3. They didn't attach the full schedule but here are some of the non-conference highlights. HOME GAMES Rice, Gonzaga, Illinois, Washington, Portland, Arkansas State, Rice. ROAD GAMES Baylor (2), UC-Irvine, LSU, Louisiana Tech, Rice, Houston.
4. Lamar’s 2012 baseball schedule features games against Rice, LSU, Cal-Irvine, Baylor, Washington, Houston BEAUMONT – Lamar University will play a 55-game baseball schedule next spring highlighted by visits to Vincent-Beck Stadium by Rice University, Gonzaga, Illinois and the PAC-12 member University of Washington. The Cardinals will play perennially-tough Baylor twice in the Baylor Classic in Waco, and they will also tangle with national power LSU in Baton Rouge, La. Coach Jim Gilligan’s Cardinals will open their slate against Portland on Feb. 17, on the first day of the annual Lamar Classic, which will also feature former Southland Conference and American South Conference rival Arkansas State. On the next weekend (Feb. 24-26), the Cardinals have Gonzaga and Illinois coming to town for the annual YMBL/Cardinal Classic.  While still on the tournament trail, the Cardinals, who are coming off a 29-27 season, will meet Cal-Irvine and Baylor twice each in the Baylor Classic during the weekend of March 2-4. They will then follow that event with a March 7 game at former conference rival Louisiana Tech. “It’s a good schedule, especially early in the season,” said Jim Gilligan, who has accumulated 1,206 victories in his 35-season career as a college head coach (34 at Lamar). “We’re going to be playing some really good people at home and away. “Baylor has a great tournament lined up with us and Cal-Irvine coming in to play the Bears, who are always competitive. I feel like we’re going to be a talented team this season, but we’re going to be inexperienced early. “We’re going to have to do some growing up fast. The schedule is going to be a good test for us. It’s a little tougher than normal, but it’ll help us become a better team by the time conference play rolls around.” The Cardinals, who went 15-18 in the Southland Conference last season, will open their 33-game league schedule with a three-game series at the University of Central Arkansas, beginning on March 9. The Cards’ first home league action will be in a three-game series against UT Arlington, beginning March 16. Lamar’s annual home-and-home series with national power Rice has the Cardinals challenging the Owls in Houston’s Reckling Park on March 21 and the Owls paying a visit to Vincent-Beck Stadium on March 25. The Cardinals will play at Houston’s Cougar Field on April 10, but the Cougars will not come to Beaumont this season, as has been the recent custom. The Cardinals also have a non-conference home game against Washington on March 20. It will be the first meeting between the schools in baseball. The Cardinals, who own a 5-1 series advantage over LSU, will meet the Tigers for the first time since 1995 in an April 18 game in Baton Rouge. If the Cardinals can again finish in the top eight of the 12-team league, they will advance to San Marcos where Texas State will serve as host for the 2012 SLC Tournament on May 23-26. Last year’s Cardinals went 0-2 in the 2011 tournament, a year after sweeping their way to the tournament championship and an NCAA Regional berth in 2010.
5. Also be ready for a lot of water breaks and if a player goes down for any reason all players are sent to a knee right away. The flow of the game is much different than 11 man.
6. With all the new fire code laws, etc it will be tough to break the old records. They used to allow the parts of the track to be SRO but I haven't seen that in years.
7. They wore them after the death of Reggie Garrett last year. Probably trying to get more than one game out of them.
8. Thanks I was just texted the same thing.
9. Baytown Christian was leading Orange Community in the 2nd 20-2 when I left and they haven't called in their score.
10. When I left they were down 20-2 in the 2nd. Haven't got a score called in. Anyone hear anything?
11. Makes ZERO sense for a school Lamar's size to televise a home game. Make going to the game the ONLY option to watch the game. I understand out of towners liked it but economically it makes no sense.
12. Yeah I think the old guy was confused multiple times during football. Telling fans to get on their feet and make some noise when we had the ball. Bevil was trying to quiet the crowd multiple times at one point.
13.
Its the same people running the station. And NBC is the worst network by far and the ratings show it. Good call moving to Fox.
That's not exactly true. NBC was just #1 last week. NFL on NBC helps a lot. And their change to FOX did nothing to their news ratings.
14. Well after seeing Texas Christian it doesn't take much for a 6-man stadium. 80 yards of dirt (grass is a plus), two small sections of wooden bleachers and a small scoreboard with multiple lights out lol.

It's been like that for 5A schools. I just like it because after by live shot at 6:50 I don't have to wait around for kickoff! Also photogs can shoot better highlights.
I doubt it, nothing is ever done to help us out I promise. lol Is this the main reason for the change to help the media ??
I hope not.
16. Me too but I haven't seen it on there under all my sports listings and it's not on Baylor or SFA's website. Not listed on ESPN3 either.
17. Haven't hear any tv on this one. Baylor doesn't list it.

19. Pretty common, I'll be at the 1 pm press conference tomorrow for interviews. A lot of colleges close practice for one reason or another so I wouldn't read too much into it.
20. Confirmed 66-6, coach called in and it's like that on the Houston Chronicle
21. 66-6 to Ozen, haven't confirmed if that's final.
22. Last I got was 53-0 with 2:44 til halftime.
23. I said it from the end of last year through the preseason workouts, Memorial will make a deep run. They have it all. Are they as good as Katy....no. But they will go deep. I don't buy the no discipline label. They are very discipline. I've seen them in person multiple times. And this is coming from a PN-G grad.
24. USA is FBS school with FBS players. They haven't lost a game since starting the program. Big difference in talent level at some spots.
