Manvel vs. Calallen /MANVEL WINS 31-28!!!!!

Manvel 42-13 -
Angleton might be a little too far south to get much. I can imagine that Dawson and Manvel might be getting some athletes zoned to Worthing, Madison, Westbury and Willowridge.
-
True. As the crow flies, might even be 8 miles.
-
Three teams in semifinals in a 15 mile radius of each other over here. Manvel, Dawson and Hightower. Lot of good football being played in these parts.

Olin plans to apply for Crosby job

I stand corrected about Ell then, I thought he was in Oakwood. Central Heights is still a stone's throw from Robert E Lee High School. I don't think Olin would have any problem letting the Walter kid play qb if he can throw the ball. Octavio Torres was probably 5'8" and he played qb for Lee there towards the end. QB's would be lining up to play at Crosby in my opinion. I'm not here to say whether Crosby should hire Olin or not. I just know that he is one of the best qb coaches in the state. Others have caught up with his offense at this point in my opinion. He can still light it up though I would imagine. Lee just did not have a qb his last couple of years. He would have done wonders with this year's squad. -
What is the UIL going to do about LaMarque

I never said that Ozen shouldn't be held responsible. Never said Ozen was not half to blame in this ordeal. Both sides need to accept blame and make sure the kids know that this is unacceptable. Neither side will do so. Both sides will say that their kids are good kids and it was the other kids that are the bad seeds. That's just the way it goes. But don't claim that LM doesn't have a history of bad sportsmnship, because we all know this is not the case. At least the Miami Hurricanes embrace the image. LM may as well. -

Exactly. He could go to Lee if he wanted. You used that example as if Olin was doing some under the table work. Brian Johnson may have come to Olin first in that deal as well. Who knows? Guys move into the Katy zone all the time. Johnson was a qb, and it worked out very well for him to claim an address in the Lee zone. And he was the only one that had to claim an address to get to Lee. -
How do they look?

Do you really think he would live there knowing he had to do something illegal to get Drew to Lee? Your sour grapes stuff gets old. Brian Johnson was the only qb that was recruited in. Ell stayed right on the other side of the tracks from Lee High School in Oak Addition. -
Him scoring 24 was a misprint or him having a torn ACL?

The response by LM fans in this thread is the exact reason that this stuff goes on. Always making excuses. Always claiming that what happened didn't really happened. Always in denial. Always blaming someone else. Everybody in Texas knows, LM fans know...LM is always getting into this sort of thing. They won't fix it until someone actually wakes up and admits that they have a problem on their hands and quit playing ignorant about it. -
Thought he had a torn ACL. Now I see where he scored 24 points in the last game,\. What gives?

Olin is one of the top 3 or 4 qb coaches in the state. Jermaine Alfred was a backup offensive lineman when Olin got to Lee. He turned him into an All-State qb and got him a scholarship to Baylor. Stoerner was always a good qb. Always zoned to go to Lee. Ell Roberson went to Horace Mann. I watched him 5 or 6 times in his 7th grade and 8th grade years. They had a good running back named O'Neill Chambers that went to Sterling. Roberson was always zoned to go to Lee. Tate lived with Olin. They lived in La Reforma which was zoned to Lee at the time. Do you honestly think he would live somewhere where his own son could not play on the team that he coached lol... Brian Johnson was a recruit from Crosby, no denying that one. He was a horrible quarterback when he got here though. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn his junior year. Mostly played receiver and some linebacker while Drew Tate finished up his senior year. Johnson came on strong his senior year and got a scholarship to Utah where he helped dismantle Alabama in the Sugar Bowl a few years back. Jeremy Moses was zoned to Lee. Went to Lee, was very good, in line to get a D1 scholarship until he broke his leg his senior year. Went to Stephen F Austin, set all kinds of records for them. Josh Jones was zoned to Lee. Ended up going to play for Army. The only one that was had any sort of smoke around it was Brian Johnson. If you want to say Olin found some receivers or other positions out in other zones, then maybe so.... By and large he made the qb's what they were with his superior coaching and offensive scheme, not by recruiting. -
Ozen/LaMarque Brawl...
gary-us-bonds replied to PearOrchardPanther74's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have no reason to make stuff up. I like LaMarque and root for them every year. I don't have any affinity for Ozen at all. LM has kids getting suspended all the time, kicked off the team, coming back, suspended again. Getting into it with coaches. They have a lot of kids from Galveston that play for LM too, and Ball is always the same way. Always felt like I was going to need a police escort to get out of those games safely. Thy are just a little rougher around the edges than a lot of teams. Quit being so defensive about it, and just let it be what it is. Your credibility is waning the more you try and act oblivious to it. -

Seriously guys... This is like asking for proof that Rodman was a hothead on the court. Why are we going through these shenanigans? Everyone who has ever played LaMarque can attest to the fact that they are a late hit here or there away from being in a shoving match or an altercation. No one is trying to condemn the whole city over it, but trying to deny that there is a little bit rougher edge about LM than some other schools is a bit disingenuous. -

The LM fans that are trying to claim they don't have a history of this are being dishonest. Everyone knows that LM has a group of kids that are more likely than a lot of teams to get into fights. A different coach will not help that. The players are a product of their upbringing. Heck, Baytown Lee has some of that same stuff and I'm a Lee fan. So does Galveston Ball. Some teams just have a higher propensity for getting into a brawl. LM is one of those teams. It's like a Miami Hurricane fan claiming to be ignorant when someone claims that the Hurricanes have a history of dirty play. It's not an indictment of the whole town or community. It just is what it is. -

I'm a little south of Houston, and it has been raining pretty much all day. Some times harder than others. -

Park at San Jacinto Junior College and walk over. I think there is even a walking bridge across right behind the stadium from the San Jac parking lot to the NS parking lot.. -
VIDOR VS. ANGLETON/Angleton advances 55-30!!
gary-us-bonds replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I had a feeling about Angleton from seeing them scrimmage Lee. Didn't look like your typical Angleton squad. They have speed out the wazzoo and a better offensive system than last year.
