  1. No way, you've got it all wrong. If WO-S goes 15-0 this season and wins state but is outscored in their scrimmage this week, their record will show 15-1. Now that I am finished being sarcastic, I agree with you bh34.
  2. You need to read up about the bond. Very little of the money is going to the stadium. They want to build three new schools and do major upgrades on the others. Thats where all the money is going. No kidding. If the new press box and turf costs $2,000,000, that is 1.5% of the bond money. Assuming that games24x7 is correct and a person has a $1,000 a year increase in taxes, the comes out to $15 a year for the football upgrades or $1.25 per month extra. If you want to break it down further, it is a little over 25¢ per week. If a guy can live in a $200,000 home, I believe that he can afford a quarter a week in extra taxes. The education part of the bond comes out to almost $20 per week. Let's see.... 25¢ for football compared to $20 for education. But let's go way out on a limb and say the turf and press box are $4 million. That brings the extra cost up to $2.50 per month on that big home or an unbelievable 57¢ per week. I think games24x7 is just against the bond and is trying to figure out a way to justify its defeat. Great. Go for it and let democracy rule. Let's just try to stick with some facts along the way and not try to make it look like education is being traded in for the sake of sports. That $1,000 extra per year would "only" be $985 if not for the stadium upgrades. So games24x7, pry open that wallet and spring for the extra $1.25 a month, it won't break your budget. :
  3. A scrimmage is nothing more than a practice to see where you stand. I am sure that coaches try things in scrimmages that would not be tried in the same situation if it was a district game on the line. That is what scrimmages are for which is practice. I would rather my team kick another team all over the field in a scrimmage and look good to show that they are making progress and yet "lose" the scrimmage than to get lucky and "win" by a touchdown because of a fumble but my team got shoved all over the field. In the regular season if my team has negative yards of offense but wins on an interception run back, great. In a scrimmage where you are trying to see what works and what doesn't, that same scenario means we have a lot of work to do with little time left to do it.

  5. I'm with you. Between game cams and every device on the market today with cameras built in, why haven't we seen the pics? They might very well be out there..... but they seem to be as elusive as Big Foot.
  6. Wally World have a few pallets of 40 pound bags for $6.67 this week.
  7. Yep. Out of all the saltwater fish that I have caught over the years, my mother wants to keep the croaker. If you can get into some of decent size, it is even better. They are the one inshore fish that are tasty enough to keep up with freshwater fish in my opinion.
  8. Imitation is the best form of flattery.
  9. That's pretty much it. Sometimes I can't believe the amount of interest in scores. WHO WON, WHO WON? The answer is easy. Nobody won. It is a practice but against another team.
  10. They'll take a scrimmage huh?
  11. IF the article is correct, it stated about Nederland's defense: "Nederland did not allow a score and only allowed three first downs, including one to Kelly and two to Silsbee."
  12. I think that may be true.
  13. I think I'll go with the sushi or sashimi if they have it. No need to waste perfectly good raw fish by wrapping rice around it.
  14. LC-M sure doesn't get a lot of love from them. Rated 180 with a -5 power rating.
  15. I think that it way too early for me to even think about this game or what I should think about it when the time comes.
  16. IF that is true, it is a bad sign for LC-M if the kids aren't coming out to play.
  17. If the water is in fairly good shape, some top waters can really be fun around there. I even use some really big top water plugs. That is especially true on the beach side if you can catch the north wind laying the surf down, usually after these first few cold fronts start coming in. You can really get some big trout on top waters.
  18. Hmmm.... I wonder what it is that Gasilla is smelling? Great stuff there. I love that innuendo. That is a comment right up my alley and I am ashamed that you beat me to it.
  19. That is kind of like: I guarantee a win ........unless we lose. You know, when Joe Namath made his now famous guarantee of a win over the Colts, he didn't qualify it by adding that they could possibly get beat. ;D
  20. Bow only areas would be great if that was all that is allowed. What about squirrel hunters when the season runs concurrently with bow season? I bow hunt every year on my lease (the only way I took one last year) and have hunted in south Texas on a bow only ranch. I have a hunt coming up in south Texas in November.
  21. From an outsider looking in, the cardinal looked better.
  22. I've thought about it before I got on my current lease. I've been to some Type II land but never deer hunted on it. It is my opinion that such places are probably just too crowded. I know some areas are not heavily traveled but you are going into the wood no knowing who is hunting near you or who may walk up on a great spot that you found. Having said that, I would still give it a try if I couldn't afford a lease and especially if I found some Type II that was hardly used.
  23. I thought about that also. It seems that they have more in common in student numbers with the smaller schools than the bigger ones.
