1. Bottom line here is Evadale can win this game. Coach Slack invited me in to give the pre-game speech last year when HD played Mart and one of the things I emphasized is not being intimidated at all, and hitting them in the mouth from the opening whistle. They boys from Mart know how to win playoff games and they expect to win. That's a mindset that comes with tradition and attitude that is developed over years of experience and success. To the Rebel players, just remember, they put their cleats on one foot at a time just like you guys, they're just regular old kids from the country just like you guys are. Don't hesitate or do anything different than you've done all season long, just be even more hyped up and relentless than you were when you played HD and Colmesneil this year. Althleticism and mistakes will play a factor in the final score, but if you make a mistake, make it going 100mph and play with reckeless abandon. Mart got the better of HD last year, but not many people know the whole story, they just saw the final score. At the end of the first quarter, Mart had ran 4 plays for a total of 3 yards. They scored on a punt return, then on a short field after we fumbled the insuing kickoff. After we put together another long drive, on 3rd and 12 they completed a long pass down to the one and punched it in. We turned the ball over on downs just before halftime, and they scored on a fake field goal with :13 seconds left til halftime. The second half, just like the first quarter was a stalemate. In the end, they made enough plays and capitilized on HD's mistakes to win the game, and took that momentum on to a state championship game appearance. I personally don't think this year's Mart team is as good as last season, and that Evadale can beat them, if they play mistake free football. Good luck Rebels and as other's have said, make district 23-A proud. Whether we want to admit it or not, most of the folks down in Hull-Daisetta are pulling for you guys!! P.S. On another note, Coach Nail and his coaching staff, players, and the fans of Mart were nothing but class last year. Very respectful group of folks. I saw Mart back in the Cosby boy's days in 2A and against EC and they were a little less than perfect class. I think that is gone and you will see nothing but class from Mart this Friday.
2.

I want to let the Seniors on the team know how awesome it was to watch yall play ball and mature into young men. This season was very tough and the team has went through many hardships. But no matter what, yall will never forget playing under the Friday night lights and being a Bobcat. The older you get the more you will want to play again. So you Seniors go out there Thursday night in Conroe and play your hearts out, leave it all on the field and give it all you got. Embrace the cool playoff air and live in the moment. Observe the crowd and the Stadium and the brother hood you have built with your teammates. Lay it all on the line. I believe we can win this game. We still have the blood line of the legendary Monsters of the Big Thicket that won 43 straight games, we still have the tradition and the pride the four horseman and the 1979 State Champs built for us. Seniors it's time, time to play your hearts out. Reality says only the winner advances in the playoffs, but the person who gives it his all and has no regrets will always advance in life. Go Bobcats !!! Seniors are Jo Jo Walker, Jakarie Samuel, Jacolby Humphrey, Tim Taylor, Dominic Kudro, Tully Melonson, James Mangum, Brian Dempsey, Pat Roth, Colby Henry, Dustin Morrow, Seth Traywith, and Andy Tanner.
Good post 55
I agree. Leave it all on the field and may the best team win.
3.
That's a great article....I enjoyed reading it....thanks....
I think this is pretty awesome myself. The boys are gonna have to read this, great locker room material. Shows the pride and tradition of being a Hull-Daisetta Bobcat and where it all started. To go along with this, I think it's a great motivator for the Cats playing 11-0 Lovelady. It's 70 years ago to the week that the 43-0 Bobcats were beaten by a team that believed they could win when nobody else thought they could. Also, 30 years ago to the week the Bobcats started their playoff push that saw the Cats march through 6 teams (4 of which were undefeated and HD was an under-dog in each of those games) on the way to a state championship! Let's go Bobcats!!!!
4.
Check out this awesome link. H-D tradition baby !!! This is were it started. [Hidden Content]
No Doubt, that is a timeless piece and a great post 55!!!
