Something like you are doing now? Nope. I never called him a racist and I didn't bring up the topic or the states. I simply responded to a post that was already tossed out there.
-
Racist because Obama doesn't know how many states we have? Then he coincidently gives the number of Islamic states in the OIC...... Probably just a gaffe. Who knows where the number 57 came from.. that just happened to match the number of the OIC. But racist? If Bush or Palin would have said that there were 57 states, the left/liberal/Democrats would still be talking about it.

ITT doesn't give MBA's. The University of Houston does.

Maybe he is or maybe he isn't. He is almost certainly more educated if that matters. Here are some questions. Does intelligence make a person right in political decisions? If a test is given and it is discovered that I have a higher IQ than others on this board, does that invalidate their political arguments? Should the presidency be determined by IQ if it really matters? If so, let's just give a test and pick the smartest man/woman. Does education really matter? My brother has 4 college degrees, 2 bachelors and 2 masters. He is working on his 3rd masters. I would venture to guess that he is way more educated and probably has a lot higher IQ than Palin, Obama, McCain or Biden. I wonder if my brother should be the next President of the United States.

From a politician, yes that is what you do. It is the smart strategy. If I was running for office, I wouldn't give my opponent any ammunition to use against me and would highlight my strong points while attacking his weak ones. I don't think anyone in this forum is running for office though.
-
Good, a point of agreement. I just think it is bad in political arguments to make statements about the other party's candidate that very well might apply to your own. You may not have done so but others certainly have. It is like my old argument about war records. When Bob Dole ran against Bill Clinton, the Democrats thought that a true war hero meant nothing. Fast forward a few years and when it is John Kerry against George Bush, all of a sudden the war record is of utmost importance. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Glad to see you believe that debating skills have nothing to do with intelligence. The thought of the premise is absurd. Some of the most intelligent people in history may have been lousy debaters. Some of the best debaters have probably been of fairly low intelligence. One is a skill, one is knowledge. As far as the speaking skills, as you said, it does not equate to intelligence or the lack thereof. The point is, many (if not most) Democrats love to point at the debating skills of Palin. If you have ever heard Obama speak off the cuff, he sounds like a buffoon. The guy sometimes makes Bush look like a great orator. That doesn't make Obama wrong but by the same token, it doesn't make Palin wrong either. Obama and Palin are very similar in that both can give a great speech when it is written in front of them (by someone else) and stumble when it is unprepared. As far as Palin being the Veep, look at Biden's speaking skills. The guy is almost a laugh a minute when he utters something. Apparently speaking skills and intelligent though aren't requisites from the Democratic Veep.
-
Do you honestly think that the ability to debate makes a person intelligent? Do you honestly think that not having good debating skills means that someone is lacking in intelligence? I would like to see how well some of the Democrats in this forum do in a debate. Apparently that is the only sign of intelligence that matters. From reading many of these posts, I think that it would be a tough sell.

Sarah Palin was a bit out of her league in the campaign. She did not have nearly enough national experience. That doesn't make her wrong, it simply makes her unpolished. In truth, she can give a canned speech with the best of them. Anyone that doesn't think that she can read a speech and give it very effectively either has not seen her do so or is blinded by politics. What Sarah Palin lacks is the skill of impromptu speaking when she has no clue what she is talking about. A good politician has never let a lack of a truthful answer stop anything. They simply talk around the question. Palin does not have that ability. Ask her about hunting or fishing and she could probably hold her own unprepared. Unfortunately for her, she was running for the Vice President of the USA and not a new sports show on ESPN2. That is not her fault however. She is what she is. I don't think that any of her critics in this forum or most people in the country could do any better. The fault lies with the guy that picked her. McCain was far enough behind that he knew he needed something huge to make a comeback. He rolled the dice with Palin and he lost. She did not lose the election for him. Some people act as if he was leading in the polls and she destroyed it for him. Not hardly. What I find interesting is that Palin can obviously give a prepared speech with the best in the business. She has great timing, voice inflection and expressions. When asked to speak about something off the cuff that she isn't prepared for, she stumbles and looks ill prepared for the job. Sound like anyone else that we know? Maybe some community organizer without his teleprompter?

Many years ago when I actually bass fished, I would do the early morning (like just as the sun is peaking over the horizon) and had good success on topwaters. Many times just tossing out the lure and letting it sit there for a minute or so before twitching it. By about 9:00AM, it was time to move off of the water and wait for the evening fishing.

I don't see the big deal in it really. If it was a stupid move on her part, she will get no support and will be a non issue in the 2012 election. All the speculation in the world today (which is what forums are about, so no problem) won't matter when people start going to the polls during the primaries almost three years from now. If it was that bad of a move, she won't even come close to the Republican nomination ..... assuming she even decides to run. Some Democrats seem to believe (or hope) that the future election for the Republicans will ride on Palin, so they can already claim victory.

