1.

Mcneal started the week after the OU game and Long never saw the field again. That was Slocums call. End of discussion! And the twin brothers (Colburn twins) were not there Longs senior season. They graduated the year before. Longs targets that senior year were Baxter, Norton, Price (a Jr) and Lumley. Point being he had a few offers, but no D1 until the SF game. I think everyone that reads this board new the message I was conveying when I pointed out the lack of recruiting for two HOFers and a future HOFer. Lots of excellent talent is under recruited each year, just as lots of talent is over recruited each year (see G. Gilbert)! So yes in that regards (being under recruited) I was comparing Brennan Doty to those HOFers. LOL at that.  ;D
Dang, I didn't think I saw him play as a junior (Long) but obviously I did and he was great that year. I wish I cared enough to win this debate and look it up. I might give Bob West a call. He probably can get those stat's and maybe give me his opinion on the better QB at PNG. Sorry, don't agree with the end of discussion. There was a coaching change. Slocum was reassigned to assist the President of the University and they hired Fran from Alabama. BTW, he had 7 TD passes against Texas Tech. [Hidden Content] He talked Long into staying and probably told him the QB position was open for competition. Isn't that a form of recruiting? So you are saying since Slocum benched Long he should stay the back-up under a different Head Coach? Are you serious? There are changes all over the field after a coaching change and a lot of times that includes the QB. Obviously, McNeal wasn't great at ATM and IMHO Long would have won more games. There is one thing still missing in you arguement. The players you mentioned may have been under recruited in college but they all had at least one school offerring a scholarship. Doty had zero! Now, if we keep this up it's going to sound like I didn't think Brennan was a good HS QB. I thought he was very good. Just not as good as Dustin Long. Aren't you the guy that kept arguing that PNG in 1988 was 1-9 in 4A and you kept saying that was their last year in 5A? LOL at that  ;)
And there's a lot more to the story from when Slocum was coaching Dustin (pressure from administration), to the Fran situation (a call from RC to Dustin in the offseason that helped make his choice to leave) etc. Dustin and I played baseball together and still remain friends.
2. Even after a slow start Lamar's RPI is 105 thanks to non-conference. UTA is currently 150.
3. Crosby was up on LC-M 2-0 in the 1st, anyone have a final?
4. No offense but after going to multiple BISD games there is no need for a new big arena in Beaumont. WB is usually empty (I do think they need a new gym), Ozen has plenty of empty seats and Central besides rivalry games with Ozen has plenty of seating. I love the feel of the high school gyms on packed nights and I think you lose that in an 8-10k arena on normal nights. The Montagne Center is a fantastic venue for playoff games but even during the YMBL it's an empty cave for the most part. As great as the crowd was at the H-J vs Silsbee game last week if it was played in an 8-10k arena it wouldn't have sold out. Yes there were people that couldn't get in but not those numbers.
5. Brenham 4 Nederland 1 F Didn't get their HF result Brenham (5-0-0) LC-M W (6-0) Lumberton W (4-1) PN-G W (1-0) H-F W Nederland W (4-1)
6. What was the Nederland final against Brenham? PN-G beat Hallsville (3-1), lost to Brenham (1-0) and I haven't got their result against Santa Fe today. Vidor was (1-0-2) Tied WB (2-2), Beat Channelview (2-0), tied Santa Fe (0-0)

9. I remember one of the first times walking through the tunnels of the Dome when I started at Ch. 12. I was 19, Craig Biggio came out of the locker room and a cat ran in front of us. Needless to say I was a little surprised. Then Biggio says don't worry about that, just look out for the rats they're even bigger lol.
10. There are zero excuses for students not to attend sorry.

12. Before playing Lyon Lamar's RPI was 39. That game sand bagged it to 55. It will drop in SLC play but still waaaaaaay ahead of the next SLC team UTSA at 162. At 55 Lamar is ahead of Virginia, BYU, Oral Roberts, Texas, Florida St, Pitt, Oklahoma St etc. Coach Knight has told me multiple times he wants Lamar to be the Gonzaga of the southwest.
13. Injuries and an unhealthy coach isn't helping. Even the closer losses were blowouts in the first half. Terrible shooting. Their defense is keeping them in games.

15. Here's what I ran on the Knights tonight. [Hidden Content]
16. I have video and sound from Steele coming up on 12 Sports HD. Coach spoke highly of Harrison and Armstrong compares Memorial to Judson.
17. Players on rivals mentioned from Steele QB: Tony Armstrong (3 star), 8th rated duel-threat QB in nation. Committed to Nebraska OL: Sean Benson, interests: (New Mexico, Oklahoma St, Rice, UTSA) DE: Eric Maus, interests: (Air Force, North Texas, SMU) CB: Evan Lyons, interests: (Houston, New Mexico, TCU, UTSA)
18. Just got off the phone with San Antoni. Trying to get some video and sound from Steele on tonight. QB Tommy Armstrong is Nebraska commit. The biggest stat that I notice is +20 in turnover ratio! PA can't afford to have turnovers this game.
