Vidor needs the win and the wheels seem to be coming off of Central. Vidor should take it. -

Great. I like it when anything Texas is near the top. Did the rating go up enough to keep the show? If that is the case, why the petition?
-
I didn't like it the couple of times that I watched but if other people like it, great. I hardly ever watch network television so I could care less either way. If the show is so good however, why is there a petition to keep it? The networks keep shows around that make money and can those that don't. The best petition that people can do is to make sure and watch the show every week but apparently that is not happening.

I was there and they were not louder. The only thing they had loud was those noise making bottles. If they had relied on their crowd, they would have been blown out of the stadium. -

A lot might have to do with readership. While Beaumont and Port Arthur have their names on their papers, their sales and subscribers go beyond the city limits. In the case of the Enterprise, it goes well beyond the city limits. Mid-County is just as big as Port Arthur and probably has twice the subscriber rate. Beaumont is not larger than Mid-County, Port Arthur, Orange County, Hardin County and the other outlying areas that the Enterprise serves. It seems that some people have a problem with the name on the paper like they have been cheated. I guess they need to change the names on the newspapers so it will end the problems. Maybe the Regional Enterprise and the Area News. Then we could all have a group hug and get along without worrying about the name of the local newspaper. Then the Beaumont residents won't feel slighted because the "Beaumont" articles are not first and the Port Arthur residents will not feel abused if "Port Arthur" articles are not at the top. -

Anytime you get a warning from a game warden, you were given a gift. They are few and far between. I swear that some of those guys would write their momma a citation. -
That is a lot of iinformation. Glad I don't tournament fish.

It is the function of the government to make rules and regulations that absolutely no sense. If they did, it would streamline the bureaucracy and cut the need for more money. -

With 5 teams within 1 game of a playoff spot, there will be some interesting games down the stretch. Central sure has fallen on hard times after a hot start. -
I could do Ling, Amberjack, Dolphin, Tripletail.......

What is the best football tradition school in Texas
tvc184 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That was the question that I posed at the beginning of this thread. Is the basis of the most tradition determined by wins. Anyone that saw the state title game between PN-G and Stephenville saw Stephenville bring about 8,000 people to the game and saw PN-G bring about 24,000. I think fan support, winning tradition, school spirit by students, school traditions like Permian's MOJO or PN-G's totem pole make tradition. -
I ran on 4 flats one time but I got home before the cops caught me.

I went on one of the cats (I think the Wharf Cat) out of Port Aransas back in the late 70's. It was a night trip of four hours. It was $10 back then. Once we cleared the jetties we got into some moderate seas, maybe 6-8 feet. That big cat was crashing into the waves and sending spray all the way back over the stern. We went up to the third deck in the wheelhouse and talked to the captain the entire trip out. Once he killed the engines, we went back down to start fishing. When we got to the main deck we found that almost every person (not the crew) was on the rail heaving. Talk about some chum. We made our way to the stern where almost no one was fishing and set up shop. I don't mind the waves but I hate to fish next to a half dozen puking people on both sides of me, shoulder to shoulder.

I have never gotten seasick offshore (and been in some fairly large seas) but the older I get, the less I tolerate bouncing around all day.

How are you going to cover 15 miles of shoreline in a day if you stop to work an area? :

I was talking to a guy that I work with just this week and I mentioned how we could correct the problem with fish and their osmoregulation. ;D I wouldn't mind any tips for keeping fish alive. If I am going to eat them however, they don't go in a live well, they go on ice. If I am not going to keep a fish, I rarely take one of of the water. I try to removed the hook while the fish is still at the side of the boat. Except on lures with treble hooks, I normally bend the barb flat and essentially fish with a barbless hook. I almost never lose fish and it makes the hook much easier to remove. For some tough mouth species, I think the barbless hooks actually increase your chances of actually setting the hook.

Licenses- Hunters Ed. on License Question Answered
tvc184 replied to gringo's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It is stupid not to have it printed on the license and too easy to do. You could even program it to print on every license. It could say "NOT REQUIRED" for us old codgers and say something like "HUNTER EDUCATION MET" for those born after the required date. That way all licenses would readily state if you are legal or not. It sure doesn't seem to be a problem putting that information on driver's licenses when a person is under 21. -
Therein lies the point. No one has a clue what the UIL will do and they almost always leave people scratching their head trying to figure out how they came up with the alignments.

Every dog has his day. PN-G will have winning teams and be in the playoffs just as most other teams. In goes in cycles. Lumberton however......
