***UIL State Championship Game Thread***
gary-us-bonds replied to PhatMack19's topic in High School Football
They made it to the state title game with that offense unless I am missing the sarcasm? -
Not sure what they are feeding them boys over in Austin. They must have 15 starters that are 6'3" or taller. They look like a team of half Ed McCaffreys and half JJ Watts.

Liberty Hill vs. Crosby/ POST UPDATES HERE
gary-us-bonds replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
Looked at highlights on Hudl. That Crosby defense looked exhausted in just about every clip I saw. I don't think you can say holding them to 35 should be good enough. They needed to hold Texas High to what, 7 points? You have to hold them to whatever you need to hold them to and that Crosby defense was too exhausted to get the stop when they needed to. -
Crosby has the advantage that a lot of Dallas area teams usually have over Houston area teams. A one high achool district. Teams like DeSoto are always going to have the advantage over teams like Spring Westfield for instance. As soon as a Houston area team gets good, they split off and add another tram into that school district. Whether it's Cypress, Spring, Fort Bend, Manvel, Pearland, Katy. There is no continuity. Dallas area, due to different zoning laws, is surrounded by small towns. There are some exceptions, but typically those exceptions aren't winning state championships. The dynasties are Aledo, Argyle, DeSoto, Cedar Hill.... Crosby has that same advantage. CE King has it too and if left alone for a few decades will be a powerhouse. I bet they will be split up though into two high schools though if growth continues that way.

Denton Guyer (13-1) vs Tomball (11-3), 7 p.m. Saturday at Waco’s McLane Stadium Katy (14-0) vs Austin Westlake (14-0), 2 p.m. Saturday at Waco’s McLane Stadium Katy Paetow (13-1) vs Corpus Christi Flour Bluff (12-2), 7 p.m. Friday at San Antonio’s Heroes Stadium -
Wow. This is an extremely impressive accomplishment. Can't imagine anything similar has been accomplished before. If so, it must be pretty rare.
-
I don't understand if this is a schtick or what's going on so I will just say ok thanks for your input.
-
uh huh. Manvel, Hightower, Angleton and Paetow. Take your pick. or Madison, Galena Park and Sterling. FB Marshall being the obvious outlier.
-
Yeah I meant last year when Paetow beat the fool out of Lee in the playoffs. Would be nice to get a Galena Park or Houston Madison in the first round instead of Manvel.
-
Thanks for that link. I see now they opted up. What a shortsighted decision by the school district. Certainly robbed Lee of a playoff victory last year. I assume they opted up last time around as well.
-
Is Goose Creek insisting Lee stay with the other two or what? Likely could have a chance down in Division 2 to win a playoff game perhaps one year but not against the Paetow and Manvels of the world. I feel like that Div 1 to Div 2 might be the steepest drop of any drop in classification.

Oak Cliff - that's my hood - put it in they face - get this %&$@ understood SOC lost by what two TDs to Duncanville for their lone loss of the season. Hardly call this one much of an upset.
-
Barbers Hill by 17.
-
Crosby by 35 from what I saw in the Marshall highlights on Hudl.
-
Fort Bend Marshall 21 Barbers Hill 42/FINAL

Marshall struggled to an extent with Galena Park. Lee beat the fire out of Galena Park and Lee isn't that good. I'm just upset I didn't go with my gut and pick a bigger BH victory. Could see this coming. -

PNG by 35 -
Dayton would beat Galena Park by 35 minimum. Lee beat GP by nearly 50 points. I think Lee and Dayton are probably in the same ballpark.
-
Crosby 72 Houston Madison 36/FINAL
gary-us-bonds replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
None of the games would even be within 4 TDs. Dayton would best Galena Park by 50 if they wanted to and Galena Park is the second place team. -
Crosby 72 Houston Madison 36/FINAL

Makes me all the more certain Barbers Hill will best Marshall. -
reminds me of that north shore offense back in 1996. Spread everyone out. Run everyone deep. Let ced cormier scramble around and try to make it happen.
-
Barbers Hill 42 - Marshall 34
