1. Was peaking over from the softball park and stayed a little after the WB game. I really wasn't blown away by either one of these teams. Of course this was my only time to see either so it might not have been their best games.
 2. Not sure if he will apply at EC but if not I see him heading to Texas High as an assistant.
 3. 12 conference games left, still time to make the SLC tournament.
 4.
wow this is crazy with the pitchers, might have to change there off-season work out program.
Yeah let's just say this year's offseason program was much different than the past.

 7.
Oh, and they through USC at #17 because their 80,000 average fans can't fill a 95,000 seat bowl? The rest is pretty accurate, though
I have friends from PAC 10 schools and others that have worked games there. They all have told me USC is TERRIBLE. I've never been myself.
 8.
lol playing teams that are ranked 275 in the RPI is a RPI killer just plain and simple and playing teams with 175 and etc, played teams that are in the top 100 then gurantee ur RPI goes down 10-15 spots with the record they have right now!!! and if you are a big college baseball guy and know your stuff then you know mid-week games are overated its good to beat those teams but the committee knows that its a mid-week game, FSU won the series against Florida 3-1 this yr all in mid-week games if that was on the weekend its a totally different series win!!
I believe I have a little bit of knowledge when it comes to the NCAA process of selecting teams and also actually making a schedule (which is a lot harder than people think) I have covered multiple regionals in the past decade. Lamar's schedule is much tougher than last year. Going to the Mississippi State tournament was a good despite the poor results. And adding the game with Baylor was good as well since they've lost the traditional game with A&M. Those plus playing Rice twice and UH twice shows the effort being made to play quality teams. LU's record against top 100 teams is hurting them. But for them to make a regional they will need to win the SLC Tournament anyway.
 9. They've played 15 games against Top 100 teams but are only 7-8 against them including conference series losses to Texas State and SLU (Both top 50 RPI teams). That is actually what hurts when looking at bubble teams not 4 wins against North Dakota State. They've played Rice, UH, Baylor and Mississippi State in non-conference. That's pretty legit, LU is #64 in RPI this week with 5 wins against the top 50.

 13.

Well, given the candidates left, I'd go with Skelton first, then Knight, but I don't think Bubba is even on the shortlist.  While I don't like that Knight hasn't won, I also have to be honest--Lubbock has got to be about the most difficult place on the planet to recruit basketball players to.  It's a medium-sized town in the middle of absolutely nowhere; it's virtually all white, and football will always be king there.  It can't be easy to recruit talent there--especially when your opposition are the likes of Kansas and Texas. The Southland ain't the Big XII, that's for sure.  If Knight can run a program, I think he'd have a good chance of success here.  Of the rest of the guys, I don't think Sutton is actually in the running at all because of the legalities; Cyprien bothers me because of the whole resume thing at USL, and I'll admit I don't really know much at all about Monarch or Seltzer. Frankly, I'm glad that Evans was honest/loud-mouthed enough to make it clear he really didn't want to be here, and his heart is in Oklahoma.  I think he'd have been a fine coach--his resume was very impressive, but if he really doesn't want to be here, we're probably better off without him--he'd have left the first chance he had to upgrade, anyway. As far as excuses, UNLV, there are none.  This is still an awful conference, with three or four schools that shouldn't even be Division I.  Any good coach, given decent recruiting abilities, should be able to win given the advantages in facilities, funding, and fan base that LU has over most of the Southland.
Lubbock has got to be about the most difficult place on the planet to recruit basketball players to.  It's a medium-sized town in the middle of absolutely nowhere; it's virtually all white hmm..sounds like Kansas!
KU is only a little over 30 minutes from KC
 14. And Texas has lost games to Brown and Hawaii......
 15. With RPI numbers from today, what's left for LU 62. Southeastern Louisiana (3) 52. Houston (2) 48. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3) 97. Sam Houston State (3) 215. Texas-San Antonio (3) 151. Northwestern State (3) 140. McNeese State (3) 93. Texas-Arlington (3) 130. Stephen F. Austin (3)
 16. Clutch hitting has been down, but offensive numbers are down everywhere. SEC has hit 100 less HR's than last year, averaging nearly 2 runs less, etc. Still Lamar has an RPI of 86 now (better than traditional regional teams UC-Irvine, Nebraska, UL-Lafayette, Kansas State, etc..), owns 3 wins over Top 35 RPI teams and are tied for 3rd. Not exactly doomsday yet but overcoming the pitching injuries will be tough.
 17.
I heard that the Hamshire Fannett program had some good young kids  and was  a program on the rise.  We played them a couple of years ago and was impressed with how hard their kids played.  They NEVER quit  and just kept coming at you.   Of course...seems like every team we play from the golden triangle plays hard. Silsbee might be running out of talent and their coach feels like he can win more at HF.  Haven't talked with him  but i know that he works very hard and his teams are always prepared.
He is a friend of mine and a class act, wish him the best of luck.
 18. Capel was making 1.5 million at OU...........talk about a pay cut.
