Sabine Pass at Legacy Predictions?
Rebel Yeller replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
As much as I hate to I have to agree with the MO! Legacy in a close one, very close! Just joshing MO. -
I say get ready for an overtime (or 2) thriller Kountze 28 HD 26

The loss of Potts will be difficult, but I believe that even Dustin would tell you that the Rebels are more than any one person. They are a team. Every team in the district is dealing with the injury of one or more of their players. It is part of the game! Kip Rawls will see time in that spot and so will Brandon Bruce. I am sure that Dustin will be back in time for the playoffs and he will be ready for them too. He is a competitior and he loves a challenge. Heal quickly and completely Mr. Potts!

I was in Bridge City on Saturday and I for one want to congratulate everyone in BC for an incredible job of putting things back together. I know there are still plenty of people working on repairs and getting their lives back together, but the community really has pulled together and done an outstanding job getting back up and running. There have been so many great stories to come out of the tragedy of both Ike and Rita in SETX. While I grew up in Fort Worth and have only lived in this area for eight years. I can truly say that there is a grit and determination here in all of SETX that needs to be praised and recognized. Great job BC and all of SETX for picking up the pieces and moving forward into the future!

Hey Grad I have a question on the math in the lower poll. Kirbyville loss to WOS (#1 in lower poll) and they move up two places in the poll Silsbee loss to Lumberton (#1 in upper poll) and they drop a place in the poll oh and to add to the confusion Evadale wins and moves up one in the poll, but are the lowest ranked undefeated team in either poll even with wins against two 2A schools. Not expecting Evadale to be #1 mind you, but I am a bit confused expecially with the two place jump up by Kirbyville after a loss. Ohio State dropped after their loss to USC a higher ranked team. Just wondering how a team moves up with a loss even if it is to a higher ranked team?

Not sure the Rebels can make a promise like that. Last season the JV was on the sideline and they play a quarter and a half from the 3rd quarter on. This year the JV has their own game on Thursday before the game so they will not be able to play in the Friday night game. You can be sure that if a running back gets an open field they will take it to the house. They all want to score when they get a chance to get their hands on the ball. It is also the week before the Rebels host HD, so you know that the team will want to get as much game speed work as they can. I do however expect Coach Williams will elect to attempt field goals when they are in range of the Rebels kicker, Josh Swift. But his range has greatly increased from last year so we could end up with a couple of 3's at least attempted. But I thought that the Sharks had improved this year, so I am really expecting a good game on the 25th. Only time will tell?

Congrats to the short list of SETX teams that remain unbeaten Lumberton, PNG, Vidor, WOS, Newton, High Island and Evadale. It is a difficult thing to go an entire season undefeated, but it goes without saying that you have to win from the beginning to have even a chance. Don't know it any of these teams will still be on the list by the end of the season, but congrats again being on the list three weeks into the season!

*Evadale vs. Kountze Updates..Evadale Wins/Comments*
Rebel Yeller replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The Rebels started great until they penalized themselves into a 3 and forever after having the ball on the Lions 13 yard line. If the Rebels had scored on that drive it could have gotten out of hand. But hand it to the Lions they played tough through the first half. The third quarter was maybe the best quarter of football the Rebels have played this year. Lock down "D" (Lions only 2 yards of offense in 3rd and a fumble recovered by the Rebels) and pounding "O" (100 yards of offense and 2 TD's) The Rebels have made it through the non-district portion of their schedule without a loss and with the off week this week they have the chance to get some rest and to heal up a few bumps and brusies. They have no major injuries and should have a couple of players back in uniform this week for practice that sat out against Kountze. Things look very good for the Rebels and as long as they take care of business each week it should be a great season! -
Like your spirit Big! The Rebels have come out strong in all phases of the game. It has been fun to watch them take a couple of teams apart. It is still early in the season and everyone needs to be working on improving their game from week to week. I pray that the injury bug continues to stay away as it has hot so many of our district school in the first couple of games. At our level one or two injuries can and often do changes a season and it is not usually for the better. I am not trying to curb your enthusiasm what wanting to keep every thing close and one at a time.

