"Could" they suprise Dayton? Sure, anyone can. There are always upsets which is why we go to the games. Are they likely to beat Dayton? No. Dayton is definitely the favorite going into this one as the polls show. I would bet that most of Dayton's votes come from forum members that are not from Dayton. On the other hand, Lumberton's votes likely all came from Lumberton fans. They have almost no support outside of their community. When Lumberton starts beating the teams that most people consider the top teams by history, then Lumberton will start getting some support from outside their own city.

After all of the hoopla by Lumberton fans of their version of the "shock the world" tour, it is time to show the wares. The easy teams are out of the way and the games that count now start. Is Lumberon really a contender or a pretender? By next Friday, we should at least have a good idea. If Lumberton has turned into a real contender, this district could get even more interesting than it already is now. Good luck to both teams.

When you say the alltime Southeast Texas team, that is a tall order. I don't know if any of the current players make the list although some may eventually. You would have to be talking about people like Kevin Smith, Little Joe Washington, Bubba Smith, Steve Wooster, Frank Middleton, Jerry Ball, Mel Farr, Shane Dronett, Gary Hammond, and so on.

I think they will be in the hunt. If they can get some improvement on offense, they have a good shot at the playoffs.

All polls are filled with overrated teams. If they weren't, no one would ever move up or down. No team would ever lose to a team rated lower than them. Look at any polls that you wish be it for fun like the setxsports.com poll or professional polls such as the Associated Press polls for high school and colleges. All of them change each week. Why? Because some team (or teams) did not perform as expected and were upset. That is the nature of polls and always will be.

So the people that voted on the polls have been right 10 out of 12 times when ranked teams play each other. But how can that be when the voters obviously have no idea what they are talking about since they don't go by won/loss records?

Yeah. I had answered two posts about the same question of record over poll rating. One was the power rating and the other being the setxsports.com poll. I got misfused on which one I was responding to.

Nederland is currently rated at #4 with PN-G being rated at #6. What are you talking about?

Anyone can see that Mosley is the offensive leader of the team. It is the same with most teams that they have a "go to" player or two. Nederland's quarterback, Alex Moshier, has already passed for almost 500 yards and 3 touchdowns and is about 50 yards from being the passing leader in 22-4A. When Mosley was rushing for 318 yards against Waller, Moshier passed for almost 200. There is no doubt that Mosley is a team leader but I think it would be foolish to think if you stop Mosley, the game is over.

Take Hwy 287 out of Woodville where it splits from Hwy 69. Another 18 miles or so and you are there.
