Rebel Yeller

Congrats Lamar! You have to be excited about how football has restarted at LU. The Stadium looks awesome from the pictures, a sold out game, a great crowd that traveled last weekend and the performance on the field. I would not be surprised to see Lamar come out with it's first voctory in their first home game. Now that would really raise the level of excitement!

The Rebels will put a 19 game regular season winning streak on the line this week against Trinity. They are 2-0 like the Rebels with wins over Normangee and Grapeland. Trinity is a 2A team and from the Evadale coaches I am told they have some fine athletes. This will be a big test for the Rebels, so what are your thoughts on how the game comes out on Friday.

As a Evadale fan I think it was a good call to go for two. I liked that the Rebels stopped it, but at the time it looked like the momentium had changed sides of the field and as has been pointed out about the kids throwing up and cramping up, I am not sure that it would have been a good idea to pin hopes on overtime. I wish the Pirates well the rest of the season. I know you have some distances to travel, but I would imagine that most of those bus rides home are going to be just fine for you.

[/quote] I agree with Blue on this one, this years team is very focused and they know that every team that they play will be bringing thier "A" game with they face the Rebels. This group of seniors had experienced a great deal of success in thier years in high school. Two striaight district football championships, including last years undefeated season, three straight undefeated baseball district championships including last years run to the state championship game, getting back to the playoffs in baseball last year for only the second time since the state championship in 2000 and a distirct track championship last year. They understand that when you win everyone wants to beat you. They also know that it is more about what they do to prepare than it is what the other team does. This group just loves to win and they know it won't be easy, but the end result will be worth it!

Great job Jackets! I am sure that all the fans got their moneys worth at the game. You have to love all the flying around the players do and you have to be real careful scheduling those trips to the concession stand and the bathroom. You can miss a lot in a few short minutes with that game!

I always enjoy going to the island, but have not been involved in a football game there since Sept of 1976 when my team travel from Ft Worth to play Ball High. I am confident that the Rebels trip there will go much better than mine did 34 years ago. That's right guy's just after the leather helmet days. Good luck Rebels!

Well it is almost here! The start of another football season. Friday night lights and all that. JV squads will kick off tomorrow and then the varsities on Friday. Remember that all our kids have to travel to and from games on buses so be sure to give those yellow things plenty of room when you see them, that goes for during the day as well as in the evening. Be careful going to your game. It was sad to hear about the teacher that was killed in the accident after her first day of classes. That is how fleating life can be and we all must pay attention and drive safely. Remember that every high school athlete is a 15 to 18 year old guy or gal many who can't drive alone in a car yet are just kids. They have their entire life ahead of them and this season and the games will hopefully be a fond memory in a yearbook or scrap book some day, but it is not the beginning or endding of the world. It is just a game! They will still be someone's son or daughter when its over and their self worth has nothing to do with wins or losses. Let's be sure we "has been's" and in some cases "never were" allow our athletes to feel good about who they are and what they have accomplished just by being on the team.

Lets all remember that the real season begins in Galveston on Friday. Hopes and Dreams aside every team even the ones who won State Championships last year have to suit up, line up and put up a win, week after week. On November 6th we will all know if our team is bound for the playoffs or headed for the gym. Let's just enjoy the ride, shall we!

First allow me to congratulate the Lions! Coach Stewart had them ready to compete. Excuses are just that, excuses. I told my son who was mad last night after the scrimmage, "Would you rather loose when it does not count on the record or when it does?" Well of course it you ever have to loose you want to do it when there will be no record of it. The Rebels had an unusual week of practice, well of walk throughs. Each afternoon when the Rebels hit the field they were forced to move inside due to lightning. Any one who knows football knows that you can't get prepared when you can't hit or run pass routes. But no excuses from Evadale. Our team will take this and use it as a teaching tool. They will put it behind them and move forward. We wish the Lions a great season, just as we did the Warriors last week. Next week the Rebels [size=16pt][b]will [/b] [/size] be ready and then the records will count, [size=18pt][b]so don't count us out! [/b] [/size]

Looking forward to a spirited scrimmage. The Rebels looked very good last week in Warren and I am sure that the coaches want to see continued progress as the season draws near. Hope the weather cooperates and both teams can get the work in that they need.

2A-1A & Private Schools 2A 1. Newton (until someone knocks them off)huac 2. Anahuac 3. East Chambers 4. Buna ? Will this new poll include the teams that are in Deweyville's new district which could change some positions. The division 1 and division 2 districts will make polls even more difficult this year. 1A 1. Evadale 2. Colmesneil 3. Hull-Daisetta 4. High Island 5. West Sabine Again the division 1 & 2 will make this somewhat more difficult even though several games will be played between D1 and D2 team in the area, also what about Lovelady will they be included? Private Schools 1. Kelly (I wonder if they will ever jump to the UIL like other successful TAPS schools have done? They are also large enough to be considered with the 5A-3A schools so where will the actually go?) Not sure about other schools where they should be on the list? Know the poll will be Top 15 in the combined, just wanted to know about a few things and how they will be handled.
