Nederland has no revenge games. We love everyone and the excellent competition. We don't even hate Vidor for lucking out last year, WO-S for the bad call that got them a win, PN-G for beating us 19 years in a row, Central for beating us by about 50 points last year.......... ;D

All of that doesn't matter.... Kirbyville is guaranteed state this year.

No doubt that they should make it to state? I remember WO-S and their first year in 3A. It seems like they were ranked anywhere from 1st to 3rd in the state in the preseason polls. Didn't they lose their first round playoff game that year againt Huffman, a team that was beaten the next week by Palestine 52-14?

Katy might have drawn some big crowds but I would be rather disappointed if a team from Houston playing for the state championship in Houston (with a population of several million) could not fill up the Dome. At that point they are the only game in town. PN-G filling their seats about a six hour drive away is a bit different.

It would be an upset if Central won. I guess if they were going to pull it off, the first game of the year would be the best time to catch someone napping but I think Lee takes this one.

I like it cool but I guess it is according to how you define "cold". It is no fun when it is miserable from the cold but in the 40's (my definition of cool) with no wind, it is great. Being 30 and windy with a chill factor of 18 (cold) is not any fun for a spectator or a player.

A long time ago when I was in school is was fairly routine. I thought nothing of it even back in junior high school. I don't remember the coaches directing at any player by calling him names. It was more like performance based such as... "that kind of playing is *%#@" or "you have better get to moving or I'll put my foot up &^%$ *##". I've had some of it directed toward my and I never felt disrespected by it. I thought it just added color and seriousness to the coach's tone. I know that I took it more seriously than if he had said..."Gee, I wish you would try harder".