Sorry to hear about Mr. Harrington I hate for kids to have to miss games due to injuries. The season flies by and it is tough to lose any time, but you have to do what the Dr's say. I never have had fractured ribs, but I understand it is quite painful, just to breath. Tell him we are praying for him and hope he is back real soon! -

Evadale vs Kountze Predictions
Rebel Yeller replied to All Day's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Here is my take on the Rebels vs. Kountze. The Lions will have plenty of motivation as it is their homecoming game, they are playing a smaller school, they have beaten the Rebels for many years and Mike Stewart will want to do well agains his former school. Plenty of motivation I say once again, but I don't believe that it will be enough. The Rebels have started this season hungry. Hungry for points, hungry for keeping opponents out of the end zone, just hungry for wins. The Rebels truly want to finish their non district schedule 3-0 and head into district having 23A teams knowing that they have and can take care of business regardless of who they line up against. My prediction... Rebels 35 Lions 14 -

villemez hardin has to be player of the week
Rebel Yeller replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
My bad again I thought this was a thread for making a case for a kid to be player of the week. The young man from had a great night. NO DOUBT and he may have had scouts looking at him. But again the thread was player of the week, not prospect of the week. I still say numbers to numbers Nichols had a better night the only time kids from 1A get to play against upper level kids is in All Star games at the end of their senior year. Then maybe one or two 1A kids get a chance to be on a roster. But before we cast too many rocks at the 1A kids, just think back a couple of months to the THSFC All Star game when a 1A QB named Tyler Copeland was very successful against some of those 4A and 5A, 4.4 40's, DB's. Kids are kids some they come in all shapes, sizes and speeds. Great game Mr. Villemez and continued success to Hardin great start to your season, 2-0. Just like the Rebels! -

My bad baseball misread your original post and overlooked, but is his name Cillemez or Villimez and was he playing a team that was above the classification that he plays for? By the way who does he play for? -

OK combined numbers 163 Rushing 201 Passing 364 Total yards vs. 209 4 TD Rushing 1 TD Passing 5 TD's vs. 3 TD's Numbers are good for me! -
Before the Big 12 was formed the PAC 10 had its eye on Texas, but the powers that be would never have allowed that. I do believe that the Super Conferences would welcome expansion and having east and west or north and south divisions. The money that is being paid for TV contracts is mind boggling and if all the big conferences had 16 teams with two divisions they could in affect strangle the mid majors and then hold TV contract hostage for even greater paydays. The PAC 10 has a limited number of schools that meet their geographic, scholastic and football tradition standards. Don't be surprised if they reach as far as Fort Worth to grab the TCU Horn Frogs as they have become a real headache to the BCS and have a piece of one of the largest media markets in the country, DFW. It would also give the PAC 10 a conduit to the rich fields of Texas High School football. What a recruiting tool that TCU would have playing 5 or 6 west coast games a year and the other schools having the opportunity to come to Texas and scope out talent. The weather is more condusive to playing PAC 10 style football as Colorado and Boise State both deal with snow in those late season games. Do you really think Pete Carroll wants to play in Boulder in a foot of snow in early December..."I don't think so!" If the PAC 10 does begin to expand be ready for the other majors to follow suit as they try to incorporate the better teams form mid majors to boost their conference. If the PAC 10 does expand will someone please tell them that they have to say PAC 12 or whatever number they take so they don't sound "ignert" like the Big 10 with 11 schools. Instutites of higher learning that's just simple addition.

I would argue that Billy Nichols from Evadale had a better Friday night. 19 carries 163 yards 4 TD's 8 for 10 passing for 201 yards 1 TD and 0 Int Played inside and outside linebacker throughout the game too. -
*Deweyville vs. Evadale Updates/REBELS ROLL!
Rebel Yeller replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
These stats are unofficial, but they will be close The Rebels rolled up 445 yards of total offense 39 rushing attempts for 241 yards - 4 TD's 7 of 11 Passing for 205 yards 1 TD The Pirates had 217 yards total offense 30 rushing attempts for 154 yards - 2 TD's 6 of 14 Passing for 63 yards Rebel QB Billy Nichols had 19 rushes for 169 yards and 4 TD's and all the passing yardage and the TD toss for 374 yards of total offense Six different Rebels caught the ball tonight and the Rebels continue to roll. One minor injury to Aaron Cravy, but it does not seem serious. The Rebel defense handled the big and talented fullback of the Pirates holding him to 32 yards on 9 carries and 1 TD. #3 (sorry I did not get a Deweyville roster) had 12 carries for 93 yards including a 37 yard TD It was a good outing for the 2-0 Rebels. The coaches were still looking for execution from players, but they have to be pleased with the effort and of course the wins. Next up Kountze! -
