  1. Not a chance. I want to be able to keep hunting and with my guns if I wish. ;D
  2. I sure wish that I could swing it. I have been hunting with my bow a bit more in the last few years. I only got one javelina with it last year.
  3. .... also, are you on the Texas Bowhunters website?
  4. Wish I had the time to travel that far. I usually make a trip to a day lease or guided ranch just about as far but I can't find the time to justify the money for a regular lease that far away. How much if I can find someone and how many hunters, family included, etc.?
  5. I don't know Bronc, I mean each year there is a Super Bowl Champ and at the same time there is still an NFC Champ and an AFC Champ although admittedly they don't shine as much as the Bowl Champ. Also, if you had that one more game, wouldn't it stand to reason that the UIL would make a little more money from the extra game? But the NFC and AFC are in difference conferences. They aren't divided into what is essentially an upper tier and a lower tier. The UIL already has that in effect with regions. If you win the quarterfinals, you are the regional champ. There are four regional champions in each division each year. You don't play outside of your region until you have won that region or in effect, your conference or area. You won't see the New York Giants play in one division and the Dallas Cowboys in another. They can never play each other in the Super Bowl as they are i the same conference or region (UIL equivalent). If it is all about money and an extra game, why not just play the extra game and quit worrying about divisions?
  6. If they are going to play for the final championship, what is the point of two divisions? If you take 64 smaller schools and let then play until they earn a berth in the final and then take 64 larger schools and do the same, what is to say that several of the defeated large schools couldn't have beaten all of the small school teams? Would the final game then be the best two schools or just the best small against the best big, and if so, why? I realize that the best small school might be the best team in the state (and has happened) but what about the others? If someone wants to make the case that the smaller schools are often the better team for that given year, then why break them up into divisions to begin with? Just add one additional week to the playoffs if that is the ultimate result and stop with the division nonsense. Otherwise, leave it like it is.
  7. I did too. He wasn't always the person to outdo you but he always knew someone that had. Sometimes he had to stretch pretty far for the story too. You could say, "I caught a 8.5 pound bass this weekend on Rayburn". His response would be, "That ain't nothing. I have an uncle whose sister-in-law knows a guy that works with a man in Houston and he caught one at 10 pounds the same weekend on a Zebco 33".
  8. Central, not this year. how you figure? Everyone knows that Central won't be in it this year. They are destined to be a lower tier team with hopes for 2010. I don't really believe that and don't make predictions anyway. I just wanted to get Scooter pumped up for a few seconds. ;D Well, you should have seen the flames come out of my eyes when I read the first part! :D 8) See, it worked. I am sure the Central will be do just fine but time will tell.
  9. We have had fatalities from exploding tires (I figure that maybe you have seen that in your former life also). Even when I am airing up tires on my personal vehicle or at work, I put my head above the wheel well and turn away from the tire as best as possible. If nothing else, I try to keep the potential impact away from the head or heart area.
  10. Is Vegas giving odds on this?

  12. A friend at work is a guide on the weekends and has been knocking them dead on Flounder Pounder CT Shad. I think he has been using glow and glow with chartreuse tails.
  13. If that is the dumbest quote that you have ever heard, you are either very young or haven't heard much.
  14. I think that Matthews from Vidor is correct when he said that they should not be drinking the energy drinks. I believe those are a disaster in the making. Since when do 16 and 17 year old kids need energy drinks anyway? Maybe it's just the culture of needing to put something into our bodies for everything. If you want to wake up, take something. If you want to go to sleep, take something. If you are about to play sports, take something.
  15. I've never gotten seasick and have been in some waves or rollers up to 10 feet. I don't think it matter how tough you are and only how your inner ear reacts to the motion. I have heard that it is awful if you ever get it and you wish they would just kick you overboard and get it over with.
  16. You know, he never really made any comments about being picked to win district. I guess they edited out those comments if he made any.
  17. With Vidor having practically their whole team back, many for two years, they had better make a serious run at the title and at the very least make the playoffs. All their eggs are in one basket now.
  18. Maybe Coop can weigh in here. Is the second week of August significantly cooler than the first week of August? Does three or four days make that big of a change in Texas weather? This is nothing but a "foot in the door" kind of suggestion. Once they get their foot in the door by banning two-a-days the first week, how far off are we from banning them the second week and then altogether?
  19. Isn't always? Try rarely. They can hit things like, WO-S will make the playoffs or win district but since they haven't lost a district game since dropping to 3A, it is not a hard call. Their prognostications aren't exactly legendary.
  20. I think that Vidor has made the playoffs three times in 69 years. Maybe it is their time to break out.
  21. In the lake or the channel?
  22. If I remember correctly, they had 22 starters returning in 2005 and were supposed to be in also. It was the year of Rita so the season was cut short but they still didn't live up to expectations with almost the entire team returning. That is not to say that they will not win this year but simply returning starters or lettermen is not always the answer. Coaching and talent has to enter into the equation. How many times have other teams had more returning starters that WO-S?
  23. No way. There are teams that do good at the JV or Freshman level that do not win at varsity level and vice versa. Talent can be seen but not the way a team plays when they reach Friday nights.
