Angleton (24) vs La Porte (21) - FINAL

Wow. LP coach is going to have a long off-season kicking himself for this one. -

Momentum completely changed now after that one mental lapse by the coaching staff. Angleton just has to toss up a hail Mary every play and they either catch it or get a pass interference call on LP. -

Wow. Disasterously bad coaching decision to go for it on 4th and goal from the 1 up 8. You absolutely have to go up two possessions there. Could cost LP the game. -
I told yall 2 years ago and was laughed at!

I looked back through MaxPreps and looks like Woodville has averaged 8 or 9 wins a year the last decade at least with several double digit win seasons sprinkled in. Why would anyone be so surprised if they put to together one of those years? Not like they have been averaging 2 or 3 wins for the last 10 years. -
This Willis game starting just like it did last year. Willis is faster. Not saying they are better, but they are definitely the faster team again.

28-14 Randle. Huge, 73 yard pass on 3rd and long for a td for Randle to push the lead back to 14.

Chris Anderson team the last to make it to quarterfinals for LP?

This part of a double header out at Berry?

Barbers Hill (28) vs La Porte (55) - FINAL
gary-us-bonds replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
It's all making sense now. I could never figure out why ef green opened their doors a few years ago and I read in the paper how they were rolling over everyone but it never translated over to high school. After a bit more research, I see that the kid scoring all those touchdowns that first year plays for Barbers Hill now. Maybe a different coach could recruit better or, like was mentioned with the new rule, maybe it would be more difficult for other schools. They will just drop down and transfer for 8th grade then. I don't think this will stop anything. -

I went to look up the one ef green kid I was really looking forward to seeing at GCM, even though I am a lee fan.... Playing on varsity as a freshman at CE King. He's probably a future state title winner in discus too. They need a coach that can convince those kids to stay at gcm -

According to Texas Tribune, Gccisd, Laporte and deer park are all rated B. Barbers Hill is an A. GC has a higher 4 year graduation rate than LP or DP. BH is far and away the best district on this side of town. GC has a much higher percentage economically disadvantaged at 71.7% with LP being next closest at 52%. Surprised that GC is performing so well considering. All of the players that would likely make a great football team are out by GCM and Sterling. If GCM had Lee's coach and dropped back down into 5A division 1, they would be able to compete very well against BH and LP. I don't know what their problem is with getting the athletes to gel into an actual team. Lee still beat them both this year and was sort of a down year by Lee's standards. Lot of injuries some kids moved out of district and they are paper thin as it is. -

Already permitted for 18 and up. Will be permitted across the board within five to ten years. -
We will see how they do against Brenham. I don't think Elgin is a great measuring stick. Elgin got their doors blown off by Montgomery. That game was 42-6 at the half. Elgin is not good. Randle is great. No doubt. They already worked over FB Marshall so I wouldn't think that would change if they met again. The common opponent is Texas City and Brenham rolled them just as easily if not easier than Randle did. Guess we will see next week.

If I'm reading the thread right, Ball had the ball down on 4th and goal at the 1 in a 3-3 game middle of the 4th quarter and decided to go for it? How absurd of a decision is that? Points are at a premium obviously in a 3-3 game after 3 and a half quarters. Why in the world would they do that? That likely cost them the game. The rest of the game would have played out differently with the pressure of being down 6 to 3.

Simon is too big, explosive and ill-intentioned for a team like Barbers Hill to do much with. Whoever is going to stop him will need to have roughly equivalent athletes all over on defense which will be tough to find...or a quick, well-coached, swarming defense to get three guys around him every play -
They landed in the sweet spot for realignment of a new school growing. Like George Ranch when they won State. Like Ridge Point when they put it on Crosby that year. For all intents and purposes, they have 6a division 1 numbers on their football team and get to play in 5a division 2.

Good for Worthing. They used to be a powerhouse 40 years ago with the likes of Mike Singletary and Otis Taylor among others. Good to see them have success even if they are about to get worked over by Chapel Hill.

La Porte (35) @ Angleton (28) - FINAL

Last, and only other, time I saw a freshman running back as talented as Simon was Leo Mills for Humble. You could easily lie and tell me that Simon is a senior and I wouldn't bat an eye. If he has any upward progression left in his development, he will be a monster in a few years. -

Oh don't I know it. Kendrick Perkins. Quentin Castille, Hosa Scott, Montrel Lowe, Curvin Richards(though he was from Baytown), Bubba Hill, Barrion Walker. This Freshman is different than the Perkins and Castille types though. He doesn't just bulldoze in there. He moves like a real running back. -

Man where is LP finding these running backs. They have an outstanding junior that barely gets the ball any and now this freshman is probably the top freshman running back in the state after watching his highlights. He's a monster -
