I agree with some and disagree with most. Each statement would serve as its own debate. More importantly, I appreciate your real reply.

A more non lethal approach would be to drop the machete or just stop walking. It was completely justified. Very unfortunate for his family.

I agree with savvy negotiating. I also think giving away too much can be counterproductive. However, companies nor citizens are flocking to Orange County. Our elected officials need to be bending over backwards to pull businesses and people in. If they lose the Chevron deal Crooks could be a one term judge.

You can leave my cable and internet out of this. But for example, my employer pays a good portion of my major medical plan. I can upgrade to a better insurance for a nice increase on my part. If I want to include my spouse on the major medical plan its $750 or over $1000 for a plan with decent copays. If I were to need to insure my entire family it would be $1000 for MM and $1300 for better. That is more than my house note or all of my utilities combined. While a know and stress the importance if insurance it is also something (thank God) that I haven't had to even use.

I agree completely, 100%. However, I also think it is a pipe dream to think a free wheeling healthcare industry will correct itself into affordable healthcare. I consider healthcare to be much more of a necessity than a luxury. We need to do what we can to make it available for as many as we can. I have random ideas but I certainly don't have the answers. I also agree the VA is a disaster, however where would many of our veterans be without it?

The fact that an employer may pay a good portion of the employees premium (which is mandated in some cases) doesn't mean healthcare is affordable. I just means your portion is more affordable. Inflated healthcare costs passed on to the employer reduces their profit and cost you in other forms of potential compensation from your employer.
-
Maybe you could help me out by passing along some affordable insurance options because I haven't seen anything affordable out there. Assuming you are paying your full premium and not supplemented by your employer or the government and assuming you are not a young person and assuming you don't have more money than you know what to do with? Maybe the term affordable is subjective. My employer pay a good portion of my insurance but my wife's is through the roof and the coverage is terrible. Fortunately we no longer have children to cover.

I have hard time understanding how anyone can defend healthcare costs (unless you are on the financial receiving end) in this country or be happy with the cost for health care (unless you are receiving a heavy premium government supplement). I know Obamacare has contributed to many of the rising cost problems but the system was out of hand before Obamacare which is what brought Obamacare on.

I would also like to clarify, once time served they should be able to vote with a photo ID.
-
It's a good topic and no one else replied so; I feel convicted felons of aggravated crimes should never be allowed to own a firearm. I think felons of non violent crimes should be able to own a firearm and vote once their parole has ended. They have then served their time. I'd be OK with all felons being able to vote once their parole has ended. Once again, they have served their time. My two cents.

My question is, where are the site moderators? There was a time when these types of insulting posts would not be tolerated.
-
I used to enjoy posting on this site but I don't post very often because of the attacking, insulting mentality that has grown towards those that disagree or share their opinions. I have read your posts for sometime, and while you seem intelligent and post some well thought out debates you tend to be aggressive and insulting all too often. I don't claim to know more than you or the next guy but I should be able to state my opinion without being insulted. I enjoy a good debate but not pisssing contests. Both end up with pee on their feet Peace out.

Maybe it's your delivery. For the fourth time, you started your statement off by saying "I guess you feel". Maybe you should have started with "this is how I feel" Let me be clear. I feel Democrats and Republicans are both contributing to the down fall of this country. I have very little respect for most. The media is falsely portraying the news and I don't trust anything they say. They all report the new to support their beliefs/agenda including Fox. Trump is a man that can not be trusted. His one positive is he has supported many of my conservative values/issues but that does not make him likable or believable. I'll respect him as our president but I will not blindly support his actions.
-
What part of my post do you not comprehend? Nothing you stated is how I feel. If you want to illustrate the mistreatment of Trump, that's fine. Tagging it to how i feel is inaccurate.
-
Your post started off guessing or insinuating how I feel. There's nothing accurate about that. You embellished upon my statement. If you want to illustrate something don't incorporate an inaccurate portrayal of how I fell.
-
My reply said none of those things. You're insinuating an inaccurate picture of my stance.
-
We all know that anyone in this country that disagrees with or criticizes Trump can expect an insulting twitter blast. He shows more respect and diplomacy to other leaders like Yun, Putin and the Saudis than he does our own GOP. This is not support for the dems, just a rational observation.
-
You mean Katelyn?
-
He should try such diplomacy here at home.

How would you feel if you were the third place finisher?

Right or wrong, we all have to pay for services we don't use. We could both provide a long list of things. As I stated earlier, we all benefit in someway from public education. Is 156,000,000 a lot of money? Heck yea. Could it be done cheaper? Probably. No offense, but you'd probably still be against a bond half that size.
-
This statement is from NISD website If the bond issue passes, will the tax rate for our senior citizens be increased? No. Taxpayers who are age 65 and older and have filed the appropriate tax exemption will not see an increase in the school taxes they pay on their home. The exemption “freezes” the amount of school taxes they pay at the time the exemption is filed.
-
The entire community benefits from our schools whether you have children in school or not. School/education quality affects home values. Schools affect employment which affects economics that all benefit from, educated graduates contribute to the work force, etc. There's a lot more trickle down benefits. If you were to eliminate the school system from your community, where would the the community be or for that matter, your home value.

It is my understanding that his mother had been trying to get him mental help.but the process is very slow.

Why toss PA and Beaumont out? They're still NISD's neighbor and their facilities are far superior. If NISD tried to pass a bond for less than was needed the taxpayers would want to know why there were still needs after the bond was passed. How would tax payers feel if the board came to the voters in 5-10 years for another bond? Had Nederland passed the previous failed bond the small approved bond and this one would not be needed. Nederland voted for board members to lead their district into the future. It stands to reason they have invested much more time in evaluating the needs than most citizens and posters.
