It is probably not nearly as bad as portrayed however even if that is true, it won't get much traction for some people. And before the inevitable claim that it will be the same from the other side with police defenders not looking at both sides, I have gotten a white officer fired immediately (like almost on the spot) for hitting a black prisoner without justified cause and filed criminal charges with the DA. I have no problem calling a bad officer or even a good officer making a mistake when I see and have acted on that personally. I like to see both sides of the story however before I make the conclusion and once the facts are in, it is what it is. In many cases that make national or area news, some people will "CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!". (thank you Jack Nicholson) According to the news report listed (which can be completely wrong from either standpoint), he was misidentified by a witness. That means that someone likely pointed to him and said, "That's the guy!!". IF that is true, that already tends to show where the police were coming from in their use of force, even if it turns out to be justified. So.... let's wait and see what happened.

"Only" 59 but never heard of it.

A lot of people want welfare to be cut until it is their welfare being cut.

Straight ticket is stupid however as long as they list the party affiliation next to the name on the ballot, a person can still simple go through and click the party of choice. If we run four different people in the general election, we will throw the president choice to the House of Representatives. In this case, the Republicans in the House would choose the next president.

I hate to break this to you but there is no way in our current political system that a third party candidate can do anything except help guarantee one of the first two parties a victory. To make it shorter, a Democrat or Republican will be the next president and no third party candidate will change that. You can write Mickey Mouse in and stomp your feet in protest to show your feelings but it will not change any of the above. If you believe that Romney would have been the same as Obama then I have serious doubts of your reasoning ability. It didn't matter if you voted in TX because Romney beat Obama by 16% but in general, the Democrats still appreciate your support of their candidate by voting for a meaningless third party or simply skipping the polls altogether.

The whole lives matter stuff is just crap. Black, white, blue, all, etc. is stupidity. Who is claiming that some lives don't matter? It is a movement based on......... absolutely nothing.

If saying stupid things is a disqualifyer, the Dems better hope that Hillary drops out and that Biden doesn't take her place.

Every few years I notice a case like this. Usually it involves an officer that wrecks a car and makes up some kind of wild story to cover up the incident. In many cases it would likely result in a bad letter in the file or a day or two without pay. A lie will sink an officer's career faster than anything. This one might result in a prison sentence.
-
And the Democrats appreciate the support.

Not hardly or at least not what I call conservative issues.

The police union is being kind of a crybaby and silly about it. They don't want all officers judged by the very few bad apples yet they want Arby's nationwide to suffer a boycott because of the actions of a 19 year old. Arby's looks like they immediately addressed the issue. Why go any further? People in glass houses should not throw stones and the police are most definitely in a glass house.

I would vote for the best of the last two candidates that were left unless you are talking the primaries.

Is that a department policy or the judge's arbitrary rule?

Cops hunt 3 suspects in shooting of Illinois police officer
tvc184 replied to LumRaiderFan's topic in Political Forum
It is too cost prohibitive. In Port Arthur a two man mandatory patrol unit would cut the current staffing down to 4 patrol cars between Sabine Pass (part of PA), Bridge City, Port Acres, the north end/mall area, the central part of the city and downtown/west side. It is hard to cover almost 100 square miles with 4 cars. It would take approximately $5 million to hire enough officers for the same patrol coverage by adding two man units. It will not happen. -
Lucky for the driver that he wasn't shot after he reached.

And exactly what windfalls would that be? -
No.

I am thinking that the suspect needs one more round of drugs to cure his issues...... permanently.

That is one of the most insightful things that I have seen you post. Yes sometimes the cops are cranky. That doesn't make them evil, criminal or abusive. They deal with crap all day, hear every lie imaginable and that is likely just in the last two days. That same sometimes (not always) cranky cop is the same one that will drag a drunk driver out of a burning car to save his life at the risk of the officer's life when the criminal (DWI) almost caused his own death. I agree with all of your post but wanted to highlight that many people mistake being in a less than stellar mood as being criminal or prejudicial.

Where is the logic? I guess you missed it. Travis committed valiant acts to save Texas. For that he gave his life to defend the ideals of freedom from an oppressor. How many people have earned the Medal of Honor in US military history that may have disobeyed orders? A squad is told to stay put and wait for help but one guy charges forward at the extreme risk of his own life and saves fellow comrades. We have award medals of valor for such acts, not court martial the person. Again, we all have committed sins or other misdeeds. There is no hero around that has not done something in the past that was questionable. Martin Luther King Jr is reported by a close advisor to have had sexual affairs. Does that diminish his accomplishments? He is celebrated for what he did that was heroic, not for being a saint. All of the people mentioned have committed acts of bravery or other selfless acts that are admired without making personal shortcomings an issue. Sandra Bland did what, was lawfully arrested for a felony and killed herself? And if you can find where I ever called her a bad person, please point it out. I have made no judgments of her whatsoever other than she was lawfully arrested.

16 yr old Burgalry suspect killed in Hamshire

You betcha. -
I have been saying that about Democrats in presidential elections forever. For example..... "I will close Gitmo immediately". "I will never raise taxes a single cent and it won't be by calling it a fee or anything else". ........ and so on. I know this may come as a shock that politicians say things they believe their base wants to hear.

The only problem with that accusation is that officers defend officers that they know are correct by law or that there is no factual basis at the time for the claims or charges. The officers making those claims are very seldom wrong. -

The people in Ferguson, MO were and in many cases still are facing a huge case of denial. They simply will not accept physical facts from the crime scene and testimony from witnesses that any reasonable person could see. That case almost pails in comparison to this kid's grandparents. While I might be more understanding of the denial and wishful thinking that a loved grandchild could not be a criminal or certainly not one that can justify the use of deadly force, even for them they have to have their heads in the sand. Like Ferguson, it is a government cover up and the shooter, his wife, his kids, the responding patrol officers, their supervisors, the crime scene technicians, the DA and the entire grand jury are all in on it. Upwards of 40 people have all come together to deny this child his rights and no one has come forward to expose the conspiracy. I say show them the video up until the point of the shots being fired and even that if they wish. I guess they will say the video was staged. They say that he was not illegally entering a home and was never inside of the home. How do they know that? Let's go way way way out on a limb and say that the kid never really "entered". What was he doing outside of the man's home at 2:00AM? He wasn't up to no good, he was merely outside of a school board member's home in the early morning hours looking to sell girl scout cookies. Again, they need to show them the video. Then have the KBMT hatchet job team show back up at the house and again interview the family and see if they retract their statements. I really feel for the family as they lost a loved one that they cannot convince themselves could ever do anything wrong. In this case the denial seems to be (in today's idiom) "over the top". I can understand a case of wanting to believe that an officer lied or his partner covered him up. In this case the responding patrol officers and their supervisors had to fake the crime scene on the fly, the crime scene techs had to fake photographs of blood including likely trails from inside the home to the body, someone had to plant evidence of duct tape and a cue stick, fake a video or simply say that one existed when it did not and then convince the DA and a group of grand jurors picked from the general public that did not know each other, to all come together for this cover up for a guy they likely had never heard of and all of it (except the grand jury) had to be done before all the neighbors came out and saw the scene. Quite a feat I'd say or the other option, ultimate denial.
