1. The Rebels hope to make a run at football like they just did with baseball. There are plenty of starters and tested backups returning from last years 10-1 team. Should be a another great year for the Rebels!
2. I have no problem with the way DCTF has our district ranked. I had heard that Chester was exploring moving to 6 man as they only have 13 or 14 coming out for football next season. Anyone know anything about that?

4. I believe that the Rebels will make some noise this season. Being in 1A D2, will keep us from meeting the likes of Lovelady and Mart in QB Billy Nichols. On the D side all three linemen, 3 of the four LB's and one safety. Plenty of talent that will be juniors coming up from a successfull JV team and the nine seniors with more 5 of them being not just starters but three year starters. We can do away with the weak district talk as the Rebels just proved in baseball. Do not be surprised to see this years Rebels making a run in the playoffs and getting that monkey of the football teams back!
5. Hey Grad This is a great thing! I know it takes lots of time and effort, but it is greatly appreciated by myself and plenty of other people. It is hard to believe that football is right around the corner. In fact the first scrimages are only two months away. We will be watching our Rebels at "Midnight Madness" in only 52 days. After our trip to the state final in baseball there are plenty of people that are very excited that with our move to D2 in football that Evadale can make some noise, especially with the senior class we have coming back this year. Only time will tell, but having gotten a taste of an almost State Championship this group of guys is fired up about making that kind of run in as many sports as they possibly can in 2010-2011. Can't wait to read about all the schools in SETX. It is kind of interesting that you can be so interested in school that are in different classifications and even different districts inn the same classicication. True football junkies even enjoy reading about their arch rivals thinking ahead to that game in a few weeks or months. Let the hype begin!
6. WHAT A RIDE! I know that each of the players wanted different hardware as a result of yesterdays game. To work so tatehard and come up short is a difficult pill to swallow, but in time each of you will see this season as something to take pride in knowing that you had a wild ride that you will remember your entire life. You won 30 games, you were undefeated in district, you won four playoff series including knocking off the #1 and #2 ranked teams in the state and Cayuga only lost one playoff this year and that was to you guys! To the seniors Hayden, Tyler (TO), Dylan and Aaron thanks for a great year and much success as you move on to the next stage of your life. To the juniors Tyler, Billy, Chase, Dustin, Chris, Josh and Wesly you have another chance to relaod and make the run again in 2011. It won't be easy, but you have climbed the mountain and in 2011 I believe you can stand on top. For now know that we are all proud of you! You did yourself and all of Evadale proud. Never hang your head and always know that you are our team!
7. I'm leaving for Round Rock just after noon as are alot of people from Evadale. It is exciting to have the opportunity to see these young men compete and continue to be successful. Tomorrow the Rebels will attempt to take the final step to get in position to win the championship. They have sefeated all comers to this point including the #1 and #2 ranked teams. But now rankings don't matter! It is one game to advance and one game to win it all. Everyone in Evadale is proud of these young men. We are excited for our four seniors to have this opportunity. Thanks to Aaron, Dillon, Hayden and Tlyer (TO) for your years on the diamond. We are all in your corner. And even as we prepare for this years state tournament I just have to remind people that 2011 looks pretty good in Rebel Land too! Returning starters in 2011... Catcher Billy Nichols, 1st/Pitcher Tyler Tucker, SS/Pitcher Dustin Potts, 3rd/Pitcher Chase Franklin, RF/Pitcher Chris Harvey Returning lettermen 1st/Pitch Josh Swift, Catcher Wesley Gore, CF Tanner Hawthorn, LF/Pitcher Devon Murphy Plus guys who have been playing up from the JV team since the end of their season 2nd Wes Williams, SS/Pitcher Ethan Franklin, Catcher Kyle Taylor, CF Hunter Jackson
8.

WOW, and to think my Jackets were 1 out away from winning the series agaist Evadale until 3 errors in a row doomed us!! But, that's baseball, guess i'll take my crow with a side of "rebel" salad :D Cayuga has gotten to big for their britches this year considering they were a dump in athletics recently, guess if you are a "flash-in-the-pan" you think you're the top dog now days. Looks like my Jackets gave Evadale the hardest series all year, good luck in Austin.
