Well, I missed the live feed. I'm suprised Silva allowed it to go the distance.

Hopefully, I'm going to say today. Got a flame thrower up against a 47 year old. Of course that means nothing with no runs. 3 out of 4 games with zero runs is not going to cut it.

Thomas another in the WO-S talent pool
Actually Kickie the majority of the DB's are 6' and over in the Big 12. Even at 6' we're still talking 4" over 5'8". Big difference in my book. As a matter of fact, I only found one DB at 5" 8". You might want to go back and reread my original post. I did try to qualify the size by saying he must be real fast and a great leaper. Again, one poster pointed out the speed and athletic ability of the young man. No disrespect to the young man. It is just unusual to find a DB at 5' 8" in the Big 12. I hope for the WOS faithful he is a late grower and makes everyone proud. Again good luck on your state run.
"He is starting to receive some interest from Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M, and has discussed attending the same school as one of his current teammates". Maybe you should contact the teams list above and ask them what they see in him; or better yet, state your case to them about his small size. ;) -
Two games now without a run through seven innings

Championship Game Thread/DUKE WINS!!!!!
mat replied to bullets13's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Great game and evidently the best team won. One thing is for certain; Butler handled the pressure and never crumbled to the #1 powerhouse like most experts expected. I was certainly pulling for the underdog but congrats to all you Duke fans. -
Finally!! Now maybe WOS athletes can get some scouting attention and get some scholarships. ::)
Well, I guess I have to change my appearance before I venture back into West Orange. Yes, w. I am a fan of Ronnie Anderson. I imagine there are quite a few of those. I am also a fan of stability. That is how it has something to do with this. Stable programs have done well as WO-S. When those programs lost their stability, like the revolving door of baseball coaches that followed (including good coaches like Coach Thompson, Sam Moore, Steve Parkhurst and the like) that program had fallen on hard times. I would like to see some stability in the WO-S athletic program and I don't see that turning the program over to 61 year old will bring that. If someone were to tell me that Coach Thompson was committed to carry on 8-10 years after Coach Hooks hung it up, I would happily reverse myself. I just don't know that will happen.
Your logic could be veiwed as age discriminating. To just pass T over and just assume he would leave in a couple of years after getting the job he's probably been waiting for his whole career just doesn't sound practical or fair. And to just assume Newton will be around for ten plus years doesn't sound practical or fair either, especially if he has a couple of very successful basketball seasons. And we sure don't know the facts. Newton may have been given this newly created postion to keep him from moving on after his first successful season here; you never know.
I think it will be a very good fight, lesnar gameplan is easy get carwin on ground and pound, but can he get carwin down without taking a hard shot and getting stunned.
...plus, what kind of shape will he be in after his illness? He looked very overweight in his suit last night.

A move like this is a slap in the face to several people. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Will it encourage Hooks to call it quits sooner out of frustration or will it encourage him to hang around even longer to keep the football program going? Either way, I could see Thompson walking away with Hooks when he goes. With no upper level support and the coaching foundation gone this could start a downward spiral and that revolving door for the FB program.

GSP was rediculiously dominating but appreared to lack the killer instinct. He was technically perfect. Hardy had nothing just like I thought he would. Carwin and Mir was a total shock. I expected more from Mir even though he didn't look ready when the fight started. Carwin's much better than I thought and may have what it takes to take Lesnar out

Didn't know anyone kept records for "nearly been ten run ruled twice in one week". Live and learn. ::)

Promotional squabble stalls Fedor’s next fight

RANDY COUTORE COMMENTS ON FEDOR, ABOUT COMPETITION HE FACES
Venom, Please do not misconstrue my comments as frustration directed toward you. After re-reading them, I can see how they might have been taken that way and I did not mean for it to be that way. I too love watching Fedor fight. I think he is great, I am just becoming increasingly frustrated because the fights I want to see look like they may never happen. Or, may not happen with Fedor in his prime. I think he is allowing bad people to run his career and they are inadvertantly going to damage his legacy in the process...that's all. Please accept my apology for how I may have sounded yesterday. You are a very knowledgeable man and we are in the same boat on being huge MMA fans. Maybe one day we can catch a PPV together! haha Later
Venom's paying, right? -

Put the UFC aside for minute. Please explain why Fedor is not the Strikeforce HW champ and why has he not fought for that belt? -

I'm not ready to say Fedor is not the top heavyweight in the world. He may or may not be. I'd sure like to see him prove it. I will say he's not the best PFP fighter in the world. IMO he can't sit in his comfort zone and earn that title, in my eyes. -

No one questions his great career. They question his current status. And, can you say Paq was scared of Mayweather for not meeting his demands? I think not. If Koby never played in the NBA and spent his career in the French league, would he still be considered the best (some opinions) in the world? Probably not. -
Fedor could be the best but he's done nothing to prove it in quite some time. In his last fight Rogers (a nobody) gave him a tough time. If the experts, by what ever method they use, claim he's the best then sobeit. I doesn't mean the fans will accept it. Silva was considered at the top but some fans (including me) weren't buying it because of a string of lack luster wins. Then he decide to shut everyone up by moving up in class and WHOOPIN Forrest and continues to pursue others. He's proved it to me and everyone else.
-
If he's ever going to move he better make it quick, the clocks ticking on him and he's not getting any younger. I no longer think of him as the top PFP and question him being the top HW. A. Silva or GSP would be the top PFP. Since we're asking opinions of PFP fighters; where would Cyborg fall into the mix? I know she's a girl but she is as dominate as any male fighter in any weight class. Just a question.
-
A smart fighter won't stand with him long. Chances are, Dana will pair him with some one he can beat rather than someone that can beat him down. It's all about the show and I guess I'll be watching too. Its no different than the Strikeforce game plan.
-
I don't have my hopes up. I agree, no exciting improvements during the off season. There will probalby be teasing spurts that end up in a let-down. I'm a fan and hope I'm wrong.

This is why strikeforce will never make it, stupid fights like this.
Amen to that one brother. Seriously Canseco, what a joke.
So,,, neither of you would tune in to watch him get stomped? I would. And if he suprises us with a win, I'd like to se that too. (even though he is a big joke)

Rebuilding or loaded; either way, Hooks is not taking the easy road.
