Who will have the best O-Line next year
Rebel Yeller replied to JRF1992's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Evadale has all five starters back on the O line plus both tight ends. Most of them were 1st or 2nd team all district selections plus there are three second teamers coming back along with 3 or 4 that should move up from the JV squad. Now that's not bad for a 1A school! -
Great season Lady Rebels! You are still the best 1A team in SETX country. Now is the time to get ready for a run in the playoffs.

Facilities Upgrades at Evadale
Rebel Yeller replied to Rebel Yeller's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Just an update on the Rebel facilities update The outfield fences on the baseball and softball fields are complete the "Green Monster" in left field will make for some interesting plays for left fielders. The new softball pressbox is complete. The baseball batting cage is getting its remodel now and the posts are in the ground for the new softball batting cage. A new scoreboard for the softball field should arrive soon. The school board is waiting to let bids from the new bleachers for the football stadium and the renovations to the pressbox. Remodeling of the football concession stand continues and should be finished soon. The track is ready for the up coming season and it looks great! Not an athletic facility, but the foundation for the new ag barn and show arena has been poured. The contractor is awaiting the steal building at this point, but it will be a very large structure that will be a great asset to the Ag program and the community. Just thought some might be interested in the progress! -
Best High School Basketball game??
Rebel Yeller replied to UncleDrew's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Liberty Hill @ Lake Travis 1992 Lake Travis won 102 to 100 in regulation. Liberty Hill lost in one of the 2A semi final games in Austin that year to Abernathy in overtime. Abernathy went on to win the championship.Lake Travis I believe lost the regional final that year. Liberty Hill had dropped down from 2A that year and had LT in district the two years before. LH had been a good 3A team having lost the 3A championship two years before to SA Cole with Shaq on that team. It was a barn burner from the tip off to the last second. Over 2000 people at the game at it was wild. Two outstanding teams with two great coaches, just too bad one team had to loose! -

As the district season comes to an end...

Evadale Lady Rebels 9-0 in 25A only game left is Tuesday @ Sabine Pass Lady Rebels are 20-6 on the season and ranked #20 on the TABC poll. -
The 25A race will become clearer on Tuesday as the Rebels travel to Nederland to face the Sharks. The Sharks have a perfect record in the Bulldog gym and a win for the Sharks will move them into a tie with the Rebels with two losses in district. A Rebel win would mean that the Sharks could finish no better than third. Can the Rebels go 2-0 against the Sharks or will SP make the 25A race even tighter with a win?

The Rebels started slow last night due in part to the efforts of the Oilers. Too many Rebel fouls as WH was in the double bonus with time left in the first quarter. Good thing for the Rebels that the Oilers had trouble at the free throw line. They settled down and began to pull away leading by 12 at the half. Then the defense got into the grove and started getting turnovers. The team needs to stay focused on Friday's game against HI and not look to their trip to SP next Tuesday. The Sharks made things interesting in the district by defeating Spurger last night. I would like to get a tape of that game to see what they did to shut the Pirates down. The Rebels and the Pirates are now tied for the district lead with one loss each, while the Sharks are one game back with two losses. Going to be a great close to the district season. Nothing but EXCITEMENT as every game matters this year!

