This could be another scary game. What if Crosby has a “bad game”? They haven’t had one yet, and human nature could get them to relax after another game of the ages and homecoming, 2 big distractions. Dayton nothing to lose but EVERYTHING to prove. I have been in H S hallways for 33 years, y’all forgot how ruthless girls and non football boys are to the team who is sucking. Believe me, broncos are ready to explode , manhood is questioned every day in halls and who better to turn it around against than hwy 90 rivals Crosby (Americas team). Actually a loss at this time may be better for Crosby final goal rather than a win, think about it. Also, Dayton coming closer than anyone, me too, thought against da hill is a little bronco sugar cube. Some good games this Friday, Beaumont cup could be classic, png and vidor.

Could anyone in Southeast Texas beat Newton?
coach bear replied to EBrill12's topic in High School Football
I say Crosby, PAM, vidor, wb, and maybe Ned and png. North shore of course, beat cowboys and Texans combined pro team. Just such a difference in categories. The thing about Crosby is the confidence factor, like Halloween Jason, can’t kill em. They keep getting better week after week 21 was a new rb this week that won the game for them along with 2nd team q b. Lines is where they are improving and hard to gauge without old school cowboy in left hand and spiral. The factor that is big, only one more grass field, big cause Crosby offense AND a freshman kicker that is goofy but on turf can kick it over the posts from 55 out. Watch him in warm ups, that is an X factor. -
Tell you what I was most impressed with vidor #1 the FS who filled the alley and would stroke you. He also deep snapped and intercepted one and recovered a fumble. After the game I told him it’s been a long time since I’ve seen someone do everything and play free safety. He was emotional, as they all were, and said that he didn’t play last year and refuses to leave anything left on the field. I would take 11 of those on defense, small yes but I would blitz them through gaps eac play. He was impressive.

That is what makes this game and team so special. I always refer to that year 96,where we almost beat defending finalist (not champ, I believe Stephenville was) La Marque. Funny on that la marque team was an off tackle, superintendents son, Brian Randle, now the alief Taylor head coach, one of the top, if not THE top young coach in southeast Texas. We were finalist for the Baytown sterling job when Gareri got it ( great move again GCCISD ADMIN). He said I looked familiar and finally cane to the knowledge that I was that crazy def coordinator from Crosby head butting helmets, bleeding from the forehead while laughing with the ref crew, he said I scared all of la marque and that the Crosby Cougars were the better team that year. I know shoulda, woulda, BUT hear me out. Crosby hasn’t had a real chance to win state since 96 because they had leadership and skill. Hard to have all the variables to make that run. Last night showed me the ONE question about them moving forward. What would happen if the archer #7 had no arrows or became injured. No other superstars, now a 3 headed monster at RB, the only question was that most important, 2nd most important position BACK UP quarterback for any state championship team. Before last night all we had was a game winning supposed fade, that was more of a ball 4 , not a great justification of quarterbacks prowess. But it beat Manvel cause of unbelievable athleticism by archer turned wide receiver. Now Alice, we see his skillz, WOW. If his receivers would have just tried to catch his darts his stats would be nice. For a new qb to be put in that wasp nest, pirates lair, bunch of funky manure alfalfa field (for you 14.2 I still have your back since mid 90s) is storybook at the least. Crosby could get beat by Lee, Dayton, p n g, Santa Fe,Nederland or da hill with their great coach who is taking your weary poor but especially your future all Americans to the great housing implosion on da hill. But the lack of quit, find a way somehow, what’s the matter in the first half crawfish eatin sod planting, future TEA controlled Crosby boys are maturing into a team that COULD, I say could grace the Mecca of the blue star, better known as Jerry’s world, and all I’m saying is there’s , yes , there is a chance Jim Carrey. I love football as much as all of y’all but for the past 33 my paycheck depended on it, now I write and b s and still see EVERYTHING through coaches eyes ( until I come back in a year). Coach Davenport and I meet, talk, and solve—2 old coaches with free time—speaking of , that vidor guy in the shorts, who LED a team prayer with both teams intermingled together (take that liberal God Less society) Matthews is GOLD. when will finances and 6A school discoveries cause him to leave pirate central. Better keep tight reigns on him. Sorry rambling gotta get this article done for a nazi in okie colors. Great game and another chapter into a book that Could, I said could end in the biggest gift in Texas, dreamed of by men and boys from del rio to Texarkana, to elpaso to West Orange. Yes Alice, there is a chance—

caleb clay, great series
-
no it is 20-0 just kidding, i get it 14.2 good one. love the conjecture
-
Crosby defense is showing a lot now. Keeping the Cougars in the game.
-
The archer seems very gimpy on the sideline, right knee.
-
Coker for a lot of pressure doing well, ball goes to vidor. Rbs are trying to make every play outside instead of hitting the hole and going north and south.
-
vidor 13, crosby 0 again crosby must score to stay in game. #7 right knee is wobbly after hurdling a would be tackler , great return by Fagnana to vidor 32 coker great keep on zone read.

coogs showing character driving with old school running

eating mexican food in pressbox, not bad--

Very humid here in Vidor, but field is not too wet, but about 3 inches high. Going to be a good one.

Wow, this is a fun thread, getting all financial. Haven't been on all week, trying to raise $ for Crosby, no joke. Anyway i think this game is a test of Crosby character and coaching ability to play an outlier team with special powers. I have always thought Matthews (sp) does a fantastic job with his kids. They will be frothing at the mouth and playing to their ground game, time control, and physicality. IF the Coogs start off slow like they have the first 3 games, they are in trouble. Crosby is the better team, better teams have lost lot of games especially at opponents homes with weather conditions. Any extraneous variable plays to the underdog, Vidor. Hopefully they have learned about the slow start. Crosby by 7 or 3 with a 45 yard field goal by the 9th grade kicker. It is going to be a good one. I need some info--seriously--selling raffle tickets for $25 for 2 x $3000 hunts at Sindomar trophy ranch in Del Rio, second place Capt Arnold Galveston bay fish for 4 and 3rd momma gift certs over 1500 at Woodlands market square. Where will the hunters be pregame? A lunch destination?/ Plan on being there btw 12-1 thanks Lets enjoy a great game.

sorry, Da Hill by 21.

I have known a couple of coaches that recruited well, but mostly if you are winning and known as a winning coach, kids and parents will move to your district. That is how we got Steve McKinney, A M, Colts, Texans. He moved from Centerville to Clear Lake cause Kruger won a state championship in basketball, but Steve never played much basketball, just football. He was a player. Win and they will come. I think there are still athletes in Dayton--not a Jerry though. He was special. Kids go through a wall for him, coaches also.
