  1. The Montagne is one of the only arenas I've seen that prevents the home fans to sit behind the visitors bench. That's the point of having homecourt advantage if you ask me. The entire SLC is like this in different ways. At the conference championship volleyball game between Texas State and Lamar security forced the Bobcat fans to move away from our bench, that's just crazy.
  2. They really aren't very good, too many guys not adjusting to D1 baseball fast enough. I'm just saying the midweek pitching has been awful. The freshman is legit.
  3. UTPA  7  Lamar  5 6th Cards are not a good mid-week team with the lack of solid pitching.
  4. Actually Chad this is the normal costs of uniforms. Most people don't realize how expensive they are.
  5. The Southeast Texas Men's Senior baseball league has changed their rules it's now 23 and up. Call Jeff Herrin for more info 729-1507.
  6. There is no winning with this guy. Sorry I've been around the program a long time and will tell you there hasn't been a consistant dominant force in the SLC besides Northwestern State for years and even then they choked in the tournament and got snubbed even with 40 win seasons. The season isn't over after two weekend series, man  I would've hated to have a teamate that would feel that way. This team was picked 3rd in conference before the season and I don't see why the panic button is being pushed. The facts are the bullpen is weak that was known before the season and it's being exposed now but it doesn't mean things can't be turned around. When Gilligan left for Salt Lake let's look at what happend to the program, now that was a disaster and it came back when G came back, leading them to a Sun Belt title.
  7. I think there are some teams in 4A that will make some deep runs but won't get respect from the state polls unless one of them run the table in the district.
  8. Sam Houston's coach is a huge name in the college baseball circles he was at A&M for years. Wow I'm gone to Vegas for a while and the panic button is being pushed and thoughts of Gilligan on a hot seat are being brought up WOW!
  9. Oh lord are we starting this again. G is a personal friend and doesn't care about his wins like I've said. They have played tournaments plenty of times and faced Long Beach St, Arizona St, Nebraska etc. Even played at Texas when they first stopped coming here.
  10. After lastnight 29. UTSA................(7-4).........30 40. SLU..................(12-1).......180 45. NWST...............(9-2).........137 47. LU....................(10-2).......150 54. 11. Of course that would be a great schedule but those teams refuse to come to Beaumont. If you don't have showers on site and a visiting lockeroom most big names won't agree to come anymore. A&M started refusing to play here and Texas before that. They prefer more home games.
  12. I look at both. Those were from warrennolan. But it updates throughout the day so it probably changed.
  13. Way too early for this to matter but here they are. (Note there are 296 teams) plus strengh of schedule BASEBALL 26. Lamar.........(9-2).......SOS 91 36. SE LA.........(11-1).....SOS 152 38. NW State....(9-2).......SOS 115 46. UTSA..........(7-4).......SOS 52 65. Texas St......(5-5).......SOS 35 85. McNeese St..(5-5).......SOS 62 158. Nicholls.......(6-3).......SOS 243 159. 14. I know PN-G lost to Ball 12-7, not sure who won the tournament.
  15. RPI is pointless at this point LOL, UTSA #2 HAHA. North Dakota State #23 while Rice is #146.
  16. Actually yes I have played the game and sos isn't decided until the end of the year. This year's sos is coming off of last year's stats. As far as voting for Barry Bonds honestly I don't know I would have to look at his career as a whole. Everyone was taking steroids and honestly I could care less. I don't listen to what people say about others. Barry is known as a jerk but he was very nice when I met him and interviewed him during the All-Star game. I enjoy talking this over with you I'm not taking any shots I like talking sports and you do know you're stuff. Scheduling is just weird man.
  17. Texas State and Sam also benefit from having new facilities that big school's are willing to travel to. Plus A&M is close to Sam. Texas State and UT are close. Texas State has used Round Rock to host a tournament as well that will draw big names in while Vincent-Beck just doesn't compare. Not the field itself but there are no visiting showers or lockerroom.
  18. Lamar will play UH twice and Rice twice. Dallas Baptist is a solid team that went to regionals and Maine is picked to win their conference. I also know baseball at all levels I covered your cousin in high school. But I have also been to multiple major league spring trainings for different teams and NCAA regionals, this summer I'm going to Omaha. What does that have to do with scheduling.....nothing. It comes down to finding the teams that are available and yes that are willing to come to Beaumont. Sam Houston has been a good SLC tournament team. Texas State has been consistant. But neither have done anything in a regional. Kind of weird that Lamar from 02, 03, 04 played nearly the same type of schedules and were competitive in the postseason losing in the Austin regional title in 03. Also you will find Houston Baptist, Prairie View and HBU on Sam's schedule TSU on SLU's PV and HBU on TXST Texas State has the toughest schedule but they are loaded just like last year.
  19. While I respect your knowledge of the game baseball25 you don't seem to know much about matching a schedule to your team. It's one of the toughest things to do. In football and basketball schedules are worked on years in advance. Baseball is different. The schedule is fine. 40 wins is still a magic number no matter the non-conference sos if LU is on top of the SLC in the regular season. G is building a team to win conference not an at-large bid.
