Kind of interesting or strange in TX, a mother can kill her own child without any justification but at the moment of conception, the child is otherwise under law seen as a person and anyone else that causes the death of a fetus is can be charged with Capital Murder.

Okay, Nixon's Silent Majority..... And yes, those were huge popular vote and electoral landslides. Nixon won by 16 million popular votes and Reagan won by 17 million.
-
Out of curiosity and not willing to research, was the other time Reagan's reelection? The reason I thought that might be true was that he won by such a huge margin over the entire nation that maybe the then heavy union vote crossed over. As they named them back then, Reagan Democrats. This time was clear just as for the rest of the nation, the Dems had such a lousy candidate. No matter if she won the popular vote by a slight margin, it should not have been close. The GOP nominates a reality star kind of clown, who is a billionaire and should be the hated enemy of the working class. He ran against a former first lady, senator, secretary of state and wife of a popular Democrat president. You would think it had been a 65%-35% win but even the buffoonery of Trump was destined to win over such a horrible candidate. Had the Dems not been afraid to run someone against the "machine", this would not have been close, going the other way and Trump would have been sent back to his tower.

Former astronaut and US Senator John Glenn dies at 95
tvc184 replied to LumRaiderFan's topic in The Locker Room
I admire him as a war hero and sitting on top of a roman candle to orbit the earth in a rocket that I believe exploded a few times in tests. He served his country with nerves of steel. I don't agree with his abortion stance if that is what it was but one has nothing to do with the other. Heck, he was a Democrat and therefore likely liberal through and through. There are plenty of issues that I likely disagree with his stance. So what? I often see people say God Bless our troops or they respect them for serving. I guess that does not apply to ones that vote Democrat, support liberal politics, run for Democratic office.............. Maybe when I lower my flag on Memorial Day to half staff, I should put a cardboard D on the ground under the flag so that it shows I don't respect that men and women that died in service for our country because we differ politically. -

Yep, saw his flight live and in black and white. He flew almost 200 combat missions in two wars and shot down enemy aircraft in both. Another heroic member of the greatest generation. -
I met with a friend/partner right after he shot and killed a person on duty. Like this officer, it was his second. He ran it down to me blow by blow. It was not even debatable on being a lawful use of deadly force. But..... there was very clear video from two police cars. This is one case of it being very clear what happened and the deceased caused his own death. He lunged at an officer and grabbed a handgun that was in another officer's hands. The suspect had just pulled an aggravated robbery/car jacking and cut a victim. After he grabbed the officer's gun he began fighting over it and you can clearly see that he was about to get control (not that it matters in my opinion). My partner used a Taser on the guy and it did not work. The suspect got control over the officer's handgun and got off a single shot at my partner before he was then shot several times. None of it is open to debate. I could tell you no details and you could just watch the video and render a verdict in about 5 seconds. However.... the facebook comments were all over the place. He shot him because he was Hispanic, the officer shot him in the back seat of his patrol unit because he was being rude, the officer grabbed a gun instead of a Taser and accidentally shot the guy, etc. All of it is nonsense. It is very unfortunate for the family but they were shown the video by the DA. I am sure there is still plenty of friends and family that thinks it was wrong and was a cover up. People let emotions and friendships or family ties get in the way of facts. I wish they would show the video on the news or put it out on the internet even two years later.
