Man I got WB's score on the nose. Didn't give PAM enough credit though. Sounds like this was a good game. -

Newcost is a running back and won't get much except for shovel passes and a few screens. King is ok, you're average high school receiver. Where WB will need to be careful is with Valcin. He's by FAR their best receiver. I will go so far as to say they better just double cover him on most downs. He will eat WB alive if they single cover him. Davon Lewis is VERY slippery. He's the best running quarterback I've seen this year and it's not even close. He's much more slippery than Brandon Williams or Joe Chaisson. He's not as fast probably as Williams, but he's much more difficult to get a handle on in the open field. PAM is very undisciplined and this is what hurts them in most games. Too many penalties. Too many turnovers. They ha d apenalty that led to a Lee td, but they only turned it over once. They played their most mistake free ball of the year and won. I don't think they can do that twice in a row. I predict about 5 turnovers in this one by PAM. I don't think either team will punt more than once or twice though. -

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to goto PA for the freshman games. I took a look at the JV though. PAM 28 - LEE 28 Lee ties it up with 19 seconds left and couldn't connect on the 2 point conversion for the win. -
ok thanks

Anyone know where the Titans play their undersquad games? I was thinking of driving in from Baytown to watch the 9th grade A game. How's the weather over there right now in the Golden Triangle anyways?

Baytown Lee At Memorial Predictions
gary-us-bonds replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Well......word going around is.... I dont think you will see Jeremy Moses back this week. You might not see Kevin Craft this week either. He hurt an ankle in last week's game. He's Lee's leading receiver. Okayl Maxwell is a lot better replacement than Lee would have in most years though. -
Baytown Lee At Memorial Predictions

Let's not start counting any chickens yet. Every game will be a struggle for Lee until Jeremy Moses gets back. Racinjason can attest to the fact that Lee can't exactly throw the ball around the joint with the backup qb. They are forced to run, which they are much better at this year, but still not that great. They are forced to throw 2 or 3 specific types of passes that can be defensed with good speed in the secondary. It will be no walk in the park. If Moses is back, I think Lee can put up 35-40 on anyone in the district. I'm not so sure how well Lee can stop PAM either. Kingwood never stopped them. PAM just turned the ball over. Would be Lee's luck that PAM plays a flawless game. -

Can't be fumbling around like that PAM. Gotta take advantage of the fact that Kingwood's defense stinks. -

Newcost took one in. It was mainly passing and some scrambling to get down the field. Is anyone else listening to tsrn? This color analyst has only spoken twice through the first quarter lol I cringe when he starts to speak. The play by play guy is good enough, just let him do it. -

I just don't think PAM is disciplined enough to win this one. I'll take Kingwood 34-20 -

West Brook 40 Baytown Lee 28 Final/Comments
gary-us-bonds replied to lonestar's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Yall need to get a better score updater lol It was 27-7 WB at the half. WB had HUGE plays throughout the first half. Three plays of 60 yards or more I believe. First drive of the third quarter, Lee threw an int and WB returned it to the Lee 5 yard line. They were about to go up34-7, but WB fumbled and Lee took it back for a td. From that point on, It was pretty nip and tuck. Lee didn't pass the ball much. At one point in the first half, Lee put in a wide receiver and just ran the ball on some option. The entire second half, Lee just ran the ball up the gut 95% of the time. Somehow it actually worked. Don't ask me how. Lee closed the deficit to 33-28 with 7 or 8 minutes to go. WB came back and converted on about a 3rd and 17. Then they converted 4th and goal from the 1 yard line with Billy Chavis providing the Reggie Bush push to get Chaisson over the goalline. WB stopped Lee on downs, then inexplicably with 1:30 to go and Lee having one timeout, WB was running the ball. They fumbled and Lee got it back, but they had to throw at that point, which isn't one of our strong suits with Moses out. That would have been the bonehead mistake of the millenium if Lee got back and won the game after that fumble. No reason to risk it up 40-28 at the time. WB has some good running backs. All 3 of them are good. The quarterback is pretty solid and makes good throws. Chavis is probably the best collegiate prospect they have. I was impressed with their team. They should do well in the playoffs if they can limit the mistakes. Lee will be very tough once Moses gets back. They were running at will in the second half without any threat of a passing game. Here's hoping he's back for the PAM game or I think we could be in trouble. -

I give BH credit for even trying to take on an Aldine, mannn Aldine aint what they used to be, but still tough for a very small 4A team, barely removed fromn being 3A, to go play the Aldine 10th graders -

Interesting UIL Overtime Rule
gary-us-bonds replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
What if a district did the point spread for baseball. Let's say you goto extra innings tied, bottom of the 10th, one out, bases loaded, you get a walk to drive in the winning run... But wait...you want your other two outs still so you can tack on more runs to help you in your tiebreaker later on... That's what this football rule seems like to me. Just like in baseball in extra innings, once you score in overtime and the other team didn't score, game's over man. Shouldn't be any opportunity to add more points when the game is over. I don't know which scenario is more absurd, a team continuing to bat in the bottom of the 10th when they are already leading the game, or a team going for 2 in overtime when the game is already over. -
West Brook at Baytown Lee Predictions

Looks like no Jeremy Moses for Lee :-( I just wonder how much longer Coach Olin can keep up the smoke and mirrors with the backup before people start shutting Lee down. It seemed to be starting to happen in the Sterling game when Lee threw 2 int's and limited passing yards. [Hidden Content] -

Ok, nice breakdown shorttexas1... I knew Williams was tough. He's so big and pretty mobile. He's not the best passer, but he can get it out there if the guy is open. He is just a tough guy to deal with on the high school level, you're right. I've never seen Chaisson play, so I'm pretty excited about seeing what he's about this week. I just hate facing those really fast qb's. You think you have them stopped on 3rd and 9 and no receivers open and pressure closing in, then bam he breaks a tackle and squirms out for 12 yards then ducks out of bounds. Williams did that constantly against Lee. -
Baytown Lee's jv is pretty decent I think. They are 3-2 the best I can remember. Lee rarely has anyone on JV though that will ever do much on varsity. Any good underclassmen are already on varsity. The freshman team is the place to look for Lee's future. Lee's freshman A is 4-1, and they have quite a few good athletes that should be contributors, some as early as next year.

Thanks for the feedback. Lee had a lot of trouble with Williams, but we did pretty well against Jason Tanner from Sterling. Tanner is pretty quick, but can't pass too well and is obviously not in the class of Williams or Chaisson. -

Which one is the more likely to beat you with his legs? I've seen how tough Williams is to deal with when he's running the ball. Would someone that has seen them both say Chaisson is just as tough? -

Well, I've seen Williams from Central, just wanted to know how he compares to the guy from WB.
