  1. Time is tick tick ticking away and it is almost Friday................
  2. I believe that they work because I have talked to several people that have used them (not just hearsay) and they all say that they work. I was wondering out spooking the deer though. How close have you gotten to deer while using it? I have been within about 15 feet of deer while bow hunting and I am always worried about scent spooking them.
  3. Raidernation has gotten this one right. It doesn't matter how you get to 5-0, it only matters that you are. I don't see Nederland getting any bonus points for beating teams with a better record. They are still only 5-0.
  4. stangchain, So that long explanation just means that you would keep the same format as we have today but Div 1/large school would have two schools represented and Div 2/small school would have one school. Is that correct? That way you would give a break to the small school by reducing the number of games to the championship by one game. I wouldn't have a problem with that. It is a 50/50 chance which division you end up in anyway, according to which other teams end up in the top three. Nederland has been Div 1 for some years and Div 2 for others.
  5. Hey, titan finally said something that I agree with.
  6. Two different states playing under different rules. LHSALLZONE, PN-G and Nederland are in the same state and play under Texas UIL rules. If you need anymore help, please don't be shy.
  7. I can't make any sense of that plan. So once you get your top two teams, how do you pick the third? Do you theoretically split the district in half by enrollment and whichever of the smaller teams has the best record (no matter what it is) makes the playoffs? What if two of the smaller schools make the playoffs as happened many years with WO-S. Then you could have a six team district split 3/3, big school/small school. So two of the smaller schools get #1 and #2 in district, putting them in Div 1. Does the third small school then get the other spot as the small school rep since the two other small schools went as the big school/Div 1 as you suggested? Otherwise, you would have to pick the better of the big schools and put them down in Div 2/small school.
  8. This is the second thread that I have looked at where LHSALLZONE has hoped for a tie between Nederland and PN-G. NEWSFLASH: There are no more ties in high school football in Texas. Sorry LHSALLZONE but Lumberton (if they win) will have to share first place. If you are confused about any other rules, please post the questions in the forum. We are always glad to help.
  9. LHS must be having flashbacks to days when they had ties in high school football or is typing while asleep. It's okay LHS, sit back, relax and your memory will come back to you or you will wake up, whichever it is.
  10. They are getting a lot of negative feedback but they are going to push ahead to get what the people don't want. Go figure.
  11. I had hoped that Nederland could have played SLC, Lufkin and then Odessa Permian but when Neumann tried to get them, he found that Lumberton and Coach C had beaten him to the punch. ;D
  12. "Make it"? I am assuming that you mean they can compete and go to the playoffs on occasion. They haven't even shown that they can "make it" in 4A yet. Lumberton has however shown that with 1,400 students, they can compete very well with many of the small 3A schools.
  13. Well, it was one or the other so they opted for the other.
  14. If you would have been hunting with me from the mid 70's to the early 80's you might have been burned out. ;D Back in the days of the 10 bird limit, two other guys and I used to bring back 30 birds quite often.
  15. Better chance of an asteroid hitting.
  16. PN-G whining again.. you bet. Already used to it. ;D
  17. The "what if" people. Nederland would have gone once as the district champion even though it was a tie for first place. Nederland would have gone on point spread. I wonder if PN-G would like to have Nederland's current 11 playoff streak or if they would reject it by saying that it didn't come by way of district championships. Heck, I bet that if PN-G gets third place this year, Matt Burnett will turn it down and forfeit since they didn't make it in first place. If it is so easy making the playoffs under the current format, I wonder why so many teams in the district find it hard to make the post season consistently, if at all. ;D
  18. I was worried that a day would pass with a new Lumberton thread. Now I can rest easy.
  19. Everyone knows that this thread is a joke but I have a confirmation that Lumberton was scheduled to scrimmage the Dallas Cowboys at Valley Ranch.
  20. Still on standby. The guy that had the spot at First Point was supposed to get that south Texas lease. He was going to hold his confirmation until he was sure that he got that lease. He still hasn't gotten back with us to say if he got the lease or not. According to him, it was a done deal, just waiting to sign on the dotted line. And I wait, and I wait....... I already have my vacation set on those dates.
  21. For a challenge it is definitely deer hunting. While just killing a doe for meat is not that hard, killing a nice buck can be very difficult. There is not a lot of challenge to killing ducks although the conditions now can be a bit tougher than 20 years ago. There are no real trophy ducks to be had. Sure you can mount them and one might be a bit prettier than another but it is hard to tell one greenhead/pintail from another once they are mounted. Which is more fun depends on what you like to do. If you like to pull the trigger and retrieve your game, then you had better bird hunt. If sitting for many hours alone for a single shot is your pleasure, then obviously it is deer hunting. I have done both many times and had fun on most occasions. At one time I spent way more time duck hunting. Now I only hunt deer. When I was younger I loved going into the marsh and setting up. Now, even if I was offered a hunt, I am not sure that I would go. It just doesn't have the appeal that it once did. I have had many more successful duck hunts, killing hundreds of ducks and geese. Maybe I just got burned out on it and it doesn't hold the challenge that it once did. Both are great sports and have appeal for different reasons. My youth was filled with duck hunts and now middle age is filled with deer trips. I think that I have changed from having the need to pull the trigger many times and go out to get the game to enjoying the quiet of the woods and waiting for that one chance at a shot.
  22. Let's see, he said "about 1987" so I will go with '86-'88. 1986 Nederland 21-12 1987 Tie 14-14 1988 Nederland 29-0
