  1. I wonder if he still can't wait when it looks like the starting quarterback, who the whole offense is supposedly built around, is out for the season. Good luck to his sophmore replacement, Bellow.
  2. No, they lost because "they" were outscored not just the kicker. Nederland missed two extra points of their own, one kicking and one for a 2 point attempt. Both teams had 4 touchdowns and both teams missed extra points. The difference in the game was a 35 yard field goal by Nederland. It is all part of the game.
  3. Didn't they start 3-0 last year on the way to the predicted district title?
  4. Great bio but who the heck are these setxsports.com people?
  5. win one for the Griper.
  6. Please post what row you will be on so we can have security standing by for the meeting.
  7. Time to turn into a worm and try to dig a hole into the ground.
  8. Yep. If your hair starts standing up, you are a potential next target.
  9. I think Lumberton's first district game is against Dayton so they can show the rest fo the league what they are made of right away.
  10. This thread sure got resurrected from the dead. Nine months without a post and then, POOF! Good luck to the Pirates and Coach Matthews. He sure gets them excited and pumped up to play.
  11. I think it is Yogi Berra that said, "This is like deja vu all over again".
  12. Everyone has the same chance but Lumberton winning district would be an extremely long shot at best. Challenging for the playoffs, maybe. For a team that has never been to the playoffs and seems to have won very few district games ever, I think you are reaching quite a bit but reach away.
  13. Knock off the sniping at each other and stick to the sport or the thread will be removed.
  14. Does the defending champion have most of their team coming back? If they graduated a majority of the team, I don't see how last year's team should get them into the top ten.
  15. I can't think of anyone that would believe that a player that is not as good should play because of who he is related to. This should be a very short thread.
  16. It has to be Lumberton or Vidor. Both are picked at the bottom of the pack. Dayton is coming in undefeated in this district and many pick them to win again, maybe undefeated. I don't see how any coach or fans will take them lightly. I don't see how LC-M is underrated when most people pick them to challenge for the playoffs. About the only way they can be underrated would be to go through district undefeated.
  17. He could probably have cut off a piece of his shirt and caught schooling reds.
  18. Get an assistant coach(es) that have done it before.
  19. I have heard that there may be a problem with Jasper's field not being ready. They are supposed to make a call on Friday to see if they are to play in Jasper or Nederland. Anyone else heard that?
  20. How about the 1984 game where Nederland snapped the 19 game losing streak to PN-G. Nederland was leading 13-7 late in the game and PN-G was driving for the winning touchdown and I think they were inside of the 15 yards line. Nederland held them out to hold on for the win as time expired. That was quite a celebration as the last second ticked off the game clock. I don't know if a team winning a state championship could match that crowd on that night.
  21. Nope. They won when Dustin Long was a senior in 1999. IF I remember correctly it was the last district game of the year. If Price hit the field goal, PNG wins and goes to the playoffs. His attempt bounced off of the upright and Nederland won 21-19 and that sent Nederland to the playoffs.
  22. Holding kids accountable for what, playing two sports? Dustin Hood from Nederland was an all-state quarterback and several times an all-district shortstop. He ended up at a division I school (Wake Forest) playing baseball. I wonder how many practices he missed of one sport over the other. I wonder if Larry Neumann held him "accountable" for being outstanding in two sports. How many first string basketball players will miss their first few practices when they are playing in the football playoffs? I guess the basketball coach should hold them accountable for being in the football playoffs.
  23. Yeah but there is no "Beaumont Bowl" game. There are three of them. Then look at Ozen's record last year against WB's, it doesn't shape up into much of a game on paper. Sure we don't know the outcome since they haven't played yet. The Dayton/WO-S game however looks like a good matchup of two probable district champs.
  24. As that saying goes: It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear to be a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. I think Coach McFarlin just removed all doubt.