I would love a big amberjack for tablefare.... or a ling... or some durado/dolphin/mahi mahi........

I think that I would have had to laugh at that moment. That's pretty funny.

I think the misunderstanding is that most fishermen know that we have common boundary waters with Louisiana but not the fine print. That is the print that says the common waters of lakes and rivers. It is like we were 90% right but that 10% (offshore) is the part that has been getting people in trouble.
-
I think this is the answer about the fishing offshore question. This is the current Texas Parks and Wildlife Code which is the legal authority for game laws. The law says that Texas and bordering states will enter into agreements on which bordering LAKES and RIVERS can be fished or hunted with either license. Once you go past the final point of land, you are no longer in a lake or river. Hence, the reciprocal agreement is no longer in effect. You have to have a Louisiana or Texas license depending on which side of the ship channel (state line) that you are on. TITLE 5. WILDLIFE AND PLANT CONSERVATION SUBTITLE A. HUNTING AND FISHING LICENSES CHAPTER 41. RECIPROCAL HUNTING AND FISHING PRIVILEGES Sec. 41.003. RECIPROCAL LICENSE AGREEMENTS: BORDER STATES. (a) The director shall negotiate for the commission with the proper representatives of each state having a common border with Texas to allow reciprocal fishing and migratory waterfowl hunting on rivers and lakes on the common boundary between Texas and the border state. ( An agreement must provide that a resident of the border state who has a sport fishing license or a hunting license issued by the border state may fish or hunt migratory waterfowl on rivers and lakes of the common border, and a Texas resident holding a Texas license is extended equal privileges. A person who holds a nonresident sport fishing license or a nonresident hunting license issued by this state or a border state may be extended the same privileges as those extended a resident license holder under this subsection. Acts 1975, 64th Leg., p. 1405, ch. 545, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1975. Amended by Acts 1997, 75th Leg., ch. 1256, Sec. 25, eff. Sept. 1, 1997.

Whose "house" do you hate to go into?

No kidding. For about the last three years, Nederland as been the only team in the area that can score 35+ points a game and lose. -
No, it is not the same. Texas game wardens have no authority in Louisiana. The Louisiana game wardens have no authority in Texas but when they are issuing citations at the jetties, they are in Louisiana waters. The Texas game wardens at the Lousiana ramp would not be in Texas waters. Second, there would be no proof that the Louisiana fishermen would have ever been in Texas waters. When the Louisiana game wardens issue the citations on the Louisiana side, they have the proof that the person is in their waters since that is where the citation is issued. If the Louisiana game wardens are violating some rule, then why not deal with the rule? Why have Texas game wardens return the favor by giving citations to otherwise legal Louisiana residents in retaliation? The citizens didn't give the citations. I have asked about this situation and have been told (not knowing if this is true) that the reciprocal agreement between Louisiana and Texas for boundary waters ends at the points of land. Out in the Gulf, it no longer applies.
-
Are you gonna throw me in? Nope. He is hoping that you will keep some of those undersized reds or specks and he will have the game warden standing by.

I have more if someone else needs one to fish with. We need to get together with Bullets in a couple weeks and go to sabine lake. I might take you up on the flyrod offer....I dont remember what kind of shape mine is in. Would be fun catching reds or specs on a flyrod. I fished off of the docks in the ship channel two nights ago. I landed five keepers at least 18" each. I lost a big 'un on a RatLTrap. He might have gone 24". He would have been the biggest that I have caught in about four years. I should have had a few more in the box but I had to lift them about 10 feet from the water and over the rail of the docks. Good night though.

I would not be an established guide on the Keys since I have no experience there but for a reduced fee, I would be willing to learn on the job.

They certainly add to the excitement of the game. I can imagine that even an NFL game would be boring on tv it is was played in an entirely empty stadium. It would seem more like watching a scrimmage. I only disagree with the statement that the fans are part of the team and somehow deserve credit for the win. If so, do the fans deserve credit for the loss?

13 Year Old Accepts Football Scholarship
tvc184 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Yeah but I think it is a gimmick really. I guess you can verbally commit at 5 years old if you want to but by NCAA rules, it is obviously not allowed. This is nothing more than a father making an over the top pitch for his son and his alma mater. He might have "committed" to Tennessee but I'll bet Tennessee hasn't accepted. I think that the kid's father is trying to vicariously live his youth again through his son, possibly at the son's expense... which I guess is why you think that it is not right.... and I agree. I just don't think it is much more than a publicity stunt. -