In my opinion, youre correct.  I feel the Alto/Evadale series was the best we've been in.  No disrespect to the #1 and #2 teams we've recently dispatched, but Alto was our toughest test....IMO.
Mo is good and Mo is wise and I agree that Alto was the best series we have been in.
9. Another great outing for the Rebels! It is kinda scarry though, I believe that the Rebels have not played their best ball yet. This group has some times when an individual gets down on himself for something that happened, but there are always others there to pick them up and get them back in the game and on their game. The team has battled back from two first game losses to win series, (Area vs. Alto and Reb semi vs. Overton) They handled two series in just two games (Reg quarter final vs. Douglas and Reg final vs. Cayuga) This team just finds ways to win. The pitching has been outstanding in 8 playoff wins and I still believe that without the error early in game one vs. Overton that the Rebels would have won that series in only two games. The defense in the field has been awesome especially in the cluch times. The outfield of Cravey, Anthony and Harvey is doing the work. The infield is soldid with Franklin or DuBose at 3rd Potts at SS Ousley at 2nd and Tucker or DuBose at 1st. Billy Nicholss has caught every pitch from every pitcher in every game going two games back to back a couple of times. Tucker, DuBose, Franklin, Ousley have just been a force on the hill, it does not seem to matter who is pitching except for a couple of times the Rebel staff has been more than up to the task. The Rebels are doing the job at the plate from 1-9. Potts is getting on base and as we saw today can hit for power. Nichols in the 2 is moving runners and has delivered some cluch hits. Franklin drove in the first couple of runs with a shot off the wall that I thought was going out. Tucker gets hits or gets walked. Ousley delivers game after game. Harvey hit a rocket that scored two and he ended up with a triple today. DuBose has moved runners and he went yard against Overton in game 2. Cravey has been on base and delivered a couple of RBI's from the 9 hole.  Not sure of the time or the opponet the Rebels will face next, but one thing is perfectly clear. No matter who, no matter where, no matter when all the Rebels know how to do is WIN!
10. The Rebels were very focused today. They took care of business and with the number of pitchers that the Wildcats used it seems difficult to believe that the Rebels can not seal the deal. All we heard about was the Wildcat pitching, but from what we saw today I believe that the #1's from Alto and Overton were better than anything the Rebels faced today. I know you can't count on anything until it is in the book, but you have to love the Rebels chances tomorrow as DuBose will likely take the hill in the first game. Tucker only pitched a couple of innings so he could still relieve if needed, Ousley and Potts could come in as well. If the Rebels complete the series with a victory which would mean that the Rebels had eliminated the #1 and #2 ranked teams in back to back series you might have to question the rankings. I for one believe that the Rebels have been underestimated by everyone including the pollsters all season. But a trip to Austin would silence the critics of the Rebels weak district and that they have not faced good pitching and that they could not score the kind of runs that they do against qulaity teams. Well we find out tomorrow. Oh and one more thing...last one out of town please turn out the lights. [move] GO REBELS![
11. Last month the Evadale Catfish Festival played two All Star games that featured players from 2A and 3A teams and another game with 1A players. I know that we still have not posted the players or the stats from the games, but I can assure you that both games were very exciting and very well played. The Catfish Festival is excited to announce that in 2011 they will take the All Star games to the next level adding another layer to the format from this year. Information will be sent to guys and girls coaches at the beginning of the 2010-2011 season seeking nomination of senior players from class 1A to 5A, both guys and girls. The games schedule will be as follows. Thursday of the festival 4A/5A girls at 6 PM with guys at 7:30 Friday of the festival 2A/3A girls at 6 PM with guys at 7:30 Saturday of the festival 1A girls at 2 PM with guys at 3:30 All the games will be in the Evadale gym and the ticket proceeds will go towards the festival's King & Queen Scholarship Fund. The coaches will nominate players and forms will be sent to school from east of Houston to around Lufkin. The hope is to get the best 10 to 12 players for each team to make the games as competitive, fast pased and fun as they possibly can be. In the years we have done these games players are excited to have the opportunity to play with and against players that they have faced from Little Dribblers all the way through their high school careers and being able to put on their school uniform one last time was a thrill that they all appreciated this past year. Final dates and the adjustment of the time might still need to be finalized, but for all you hoops fans, you won't want to miss these games because they will include the best of the best all on one court for six of the best games you might ever see.
