The school taxes we pay are made up of two types. The M&O (maintenance and operations) tax rate is what it takes to run the district. The I&S (interest & sinking) tax rate is what pays for bonds or other loan types. Each district's rates are formulated and capped differently. Anyhow, that's how I understanding it but It may not totally explain it. It can get complicated.

Nederland is in a position similar to a few other districts in our area. They have a very low industry tax base which puts the majority of the tax burden on home owners. Districts with plenty of industry can pass bonds with much less affect on the home owner.

Isn't most of the board still appointed positions? If that's the case, they should wait and let that decision be made by an elected board.

The Jewish Sabbath was abolished at the cross where Christ “canceled the written code, with its regulations” (Colossians 2:14).

“Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ” (Colossians 2:16–17).

“One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord” (Romans 14:5–6a).

I ate at Chick-fil-a the other day and their drive though service was so efficient and the level of courtesy was so impressive it makes me just want to go again. Not to mention good food. Other fast foods could learn some things from them.

The Day and Hour Unknown Matthew 24 36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,fbut only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. 42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. 45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’ 49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. 51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Negan will somehow escape and be a threat again. Should of killed him. I haven't liked Fear of the Walking Dead but it took a twist. Now Morgan is in the show.

Lucky the shooter did't try something at Blue Mountain school district in Pennsylvania. They would have thrown rocks at him. [Hidden Content]

Spectrum goes totally digital in our area requiring all TVs to have a box effective March 20. This was minimally advertised leaving many without cable. The only way to get the box is in the store. The store in our area was standing room only with the line out the door. Police on guard for control. Time for me to change providers.

Not exactly a sports movie but I did enjoy the sporting accomplishments of Forest Gump.

The Rev. Billy Graham, prominent Christian evangelist, dead at 99
mat replied to LumRaiderFan's topic in The Locker Room
Billy Graham laid to rest today. Watched CBS news this evening and midway through the news they recognized the funeral with a 30 second clip. Followed by a two minute story about Oscar drama. It's a messed up media in a messed up world. -
The NRA Has Killed Zero People: How Many Has Planned Parenthood Killed?
mat replied to Reagan's topic in Political Forum
Heard a suggestion on talk radio; Take the $500,000,000 a year the government gives to planned parenthood and allocate it for school security. Go from killing lives to securing lives. Simple funding fix. -
Too much attempt at a tear jerker episode and it got old. JMO Plus, we recorded it and it cut off the last five minutes. We did not enjoy the season opener.

According to an article I read testosterone/steroids were allowable because they were doctor prescribed. I'm disappointed the UIL has allowed this to go on.

Sorry, apparently you can't handle the responsibility. Saw this Saturday morning and there's so much wrong with it I'm not going to point it all out. [Hidden Content]
