There is no denying that it will be a tough win for the WS Tigers. They will have to play their BEST football of the season to even squeak out a victory. Should be a close game that could go either way. -
ey, im here lol, been abusy two weeks. heres my observation. past scores mean NOTHING!!!! SA if playing mistake free and smart football is still the team to beat imo. Everyone is looking at their two losses, well go look at tyler graces schedule!!! and go look athe the stats vs garrison . it was a loss but Sa is loaded!! As for WS it seems to me that they are going to be tough, still dont think they will beat SA or Alto. For one Alto will be very tough as always and im telling you this WS will walk into the most hostile environment in a long time next week at SA. so my top three are SA,Alto, WS. and if you look at it. all three have a shot a state along with mart. Our guys are ready and prepared for WS and Alto.and at ramfan, there is one guy on WS that is maybe better than SA's rb's thats lacey. thats it. as for alto i think their qb is a beast!!! so, there you go no bashing here, just have seen all three teams myself as well. and also SA has both WS and Alto at home. go SA
Glad to see you back jlc!! SA having both Alto and WS at home is definately an advantage. As I've stated before it will be a dog fight between these three to the finish but I will follow all through the playoffs....... BUT MAN, WS HAS to win at SA otherwise I will not be able to talk to you and CB for a whole year!!! And for some weird reason (outside of football season) I like visiting with you guys!!! lol -

How are the two young men that were injured from SA last week doing??
Let sleeping dogs lie...........lol! The guys are doing good. I think they will probably play it safe and rest them this week. They should be ready next week though.
That's good to hear. I was talking with the father of one of the injured players and he sure thought that both might be lost for the season. -

Alto is going to be a serious test for WS as will WS for Alto. Alto will be the most athletic and complete team WS has faced in the past couple years. Both teams will have to execute and take care of the ball to win this one. Either way it should be a good night of football. -
I was just wondering. I couldn't remember them ever being matched up with Alto. I can't ever remember SA not playing Alto. There have been some good match ups between the 2 over the years. One thing you can always count on when playing the jackets is that win or lose they are gonna hit you 3 different ways; hard, often, and continuosly! As far as the district title goes, I think the same can be said for all 3 teams. If any of them play smart mistake free football any of the 3 are contenders for the title. Should make for some interesting district play!
Agreed! And we can go just short of cutting each others throats during district but when it comes playoff time we should all back each other during playoffs even if that means that one of us sitting home while Grapeland or Shelbyville take our spots! It could happen! I want to see someone from our distict in Dallas! I will be there supporting them no matter who it is! -
Has WS ever played Alto? Just wondering.
I can't recall WS ever playing Alto.... I do know that the measuring stick for WS will be Alto and SA, however if WS looks past a sneaky Shelbyville team then it could be a looonnng homecoming night for the Tigers. I know that Alto and SA will be extremely tough for WS but if WS executes and plays mistake free then I believe they have a chance to win district. Either way this district will be represented very well in the playoffs and you could very well see two of these teams meet up again in the later rounds! -

At this point who cares who wins the WS/Alto game! Focus on the task at hand which is Shelbyville! Come on Pinelandflash, of all the sports gurus out there you should know this rule as well as anyone! -
WS/Shelbyville: Who you got?

Should be a 2 TD plus win for the Tigers but once district begins you cannot take anyone for granted! -

Really a person should not use these forums to bash coaches, players, or teams. One thing everyone needs to understand is that these coaches that you get on here to bash are absolutley proffesionals at what they do. That is what they attained a college degree to do. Parents, fans, and spectators need to understand this. How would you like it if the coaches came to your place of work or got on a forum pertaining to your job and fussed about how you did not do your job well and that you were not qualified to do so??? I am not a coach nor do I work at a school or even in education but I respect all coaches for what they do and I can promise you, these coaches and AD's are doing the best they can with what they have. The way I see it is these men and women that choose to go into coaching do it out of a passion and love they have for kids and sports, how else can you explain a person willfully taking a job that pays as little as thiers do for the time they put into it? Lastly, you need to remember that students/athletes read these posts and when adults (if you are one) get on here and belittle the coaches it undermines everything they are trying to accomplish. What you should do is stand behind your coaches and your team, it will amaze you at what a little community support will do for them!! BTW, to the Kelly coaches and team, I dont know if anyone has mentioned but you guys showed great class and sportsmanship last Friday night in Pineland. Thank you all for that and thank you Kelly coaches for instilling that quality in your players!!! That is more honorable than winning ANY game!