5. [Hidden Content] HD55 Posted this on the playoff thread, but I think everyone should read this, it's a good read for sure. ;D
6. You know I gotta take up for Checkmate a lil on this one. I re-read what he posted, and honestly it wasn't that bad. In all reality, there's a lot of truth to what he says and it's just his opinion. I dont' know if we have the weakest 1A district in the state, but from top to bottom, we're not that strong. Bottom line is, until one or two of our teams start winning a playoff game or two, we will be labeled with that reputation around the state. Just like the folks from Newton and Kirbyville always look past the Anahauc/EC/Buna folks and prepare to take on the Arp's and Dangerfield's of Region III 2A fame. When a couple of those teams go a couple rounds deep in the playoffs for a couple years, that will no longer be the case. I'm from HD, and we were a consistant playoff team through-out the 80's and 90's. Problem was that we always ran into Alto, Groveton, Mart, Garrison or Grapeland in the playoffs in the first round, and that was it for us. We dropped down to 1A and low and behold, look who all followed us down to the 1A ranks. Hull-Daisetta, Evadale, Colmesneil, and the rest of 23A have to stepup and win some playoff games, and we all have the opportunity in a few days. I wasn't blown away with Mart last year when HD played them, and I felt like Groveton was tougher the previous two playoff years. With that being said, the Panthers rolled all the way to the State Championship game. Mart is just like any other team and Evadale does have a chance of winning, no doubt. They are not indestructable by any means. The Bobcats have to face a 11-0 wrecking ball in Lovelady and odds are it won't be pretty, but ya know what, that's why they play the games. I personally feel like Colmesneil has the best chance of winning in the 2nd round. With the teams in Div I this year, they have a shot of going all the way honestly. If they win 2 games, their in the state semifinals, 3 wins gets them in the state championship game, and 4 wins = State Title. Good luck to all three teams in 23A and I hope you all play your hearts out and leave it all on the field. The better team will win, and everyone will live to fight another day. My honest prediction: Evadale - 19 Mart - 37
7. Is that the new Panther Stadium in Bullard? If so, that's a super nice place to play, other than not having a full-size scoreboard. Good luck to the Bulldogs. Honestly, all the beasts of Region III are in Div II, so its wide open for you guys to make a deep run. Make 23-A proud Dawgs!!
8. Also Lovelady is up 24-14 over Italy at the half.
9. * 7 carries for Kennedy
10. Cayuga is puttin it on the Bearcats. Cayuga - 42 Beckville- 7. @ the half Traylon Shead - 11 carries for 128yds and 2 TDs Malcolme Kennedy - Z carries for 149yds and 1TD
11. I don't think he's a 4.3 40 guy either, but in pads, this kid can fly. I've been following him for 3 years, and the dude is legit. Ya know the fastest combine time for a RB last year was a 4.45, and he has more yards rushing in high school than that guy, and Adrian Peterson, and Chris Johnson, and Jammal Charles and all the fast backs in the NFL. If Petersen would have grew up 25 miles south of Palestine in Grapeland, and rushed for 8 or 9K yards, everyone wolda been doggin on him for being at a 1A school and not playing competition. Talent is talent, and this kid has it. He's playing at 1A, but all the 4A and 5A peeps need to understand something. The main difference between a starting 4A team and a starting 1A team is depth. There's usually 3 or 4 kids on 1A and 2A teams that could start at most 4A and 5A's somewhere, there's just usually 5 or 6 kids on the field that are more like 5A JV talent. The teams Shead plays against have legit athleticism despite the classification. Maud had 3 defensive lineman sign with TCU and he ran all over them last year in the playoffs. Alto, Grapeland, Teneha and Carlisle always have some pretty sick athletes as well. As someone pointed out earlier, Colt McCoy's last high school game, he was held to like 140yds passing and 7 points, and that was against 2A talent, and now he's a heisman trophy candidate. Shead will play at the next level and I think he will excel. When this kid was a freshman he rushed for nearly 2000 yards, and he was 14 years old. He's a special talent who just happens to live inside the boundries of a 1A class school. We will never know how many yards he would have had at Katy, Austin-Westlake or Permian, cause he didnt' go there. It's kinda like a TCU or Boise State, they just play who's in front of them and dominate. We don't really know what they'd do in the SEC or Big 12, but they'd probably be pretty damn successful. OK, i'm off my soapbox. HD55, nice post and link gettin this kid's name out. Hopefully he will make us 1A and 2A folks around the state proud at the next level.
12.
Ole Downs got this Partain. I told you the score. LOL !!!
Oh I know, i just didn't know why you hadn't posted it yet. Come on Diesel, tighten up!!
13. What a finale for the undefeated district championship. Wish the Bobcats would have a part in this, but we'll have to settle for the third playoff spot this year. Good luck to both these teams in the playoffs and may the best team win in these final few minutes.
14. Hull-Daisetta - 34 Burkeville      - 6
15. I gotta give my vote to PNG's new head coach or the coach at Colmesneil. The Bulldogs are 6-0 in district and playing tonight for their first district title since the 1960's. They also beat Hull-Daisetta for the first time in school history this year. Playoffs already locked up, and with their big school draw, they avoid Mart and Lovelady and have a chance at beating Reisel in the opening round of the playoffs. A playoff victory or even keeping it close has to lockup the award for the Colmesneil coach. Great job turning that program around and making the playoffs.
16.
This one could get ugly real quick like the EC vs. Hardin game did 4 years ago.
28-0 less than 10min into the game already is ugly! Hopefully they will rest all starters they can the entire 2nd half. The Bucs have been really impressive this year. I thought Anahauc would beat them, but I was wrong. Good luck to them in the playoffs.
17.
What up Broom?
Sup Egg, we lookin good tonight? Evadale is up on Colmesneil 14-0.
18. Let's go Bobcats!! Keep it up and don't let off the throttle. We should put up 40+ points tonight
19. Final Score Hull-Daisetta 27 Chester 6

21. * Evadale - 14 H-D. - 7 Final Score
