1. The HW divisions are much closer than the the other divisions. Most rankings have Strikeforce with at least five of the top 10
 2. Aside from the HW division UFC does have trhe better fighters. I think GSP will prove the pretty some. Another thing that supports the UFC as the best is the pay. UFC pays best which attracts the best.
 3. I'm a big Fedor fan. He's a great guy and is probably the best HW ever but those days may be behind him. I'm sure he can still fight but probably not a title contender. As good as he is/was, how could anyone continually defeat opponents 40 lbs heavier? It would be debatable if he is the best fighter ever though. I also agree Strikeforce has a great HW division. I strongly criticized him for not going to the UFC to prove his place in MMA. I wanted to see it but maybe he never felt the need to prove anything.
 4. Since we mentioned what ifs; It sure would have been interesting if he would have ever dropped down a class.
 5. He has missed his opportunity to challenge the UFC
 6. Arlovski needs to retire. Mybe Fedor too.
 7.
No, it's on showtime. Starts at 9
Thanks for the heads up
 8. I think GSP will not have any trouble with Shields. I also thing GSP and Silva will go the full five rounds. I don't think Silva will be showboating either like has in the past
 9. By the way; we lost all of our free streaming sites. It took me forever to find a site.
 10. Wow, Jones fighting for the title in March against Shogun. Jones is already the favorite. That's not much time to prepair. Shields did not impress me in his first UFC fight. I know if Silva and GSP fight, Silva will be the favorite but I'll be pulling for GSP
 11. I'm off of this merry go round. Time for chuch  :)
 12. Super fight on its way It was a decent night of fights but it didn't live up to the card hype. JMO I missed the Bader Jones fight though.
 13.
mat, no I didnt say that.  You can highlight all you want.  This is why I hat e message boards.  People read into things wrong, I did say that his cursing is what made him good, it was part of his process because that was the way he was. His way worked with using curse words, but I didnt say "he only cursed at them and that is why he was great".  Get your facts straight before posting rubish.
The fact that I refered to was was your statement. I feel you may be little out of touch to think B Knight could not produce the same results without profanity.
 14. Silva acted like a jerk at weigh in. I hope he either brings that attitude to the ring or gets beat down; one way or the other Each fight has the potential to be fight of the night.

He is who he was, and he got the best out of his yound men, alot of times young men that people said were very average.  Im not saying he never had good players, that is absurd, but he did more with little than most coaches do.  And he has the highest graduation rate of any college coach Im pretty sure.
To say that profanity is what made Knight effective would actually an insult to him.
You posted it. I agree no one is perfect but by your logic, it would be OK in the classroom too. And you are right; it's not for you or me to judge. It's the job of the superintendant and the school board

 18.

As a player I was cursed at during practices and in the locker room, but never on the floor. I have since seen coaches curse at players during games. Does it happen, yes. Does it happen in the real world? Yes. I find it interesting that when a person askes the other at work if he/she curses at home in front of the kids, most of of the time they say no. So, why then do they think it is acceptable to do it all? Why then does a coach, which let us not forget one of the roles of a coach is to be a ROLE MODEL, do it even on the floor during a game? The definition of profanity is: "Profanity is a weak mind trying to express itself strongly." Enough said.
that's not a definition, that's a quote, huge difference.
Pretty profound quote
Look I just dont think that GOUSH GOLLALY GEE WEZZ DANGIT  Gets the point across today
Point proven
 19.
there seems to be three distinct lines of thought here: 1.) it's ok and necessary ALL the time 2.) it's ok here and there if used judiciously 3.) it's NEVER ok maybe it should just be a poll. i guessed the option 3 folks would come out in the AM  :D i think it depends on the coach AND the kids. but to say a coach doesn't have good character because he uses option 2 is unfair, and i don't think one NECESSARILY needs to use it, but the whole rational is shock factor, to get attention, to make a point. if used judiciously it can be a very effective device.
If your coaching and motivational ability is dependent on profanity for effectiveness then you are limited as a coach and motivator.
 20.
At what time did I ever say that a coach had to constantly curse?? The question was coaches using profanity?? I never said at any coach should just F bomb everother word. But if your going to play sports past Jr high your going to hear it. And if your a parent you have to know that little Johnny is going to get a hear full, if he plays sports. Now with that being said I dont thank any coach should curse at any player on the bench in front of the fans. No adult should ever belittle a kid in front of everone.
So they should save the belittling for a private time.  ::) ???
 21.
These are great points ,coming form fokes that have never been in a collage or Pro. lockerroom at halftime when your behind. Coach K and Knight have a way to get the point across using a few very choise word at the right time. But a guess its all personal. But if your son is getting ready to head to a collage program, they had better get ready for the real world. Its not all rosses and candy. And if they not ready to hear profanity directed toward them they might wont to check into playing at a church leauge on weekends.
Wow TB, I didn't know. Please share with us your halftime locker room experience at the college and pro level.  ::)
 22.
Coaches do not need to use profanity and should not use profanity in coaching.  That being said, I have been around alot of good coaches and have been coached by alot of good coaches and they are humans like all and profanity does slip from time to time.  But every other word that comes out of their mouths should not be a curse word.  Emotions are high in practice and games and that is when profanity shows most often, is that an excuse, of course not, but i would say that if we polled most coaches would say that during their career that they have said a curse word.  If we polled most humans I bet they would also say the same thing.
I can agree. In the heat of the moment profanity can slip in but it should not be concidered as motivation.