So how far is too far to travel for a non-district game in your opinion? There are only 2 5A teams in the area and I believe that they both play at least two area 4A's The 4A district has seven district games in the area (Livingston is some distrance, but it still district) The 3A districts are now north and south in their orientation and a couple of them play some area 2A teams The 2A district is in the same shape as the 4A district so they play in the area for 7 of 10 games The 1A districts play their share of area 2A's, 1A's from the other division and several of the private schools in the area Could you be a bit more specific on which teams you are tired of scheduling outside the area?
I think that next year will be about the same for HI next year as far as the playoff picture goes. Leggett and Goodrich will be solid, but 3rd should be wide open. Just based on what I can tell. The travel will be rough though.
3rd place won't matter next year only top 2 schools will make playoffs in 1A and 2A districts with the new D1 D2 alignment.
-
This is argueably the best 2A football district in the state. There is be nothing but big games on the schedule every Friday night. Newton will likely be the pre season favorite but with five or the eight teams being playoff teams from this year there will surely be an upset or two along the way. Great story lines... EC vs. Anahuac, Newton Barbay vs. Anahuac Barbay, Newton and Woodville both move, but both stay in same district, Warren vs. Woodville, Kountze - Buna - Hardin and Warren working to climb into the top spots against the other four schools. All of that and only two playoff spots! WOW! Sounds like an exciting season in 10-2A.
-
I agree on Evadale and Spurger, but would have to take HD even if HI is at home. Next years basketball district will be a tough road for HI to travel, and I do mean travel.
Evadale has got it made !!
From looking at 1A D2 Region 4 with the team that the Rebels will be bringing back this year I believe that they have a chance not only to get that playoff win that everyone in Evadale wants to see, but the opportunity to have a decent shot at representing region 4 in the semi finals. Falls City and Granger were ranked teams this season, but that would be the only ones, at least from a quick check. -

This how the Evadale schedule looks as of 3 PM. Coach Williams said they will meet with the other teams in district tomorrow and then he will be able to search for a final non-district game. Legacy Christian Deweyville Trinity Colmesneil West Hardin Community Christian Open Open district play against Burkeville -

I think my good friend MO is thinking about the Bucanners, another kind of Pirate. I would also say that the Pirates are a very solid and well coached team. I was pleased with the Rebels first half effort, but they fell short in the second half. I will be readyto see the rematch in a couple of weeks in Evadale.

Congrats Spurger...Was a good game at the half with the Pirates up by 5. The Bucs came out in the second half firing on all cylinders and the Rebs were very flat. That's a bad combination...(If youre a Reb fan) Both teams played with class and good sportsmanship. Mr McGallion had a great game and I actually got caught up focusing on him to see if I could pick up the open man before he did...great passer. Stay focused Evadale and take care of your business. 2010 THSBCA Preseason State Polls
Rebel Yeller replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Got to say that I am surprised that Evadale is not on the 1A list since they ended the season in the top ten after a Regional semi-final run and only losing 2 players on the rsoter with the All-State DH on the team. I gues it will just take a week or so for them to appear on the list again this year. -
Huddleuptexas Class 1A All-State team.....
Rebel Yeller replied to RETIREDFAN1's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Interesting list! Three players from Colmesneil, make the list while no one else from our district has one. Not that the guys from Colmesneil do not deserve the honor, but not a single player from Evadale the district champion? Interesting List? -
Should be a great game with plenty of fans in the stands. The Rebels have put together an impressive run in the first four games in district play as have the Pirates. Playing in Spurger is an advantage for the Pirates, but I believe this Rebel team just has what it takes to notch a big win on the road Friday night. My predition is Rebels by 4 in an overtime thriller!
Just wanted you to know spoonbill that they powers that be must have been listening as there is now a fence in front of both dugouts at the baseball field. Does not make them bigger, but with the fence moved out from the front players will be able to place gear gags on the fence to free up space inside the dugouts.
that should definitely help. you sure didn't have to tell anyone in the dugout to pay attention last year. there was no need to even take your glove off when you come in from the field. i'm gonna have to come check out that green monster. Evadale tops Hull-Daisetta 75-36
Rebel Yeller replied to Rebel Yeller's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There has been some talk about Evadale not having a true point guard on at least one thread. I am just wondering since the offense that the Rebels run is not dependent on a guard getting into the paint then what does it matter if the Rebels have a "true point guard" or not. The team is averaging right at 70 points per game in district with all 11 players getting into the action so the defensive pressure stays high leading to turnovers and baskets. 15 wins already this season, 4-0 in district play with a first half show down between the top two teams in the district, I think the Rebels are doing just fine with the players that they have on their roster. Friday night should be a barn burner in Spurger! -

They must have a curfew in WH when Evadale was there a couple of weeks ago we played both JV games with running clocks the entire game. They just don't like being out late on a school night, I guess.
