1. Went there last week. Fantastic atmosphere. The menu is limited now but what's on it was good. I highly recommend it. Be sure to listen for the shot specials! Every time a ship passes they ring a bell at the bar to signal the special.
2. I wouldn't look much into the week 0 spreads. It's based off last year at this point. Who knows maybe a real game will get the Tigers fired up? On tape and from what I've heard Silsbee isn't at the level of last year yet. I think they can be though.
3. Brenham (-12) at Foster
4. Just noticed High Island is on the road so I'll probably just head to Lamar.
5. Thursday- Hoping to head to High Island to give them some love. If not I'll be at Cleveland and Kirbyville Friday- Memorial vs Central Saturday- Possibly Ozen vs WB depending how long I'm at the Lamar beat down
6. LC-M was home, Bear crossed the center of the field first and tackled the Spirit.
7. Figured I'd list their "spreads" for all teams in the district discussed here. 8. Kirbyville, East Chambers, Sabine Pass, Deweyville
9. I came across a bunch of helmets from the 1980s but can't confirm the year. Including Central. Central, Kelly, Orangefield, Nederland
10. HJ is matte red now. Just need to confirm the decals that will be added. A ton of info will be known after this week.
11. That was my senior year. The Indian Spirit was Billy Morgan, a baseball player all the way up until his senior year. Pretty crazy guy that was known to scrap a little. Billy did get in trouble for crossing the middle of the field but he's the type of guy (well who isn't) that doesn't appreciate being tackled from behind. The Bear had to come and apologize to our school. So after all the years of rumors of the Bear "beating" up the Indians I shared the video on my facebook lol. Still waiting for the actual fight I've heard of so much from folks in Orange County.
12.
Did you get baytown sterling going back to the Dallas cowboy look?
They had the Cowboys look last year. Matte gray helmets.
13. Faircloth told me he changed the helmets, uniforms etc. because he didn't want anything back from last year lol. I picked PN-G to beat them last year and my picks are already into the newspapers for this week. I took PN-G. It's not a good matchup for the Tigers at this point of the year.
14.
I call it like I see it. Last week I was not impressed but this week I was very impressed. The offense was really good with both qbs. Both H-backs are really good. Gonna have to find another wideout. Defense is still a little suspect. Texas City was not close to being a top 10 team. Silsbee should be a better test.
I think TC is a better test than Silsbee. I picked the Tigers to go far but they have been very flat in both scrimmages. Line play is going to decide this one. I was in the office with McGallion when his was watching PN-G film for a bit. He pointed out in last years game that's where Silsbee had a major problem matching up with the Indians. He said that PN-G will surprise a lot of people this year and they will be better. This wasn't on camera coaches praise speech. Silsbee WILL be good but they're plugging a lot of holes and I'm wondering if it will be a few weeks until it's clicking.
15. Traditions at PN-G have never had anything to do with helmets. Faircloth is not a PN-G grad so he likes to keep things fresh. Same thing can be said about Sumlin at A&M. He changed the uniforms and the team runs onto the field now through smoke with music.....unheard of before. There are good fans and bad fans for every school unfortunately. Also these are PN-G's new game jerseys but last years pants.
16. Silsbee beating PN-G would snap an 11 game winning streak by the Tribe. They haven't lost to the Tigers since '94 I believe.
17. PN-G could very well beat Silsbee and WO-S. Summer Creek is likely an L. The Stangs, at least at the moment, don't look on the level of last year's team. Both Nederland and Vidor had nice leads in the scrimmages before late rallies. And for whatever reason the Tigers historically have bad results against the Tribe.
18. I remember when Bobby August changed the Nederland colors. Now I can't imagine the Dogs any other way.
19. Oh I guess he hasn't put it on the site yet. He emailed it to me.
20. Coach Neece sent me a message. 2 quarter live, Kirbyville 33 Huntington 0
21.
This may get ugly for PNG. I was not impressed at all last week. It is gonna be another rough season.
Was there the entire scrimmage. Not sure I agree. They look a lot better than last year. Not calling for a state title by any means but it's hard to say a team looks bad when it was 42-0. (2-0 controlled, 28-0 live)
22. Sent more info. He's put up PN-G (corrected with black trim), Jasper and Central. Noticed the Ozen update. One logo? That's weird.
23. Don't think Lamar will play South Dakota St. anytime soon considering the Cards didn't follow through with the return trip.
24. I wouldn't put PN-G's speed on the level of Summer Creek. Do the Indians look a lot better? Yes. Hard to tell against HF. The one thing I did like was they didn't play down to the level of the opponent. No offense to the Longhorns, I'm meaning size and numbers wise. They came out and got their work in while knocking around a team in another color jersey. HF for their lack of size, numbers and youth actually looked pretty good against a much larger opponent. The second unit had a solid drive on PN-G's second teamers that ended with an interception in the endzone. Here's a look at the highlights and post I got from the night. [Hidden Content]
