  1. I have never used a bonus redfish tag but it is the principal. It already costs $5 more to fish in saltwater than freshwater. If they don't stop the stamps and permits, where will it end? State duck stamp, archery stamp, whitewing dove stamp, redfish tag....... if they went up $2 on everyone's license, they would raise more money than they do selling all of the different tags and stamps. It seems like buying a new car and then you have to pay extra for wheels, seats, headlights....
  2. Put fresh batteries in it.
  3. Talk about a government red tape and bloated rules and regulations. The article says that the Texas Parks & Wildlife issues 161 different permits, stamps and licenses. But wait, an assessment work group decided that there were 61 too many license, etc. If everything goes well, Texas will only issue 100 different types of licenses. What a break through that is! One of their responses is a $3 charge for the now free bonus redfish tag. That is to (their words) "cover the agency's administrative costs of issuing the tags". I imagine that. When you go into Academy and trade in your used redfish tag for a new one that is spit out on a computer printout by a minimum wage employee, it is reported to cost the TP&W $3. So it is done on a computer in about 15 seconds and it costs $3? I need to get into that computer business. At a rate of about $700 an hour, I am pretty sure I can cover the admin cost of the stamp. Certainly no red tape or hidden costs there. The article calls it, "an untapped revue source". Well duhh. If you want an untapped revenue source, why not charge for each type of fish that can be kept. Heck, they did away with 61 licenses. They could add a few back without much red tape. Just think, the license costs you $28 in freshwater but they could make it where you can only fish, not keep any. If you with to retain bass, that is a $10 stamp for the year. Catfish, bream and crappie might come in at a $5 stamp. Maybe they could even charge a $15 stamp for anyone that fishes in a bass tournament. The stamp would be good for the whole year of course. No need to buy a stamp for each tourney.. at least not for the first year when they realize another "untapped revenue source". Now that I am off of my rant, why don't they just charge us for a hunting, fishing or combo license. Why all of the silliness with the stamps and permits? If they need $40 per person instead of the current $28 ($38 for salt/freshwater combo), then just do it. Why the nickle and dime stuff where it looks like you are paying more or less by the fish you go after. I think they have all gone nuts.
  4. Congratulations on a very good start for a career. Good luck the rest of the way.
  5. Reading on another local forum, they are debating if this means that LISD is going the way of PAISD and BISD. I think they are out of their minds for even contemplating such a prediction but it is interesting to see the insanity on that forum.
  6. Take a camera with a large zoom lens instead of in addition to a rifle.
  7. someonespecial, I know that it was your first post but you need to loosen up and tell us how you really feel. ;D
  8. I am sure that over the years we have seen lots of players kicked off of teams from high schools to the pros. It is generally standard to have a "no comment" stance on the dismissal of players. I think it has a lot to do with being professional more than anything else. You have already kicked him off of the team, why rub salt into the wound. If the person that has been removed wants to make a comment, so be it. The proper statement by the team management should just be that the player was removed for rules violations and leave it at that.
  9. This topic has been moved to Southeast Texas Issues/ Anything Else
  10. Wait a minute now. Not so fast. The ones that made it from Nederland are
  11. No kidding Gulls. Talk about redundant.. redundant.. redundant.. redundant..
  12. Quite true mac. Women can enjoy the outdoors just as much. They don't normally go back to the deer camp or get on bulletin boards and talk about killing and eating the beautiful sights. Women go hunting, enjoy the scenery, kill their game and talk about the event and the ambience. Men go hunting, enjoy the scenery, kill their game and brag about blowing stuff away. Therein lies the male bonding ;D
  13. As long as you put it that way, I will delete my post.
  14. Thanks however don't ask the women that have posted if this is a serious topic or not. ;D
  15. I would hope that they weed out about 90% just on their resume'.
  16. That is they way to manage it though.. and kill lots and lots of does.
  17. I doubt hunger has anything to do with it. More like male bonding stuff. Go back to camp and show what poor animal was slaughtered. That really gets to me when guys do that..... unless I have the biggest one and then it is great.
  18. Not bad. Barf bags extra? Actually I have gone offshore in some very small and very big boats and it never bothers me. I went to the short rigs once (when I was young and stupid/invincible) in my 14 foot flatbottom with my 25 Evinrude outboard.
  19. I resized the picture with another program. I used Microsoft Digital Image. Most other photo software will do it. There are lots of them out there.
  20. Nice boat. I bet the gasoline in that rig would cost me a two week paycheck.
  21. You just need to resize it.. like this.....
  22. You bet it did. Very good.
  23. I didn't want to put in those words, but..............
  24. Want to see pics of him when he was 9-12 years old? I think I can dig out my old Little League pics. By the way Diva... he is from Nederland.
  25. Go to photobucket.com Sign up for an account.. it is free and takes a minute or so. Then you can upload pics and/or videos to your personal website. Just click on the area under the pic where it says "IMG Code". That will automatically copy the correct information (the url assigned to that pic) for that picture. Then just paste it in your message either in a post or a PM.
