  11. I was watching YouTube about an open letter the twitter employees sent to Musk and it kind of said America as we know it will fall of he proceeds with these layoffs. đŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł
  12. Maybe AAW wants to be right more than 5% of the time. The 5% is like the blind hog who found an acorn. 😃
  13. Why? Control of a socialist agenda which translates to power for the chosen elite. The millionaires and billionaires at the top of the food chain will always be their no matter who is in control. The only real issue is how much freedom will there be for the 98% who aren’t in the elite class. Will your life be better if the government takes away every penny from Bill Gates and Elon Musk? The federal government in the first year of Biden spent $7 Trillion. The US government printed non-existent money and spent $20 Billion
.. per day. The predictable result is high inflation. If they got all of Gates’ and Musk’s money and made the paupers, it would fund the federal government for about two weeks. With the current high inflation everyone except the elites are feeling the huge crunch and it will get worse. The Democrats have the ability to convince a core group of people that if Musk loses every penny, your life will better. Gasoline at $5 a gallon won’t hurt you, the police are the cause of crime, tearing down statues is a huge relief in your finances and if men can use the women’s bathrooms and showers by claiming that their body parts aren’t really what you see
. you will be in Utopia. And as miserable as your life becomes, the people at the top of the food chain will still be there. The only difference is how miserable your life will become but at least the 98% of the people will be equal in their misery.
  14. Maybe they should call them the Battlin’ Smolletts.
  15. Oops, the vandalism to LCM was by

  16. Here is the poop speaking about the reality of politics vs being right. Everyone can see that Fetterman isn’t capable of effectively carrying out his job as a senator. Everyone can also see the as far as intellectual ability, there is no contest between the two candidates. If anyone was picking a person to run a company that you were starting, you would pick Oz if those were the options. However
.. Does any of that matter? Under our legislative system we have two houses (Senate and House of Representatives) which function independently. Both are required to agree word for word on any new law. Control of either house is determined by who controls the majority of seats. It doesn’t matter who has a more rational argument or who the public supports at any given moment or issue. For example on Obamacare the clear majority of the public did not support it. What matters legally is who controls each house because legislation cannot come up for a vote without the majority party allowing it. The Democrats held power in both houses which allowed a very unpopular law and economically damaging to a majority of people to be passed into law. Control of each house was the important point, not the rationale of the law. Had the Republicans controlled either house, Obamacare would not be the law today. The public punished the Democrats in the midterms with a crushing defeat. BUT
.. the public can’t repeat bad laws, only politicians. The Senate gained 6 Republican seats and the House gained 63 in a huge swing of power. It effectively ended any Democrat control over any new law for the last 6 years of Obama’s presidency. Obamacare made him a lame duck president for the remaining 6 years that he was in office. Why does that example matter? Because right now there is a 50/50 split in the Senate with Cackle Harris being the tie breaker for the Democrats. The vice president only gets to vote in a tie. That means if the Republicans gain 1 seat, the Democrats lose the Senate. Does either party care how they maintain control? The Democrats might have an incapable person intellectually in Fetterman but at this point all they want him to do is vote Yea when they ask. It still could potentially keep the Senate in Democratic control. Also, if Fetterman wins, he can assume office and resign. It goes by Pennsylvania state law on how to replace him and that is likely having the governor (currently a Democrat) replace him for the remainder of his term. So Fetterman might assume office for one day and help keep the Senate under Democratic control. So
.. Fetterman could be the worst candidate ever and 100% of Democratic voters could agree but that has nothing to do with controlling the Senate. They simply want to maintain the seat with anyone with a D beside his name. The Republicans at times (or most of the time) argue that they aren’t voting for that Republican candidate because he is a RINO!!! That is stupid because he still has an R by his name and by the rules, might keep the Republicans in control of either house. So why would the hard core Democrats vote for Fetterman even if they agree that he would be a horrible choice? Because they aren’t voting for Fetterman but the D beside his name. The Republicans are hoping that enough independents move to the conservative side of the aisle for this election. Sling Blade, Fetterman or Mickey Mouse? Does it really matter???
  17. I came up with a saying several years ago and have repeated it many times including in this forum. It was not about politics but about rumors in general but it seems appropriate after watching this video. “Say something once and it’s a rumor. Say it twice and it’s a fact.” I can guarantee and have tested it. If a person says “I think”, “I thought”, “I heard”, etc., the moment someone repeats it, it changes. The person repeating the story won’t say, “tvc thinks he might have heard something that may or may not be true”. Nope, I will simply be “I heard” or”tvc told me that he knows
”. Rush Limbaugh used to say, if you want someone to believe something, keep repeating it. His example was, if the talking heads kept repeating that we have too much concrete, it will not be long before people start protesting against concrete. I have probably given this example before in this forum but again
Be changing of police chiefs is always a big deal at police agencies. it is not merely like getting another supervisor while working at a retail outlet. Obviously a different boss in any job might bring changes but police work I believe is a different animal altogether. With that in mind
One of my police chiefs announced that he was retiring. Typically the next highest ranking officer is named immediately as the acting chief. That might last until a new chief is named or sometimes an interim chief is named. At times though, a city may look outside for an interim chief to fill in until a new chief was hired. So as the clock ticked toward out chief’s announced retirement date, all of the officers (over 100) were full of speculation, guessing, discussions on which way the department might be heading, etc. At the time I was a supervisor and one day was the shift commander or the highest ranking officer on duty. Basically I was in charge of the city and all responses. That and $9 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbuck’s. đŸ€Ș So
. during my shift meeting, as it was concluding and as about 12 officers were about to go on patrol, I asked a question that I formulated on a whim about 30 seconds earlier. ME: “Have any of you heard the rumor that the assistant chief of police in Amarillo was taking a leave of absence from his department and was going to be named our chief tomorrow or the next day?”. Of course they all said no. Why not I just made it up. My response was, “Okay, it is typical police BS so and nonsense. Forget I even mentioned it”. Off they went on patrol. The next day another supervisor/lieutenant asked me when the new interim chief from Amarillo was going to be here. Everybody says you (me) have the inside scoop and that he will be here any day. And that my friends, is how rumors and politics works. All rumors aren’t false but if you want to make someone believe something, just repeat it. January 6 was an insurrection, etc.

  19. I think the maximum punishment of up to $30,000 in damages is a State Jail Felony which is a glorified misdemeanor. It carries a two year maximum sentence. For a first time offender it is routinely sentenced as probation. When Ann Richards was governor in the 90s, the state jail felony was created to help reduce overcrowding in prisons (under federal mandate) so some crimes were reduced from a 3rd degree felony with a maximum of 10 years to a state jail with the 2 year maximum, with the option of being reduced to a misdemeanor. I think the intent was to be able to call some crimes felonies to retain the convicted felon provisions and enhanced punishments if subsequently convicted yet sentencing to just over a misdemeanor. It is likely that “throwing the book” at them will be probation which might include things like community service.
  20. I wish that they could get (if caught) what I think is a just punishment but it isn’t legal in this country. I was thinking of Singapore where you do your time i jail/prisoner but are the caned before being released.
