  1. And what a great comeback win it was. On the other hand, Nederland went on into the playoffs and Vidor stays home again. Want to trade positions?
  2. You are correct. You are an adult for criminal laws in Texas at 17 years of age.
  3. Well, that and killing off the does also. We kill lots of does on our lease and still have plenty of them.
  4. It is simply a matter of letting them grow up. There are plenty of deer but when you hunt an area where they go by the credo, "If it's brown-it's down", nothing will ever get past 1.5 years old. Once a deer reaches 3.5 years, he starts to get into at least the quality deer range and at 4.5 into the trophy range (I am probably preaching to the choir in here). You could get a couple of thousand acres, surround it with a deer proof fence and then fill it with fawns and in three years, you are going to be killing big deer and it will stay that way each year after that if no one will kill anything under 3.5 years old.
  5. I wish they would go statewide on those antler restrictions so the guy on the next lease won't kill them. If they would go statewide, in a couple of years we would all be seeing good deer with a spread outside of the ears. We have been doing that on my lease anyway but I see people kill some of the deer we let go after they cross the property line.
  6. As you mentioned, you have used the .243, .270 and the 6mm and all are effective in killing of whitetails. I was only referring to it being ridiculous as a requirement for a quick clean kill of a whitetail (which is all I was talking about). Not on this forum but I have heard quite a few people claim that if you aren't hunting a 300 win mag (or similar high powered round), then you are not using an effective whitetail firearm. In my opinion, that is a ridiculous statement. I have had friends tell me that they use a 300 wm because "I don't want to have the deer run off". Well I have only killed deer with a .270 and have never had to track any of them. A couple of friends/acquaintances almost seem to relish in the fact that they are using a real man's gun and I am using a lowly .270. There is nothing wrong with the 300 win mag or any other high powered round other than cost and kick but to each his own. It is just not nearly a requirement for a quick clean kill of a whitetail.
  7. Once an article like that makes it to the public news, then it should be able to be posted here. The arrested student, his family or the team should not be personally attacked but to discuss what has been made public by a recognized news source seems appropriate. There is a big difference between the discussion of public news with its effect on a team and personally attacking a person, team, etc. It should be okay to say, "his team will have a much harder time winning now". It should not be okay to say, "the whole team is a bunch of dopers and the coach is a low-life anyway... blah blah".
  8. From the news report, it is hard to tell what happened anyway. They list conflicting information, which is not unusual. Was it just a fight between students and a kid got a ticket or was it an assault with injuries? An assault is one sided but the article also mentions altercation which is a fight. Six other students were also disciplined. If the police are issuing citations for the altercation, why were they not given a citation if they were involved? About all that you can tell from the article is that something happened, the news media got wind of it and no one will likely find out the truth.
  9. Collier-Sharp ran a page on teams that showed no playoffs ever. They have not updated their pages in a couple of years so it might not be current but is likely close. AAAAA Houston Northbrook NONE (since 1974) AAAA Lumberton NONE (since 1966) AAA Whitesboro NONE (since 1936) AA Boys Ranch NONE (since 1962) Palmer NONE (31 years) Malakoff Cross Roads NONE (since 1980) A Bruni NONE (since 1947) May NONE (25 years) Savoy NONE (20 years) 6 MAN Lefors NONE (21 years)
  10. I would like to add something to that... but I just can't think of anything to improve it.
  11. I think that when he gets to be a senior and polishes his playing a little more, you will begin to hear about him.
  12. It will slow to a trickle soon. It was fairly slow over the summer and got active once the practices and scrimmages started. Then it really cranked up during the regular season. Hopefully the other forums will take up some of the slack.
  13. A couple of co-championships and one where Nederland would have been the loan champion by head-to-head.
  14. I have been looking at those and waiting for someone to give a review. Thanks.
  15. A lot of times when you see them throw back across the field, that is not a designed play. Their primary receiver was covered and the QB is just looking for someone to dump the ball off to. Since much of the flow of the play is with the QB and his blockers to the left, often a receiver or running back will come open on the far side of the field. It is just the way the play turns out as opposed to a play that is designed to for the QB to make a difficult throw.
  16. Then why are you sitting here trying to "legibly" reply to a post?