Justin Twine amasses 927 rushing yards for Hemphill in a 135-136 loss to Garrison ;)Just a little light hearted humor. I actually expect for the Hornets to win this game and show a much improved Hemphill defense. -
keep in mind that Davis a senior div 1 recruit beat the sophmore by 6 1/100ths of a second or half a step and had to come from behind to take the win. Twine gets top speed within 3 steps out of the blocks while Davis tops out at about the 50 yard mark. Two more years of conditioning and experience and Twine blows Davis off the track, if you were comparing apples to apples.

Final stats on the Magical Season of Justin Twine
STINGER replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I seen him play first hand against San Augustine. He is ok. His stats I believe are large from the weaker defenses he has faced this year. He is a real MVP for his team though. Without him they would not have been nearly as good. He also has his brother their as a running back to help. In fact it looked like he really helped to get the team lined up. I was more impressed with San Augstine. They have some impressive athletes their for a 2A school. I'm sure he is gonna have a nice career considering he is just a sophomore. His numbers are insane, but like I said I think it had a lot to do with the competition he faced. In the game I watched neither team could stop a runny nose.
I guess 187 rushing yards a gainst a weak opponent like Garrison says nothing of the kid, or 250 rushing yards against (as you put it) the impressive San Augustine Wolves says nothing (not knocking SA they are impressive), how about the 220 plus yards rushing he had against Corrigan Camden, 206 against Joaquin, or 350 plus against Buna, 250 plus against New Waverly, and you can't forget the 536 against West Sabine...... Every team mentioned above are playoff teams, 3 of which (at least) Garrison, San Augustine, and Corrigan Camden will have deep playoff runs and who knows may threaten for a state title..... Bunch of weak defenses, huh? OR, in reality, did he get over half of those yards against really good teams? MANY coaches that faced Hemphill this year have said that he is the best they have ever seen OR he ranks right up there with the best they have ever seen. I have MUCH respect for San Augustine and one of their coaches told me that he was the "most amazing highlight reel" that he has ever seen. Come on give credit where it is due. -
just know that other players have to get sum credit. as well.
I completely agree. I am sick of hearing how this is a one man team. I will be the first to tell you that Justin is in a league of his own however there are still other good players on this team that deserve credit as well and contribute weekly. Most of the "one man team" comments (if not all) that I have heard have come from the SA posters, just saying.
-
Regardless of who finishes where in district these Hemphill players and coaches should be VERY proud of how they have played and rebounded after last years zero win season. There are some very special players on this team that deserve to win and do well. And regardless of what everyone says there are good players on this team other than the Twine's. There are two really good recievers on this team and a good offensive line. FYI, the Hornets may not win another game this season, just as CC or SA may not, however the one thing that I can tell you is that nobody will stop the Twines from getting insane yardage and multiple scores.... Count on it!

Will be a tough test for the Wolves and thier "stellar" defense.... Can't wait until Friday night!
I am surprised that you even know what a defense is; being that you have not seen one all season! Any way, SA needs to come out fired up, and not flat like they did last week. This game is in SA, I see them taking it in a close win!
Wow, you never cease to amaze me, wearing that monumental sized chip on your shoulder, I can't even give SA credit without you doing the gum bump about teams that are not even involved in this thread. Come on Sally, lighten up...lol
How were you giving SA credit by that little jab that you posted? Lmao...
Stop reading between the lines, there was no jab. I guess the quotations through you off, but isn't that what everyone always says about teams with stout defenses and when quoting what other people say isn't it proper to use quotations? As JLC would say "Come'on MAN!"