12. It is hard to argue with success. Since Coach Williams returned to Evadale the football team has been to the playoffs four straight years, with two district championships and last years 10-0 season. In baseball we have four years of district championships and we have not lost a district game in almost three years, last year the team advanced to the regional semi final and this year we are playing for the regional championship. We have some great young men that are part of the teams, but the combination of good players and good coaching is what equates to W's. I am very glad both of my boys have had the opportunity to play under the guidance of not just a coach like Mark Williams, but a man of character like Mark Williams. Go Rebels and bring us home that regional championship!
13. I forgot in my earlier post to say that I was impressed with the class of the players from Overton. At this point in the playoffs I know that being eliminated hurts, the Rebels felt that pain last year at this point. Overton had a great run that they believed would propell them back to Austin and the dream ended for them too soon. I know that they are disappointed, but class is a part of character and the Mustang players have that. I heard from the Rebels that the Overton players never talked trash out on the field at any time during any game. That kind of class speaks volumes for the young men, their coaches and their parents. To all of Overton, congratulation on a great season, but even more so for being a class act!
14. You have to hand it to his Rebel team. They have dropped the first game in two series and have come back to win both games of the Saturday double header to advance. There are times when things just line up and this very well could be the year of the Rebels. I will take nothing away from Cayuga, but I did not take any thing away from Overton either and it is the Rebels advancing not the Mustangs. Mo said there is no junk left as there are only 8 teams left and from the Rebels the course is clear and it goes through Cayuga. People have been down on the Rebels all season (what am I saying...ALL YEAR!) for playing in a weak district. Well the champions on that weak district are one series away from state. This group of guys just plays the team that shows up in the other dugout. So far it has worked out well and they are one of three SETX teams that have a shot to advance to the big show! Keep it rolling Rebels you make us proud!
15. It's only 73 days until 12:01 AM on August 7th for Evadale's Midnight Madness!

19.
Uh..not so sure about that. Overton has an incredible team..but, here are a few more things to ponder..REGION 1..Miles is the current state champion and although they struggled in Area, have been strong all year with perhaps the best one-two combination in state (both seniors..both committed to D1 schools). Hamlin has a lefty throwing in the low 90's and Clarendon hit 62 Home runs total this year..(These are stats I got from a buddy who lives, eats, sleeps 1A high school baseball..can't verify but I believe him!)   REGION 2...Bosqueville, Windthorst, and Axtel have great teams..all are very, very strong in pitching  REGION 4...Mart has incredible speed and a stud batting #3 and D'Hanis supposibly may have the best offense in 1A. Flatonia is also very good and very balanced.  So, I hope the state champion comes from Region 3..however, there is alot of baseball yet to be played. I love this time of year!!!!
21. i was just thinking...I'm going to miss being a part of the H-D, WH & Evadale triangle when football arrives in 75 day (my son has been counting for months). I wish Coach Henry success at WH except when he brings the Oilers to Evadale in late Sept. In my years in Evadale I know we have played both the Bobcats and Oilers for years and in district most of those, so change will be difficult, but change happens. We will just have to renew the rivalry in basketball, baseball and track.
22. I always enjoyed watching Mason compete! He seems to be a solid young man who goes over and above for his teammates and his school. Congrat young man and if you will continue your athletic career into college I wish you continued success, but if this is the end of that part of your life, I believe you will be successful at whatever you strive for next in life. Thanks for being a classy competitor!
23. The Jackets kept the Rebel bats quiet for 21 innings, but they finally came out to finish them off in the 5th of game 3, scoring 8 runs. But to me the story was the battle in game #2. 9 innning that DuBose pitched a great game in. Timely hitting to keep the Rebels close or tied with the Jackets and finally the bottom of the ending with Harvey head first sliding into home for the winner. So Thursday it is back to Huntington and a repeat of last year regional quarter final with Douglas. Both teams played well last year so this should be another good series. Great Job Rebels! Keep it rolling.
