  1. I think it could be fair to say this is highly unusual stuff and not the norm in other districts.

    gun free zones!

Police officers would be preferred but expensive. PA for example has 14 campuses I think, x $50,000 salary (which is low, right TVC?) = $700,000 per year for one officer on campus verses 3 or 4 well trained armed teachers per campus at no cost.
  3. It's hump day. Happy birthday Willie.     [Hidden Content]
  4. ...and then you throw in the divorce; it will get messy.
  5. I don't agree with much he says but this is one of his wiser quotes.   "When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don't really have to do anything, you just let them talk. That's what happened here," the President said.
  6. This is sad of Clipper players and fans during a great season. The NBA needs to figure out how to legally handle him and get rid of him in a manor to be least distracting through the playoffs. Racism is alive but the fact that a league and a nation can and will rise in protest and potential force a mega-million owner out says that we are gaining ground on racism.
  7. Most are not “wishing”, just the possibility of expecting. Why you ask? A couple years ago I believe the news reported the warehouse manager was collecting pay checks for two nonexistent employees and we never heard the outcome. The Enterprise listed the district’s salaries that showed “janitors” and grounds keepers making $70,000 per year. They were making more in overtime than their annual salary. There’s plenty of talk about Calvin Walker; who approved those payments? Who signed off on the completed work? Who oversaw contractor work?   I’m just saying, there’s plenty of questions and reasons for concern.
  8. It’s my hope that a new board will not be so supportive and defensive of unprofessional behavior such as not following district policy, overbilling, public rants, etc.
  9.     The mayor would be well within her rights to give a statement or opinion on the state of BISD. However, with a city councilman that has been so vocal and involved it’s probably best to stay quiet.
  10. There were no indications that there were any parents present and they charged the driver with providing the alchohol. I'm not sure what else they're looking for.
  11. The city, county and school district are separate entities and have no involvement or oversight of each other.   As far as Butch’s salary goes, if you all recall he was a finalist for the Dallas ISD superintendent position and the board offered him a huge salary increase to stay. On paper it appeared to be a justified move because BISD was excelling academically and financially. The unknown question is what was going on behind the scenes.
  12. Happy hump day brothers and sisters.   [Hidden Content]
  13. If someone thinks race is an issue then race is an issue whether the problem is with the accused or the accuser.
  14. I prefer the NIV version but am not really familiar with the different versions of NIV. Mine is certainly older than 2011. I have found a discrepancy or two in mine compared to King James but I still prefer my NIV for reading.
  15.  I think most of us agree on the basics. We just can't agree on how to get there or where to draw the lines.
  16. Once again, more qualified than Obama was
  17. Good Friday is almost over and Easter is coming up. It’s a three day weekend for some and a great time to dye and hide eggs, cook, eat candy and spend time with family. Food, bunnies and family are great but don’t forget to honor the real meaning of Easter. Jesus Christ died on the cross for you and me to pay the price for our sins. He rose three days later to conquer death and secure eternal life for all who accept him as their Lord and Savior. Happy Easter!   “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.” John 3:16-17 ESV
  18. The fact that she is a former first lady, senator and secretary of state makes her tremendously more qualified than Obama was when he ran for president.
  19. I absolutely understand but you can't just totaly blame the pawns
  20. I have to somewhat agree with  PAM . If someone says come get in line because we are giving away free stuff and offering living assistance, then the line forms, then you blame those folks for getting in line? That’s like blaming shoppers for the long lines on Black Friday. I also agree that many in the line are truly in need and many are freeloads. Our government just needs a better way of offering assistance and making recipients accountable.
