I would hate to be the one to tell the kids on my team that we had a chance to play at Reliant and turned them down.

When Jimmy Simmons became president Lamar had about 8,000 students, no football team, no women's soccer team, and no women's softball team. They also brought back the Marching Band and updated the Athletic facilities, to where they are among the best in the conference. Not to mention, a totally redone McDonald's Gym. They also had horrendous dorms. They now have Cardinal Village and the campus, it self looks 1000% better than it did when Dr. Simmons took over. This has led to Lamar have over 14,000 students. That's almost a 60% increase in enrollment. I would say that Lamar has changed, improved, and grown over the last 15 years, let alone 40. Again, I say you're full of it!

In 3A last year it wouldn't have made a difference. Nobody in D1 was beating Stephenville and nobody in D2 was beating Navasota. They were the two best teams in 3A by far last year. Silsbee will make a nice run in the playoffs but, I don't think they bring home the trophy. I think Newton has the best chance to bring home a championship. They made the semis last year and return a ton of starters. However, that doesn't mean that there isn't another team out there that might surprise people next year. There always seems to be a team that comes out of nowhere  and makes a deep run in the playoffs.

How's progress going on the Wolve's new stadium? Hopefully it will dome by the time we are supposed to play there (3rd game). Anybody have any pics of the progress? If anybody does please post them.

Is the AD position seperate from the football HC position? According to the Enterprise article they said the list for the AD job. I've heard they want a seperate AD from the football HC. Does anybody have info on this?

Turf is not included on the bond. That was voted down to be put on the bond in committee.

Stop playing Oklahoma Panhandle St. and Bacone College! If you still have to play those type schools to get wins, that ought to tell you were your program is. You don't need to stack it with it FBS schools but get rid of the D2 and D3 schools and play some good teams at the FCS level. A better home non-conference schedule and some WINS will add to better attendance. That and going back at a 6:00 start time for home games.

Game should've went to overtime in the first place. LU up by 5 with :23 left in regulation, fouls a three point shot that goes in and CAU gets a four point play. LU still could'nt hold on.

Y'all do realize that starting next year 4 teams will make the playoffs in 3A next year. I don't see any reason HJ can't complete for a playoff spot with 4 teams now going from each district.

How do you have Hardin at #5 four spots a head of Deweyville? Deweyville swept them last year. Howell pitched both games and Hardin had 2 hits total in those two games. He pitched a no-hitter the second game and he has shown to be better this year so far in practice. Deweyville has 7 starters back. And quite frankly, when Howell's on the mound they won't need to score a lot of runs, unless they committ a lot of errors. I don't see that experienced crew doing that. Somebody, earlier said that they would put Deweyville in the 6 spot and I would agree with that. I would have them 5 or 6, but I wouldn't put Hardin ahead of them.

Central has a new coach. They have a long way to go but you should see a lot of improvement this year from the Jags. Tough going though, playing in probably the toughest 4A district in the state. I'm rootin' for them, though.

You guys also must consider that just because Lamar recruits theses guys doesn't mean they will sign with Lamar. Other Southland schools also recruits this area. Also, I think Lamar is loaded with local talent. However, you will not win just with local talent. You do have to expand your recruiting base and sign a few JC players. I agree with staying away from FBS school rejects. There's a reason they're not playing at their previous schools. I just don't think Woodard is a very good recruiter.

PNG runs the score up on teams in other sports, that there good at. So, I have no sympathy for them. You still have to play basketball. If Ozen is a 1-3-1 team and that's what they do in practice, why should the 2nd teamers be put in to do something else. PNG girls need to work harder and get better. Sounds like they knew this was going to happen before the game started and they made it happen. And yes I know what it's like to get beat like that. I was on a Boy's Club team that got beat by 100. It was like "00 Ozen boy's team vs. a 1A jv team. We knew when we got off the bus it was probaly going to be that way and we let it happen. We went back there 2 years later and they beat us by 10. You have let something like that motivate you to get better.

East Benard looked pretty stout! Once they got to the LBs they were pretty much gone. They looked just as impressive on defense. EB and the winner of D1 game would be a real good game.

Sunds like there some jealous people on this thread. Tony is a able to go these camps and get noticed by these big schools. You have to get invited to these big camps. If you don't perform at those camps, you won't get offers. Also, I've seen his stats and no they are not impressive. However, I wonder how much of that is that the other teams stay away from his side of the field. I know that happened to Beasley and Thomas when they started to get interests from major schools. The big schools won't offer or sign without watching film on him. I wish him the best and also hope his dad makes a full and speedy recovery.
