  12. Well its gameday, and I guess I need to say a lil something. Evadale is big, strong, and diciplined. HD is quick, fast, and plays with wreckless abandon. Which of those two styles win out? Injuries have impacted both teams, but only 11 on the field at a time. This is gut-check time for Evadale. They are the defending champs, and have played like it up til this point. I like to think of this game as a heavyweight title fight. A rematch of the young new champ vs. the cagy old veteran who's lost some fights, but has some new tricks up his sleeve. Heart will win this game, I promise u that. HD always has found a way to make this big rivalry or key games close. Whether we're expected to win big and we play down to the opponents level or vice versa when we step up and make a game we should lose close or an upset. Bottom line is the pads on the field will do the talking tonight. Like the old sayin says, "That's why they play the game" Stats, predictions, and past records don't mean jack squat for those three hours on friday night. Good luck to both teams, and may the best team win. Go Bobcats!
  13. Man, people are quick to call others idiots and bad names on here for stating their opinion or asking questions. I was at the game and saw a good hard fought defensive football game that could have went either way. HD is having a very hard time getting their offense going, especially the offensive line. Kountze' defensive line dominated the LOS the first three quarters of the game and that was a big part of the outcome. Kountze has three kids that are very good athletes and they all made some solid plays. HD played tough but made alot of mistakes over and over again, but hey that's all part of the game. Kountze wasn't great, but they weren't horrible either. Brey is a game changer and made a few key plays although he was kept in check for most of the night. Their running back #7 is a very good player and when Howard came in fresh, he pounded the tired Bobcat defense. Good effort by both teams and like I said before, it could have went either way. As far as the comment about the HD JV players who should be moved up, that's not much of a stretch. There's four of five JV kids who just in my opinion could be starters on friday nights right now. Why they aren't moved up, I do not know. Maturity level, attitude, on field smarts/playbook issues all could be a reason. Another reason could be is to let these kids play every down on JV to get all their reps in instead of throwing them in there against bigger schools like Hardin and Kountze and a team the calibur of Teneha. It doesn't matter if we are 0-3 or 3-0 going into district. It affects the team making the playoffs in no way what you do in pre-district other than confidence and being battle tested. I don't know the reason behind it, but I'm sure the coaches do have reasons behind it. On the flip side of that, I've seen every game that JV team has played, and those kids dominate and could contribute immediately on the varsity squad. They are undefeated and look extremely impressive. Congrats to Kountze on the win and good luck to the Bobcats agains High Island and the rest of district. I think HD will be fine in district play and will suprise Evadale on how a tough a game it will be.
  14. Man, I haven't looked at this thread in a long time and its gotten a little rediculous. If u haven't seen villamez play, then don't hate on him. I played around several D-1 guys in high school and in college and Mitch is that good. IMO he's head and shoulders better on the field than Copleand was. He plays with a pile more heart than Shelton did at HD. And for the guy that says he wouldn't start at Dayton, lay off the crack pipe. I knew the late Derrick Briggs from dayton very well and he ended up playing DB at Texas Tech and this kid is just as good as Derrick was, just playing at a small school. I've watched every small school prospect in the area over the last 15 years including reggie white and tony bua, tremaine thomas and anthony chambers, terrance o'bryant, traylon shead, daniel marsh and everyone else mentoined and he's on that level. I don't like Hardin, never have and never will because I'm from HD and grew up loving to hate them. With that being said, Villamez is really good and can play strong safety or OLB at the next level. Come watch him play when he's healthy and then base ur arguments off that. I don't know if he'll get a big school offer, but he can play on that level.
  15. Coming into this season, I expected HD to be at 1-2 at this point. I figured we'd either beat Hardin playing above our heads in a rivalry game, or go to Kountze and bring down the Lions. Well neither of those happened and HD is 0-3. Hardin and Teneha are very good teams, although HD losing to Kountze shows a lot. Kountze wasn't overly impressive, including Brey, but they did enough to win and that's what counts. This game will come down to how the Bobcats rebound from a 3 point overtime loss. If they use it positively as motivation, it will be a long night for the Cards. If they get down because they lost a game they expected to win and don't practice hard all week, the Cards will have a shot. The way I see it, the Cats roll in this, but not in the 51-0 way they usually dominate HI. Bobcats : 38 Cardinals: 13
  16. 24yd field goal is good. Kountze wins 10-7 in overtime.
  17. 4th and 2 Lions on the 6yd line. Looks like another FG attempt upcoming.
  18. Kountze holds HD on first possesion of OT. Lions take over for their turn
  19. Field goal attempt by Kountze as time expires No Good. Going into overtime 7-7.
  20. I think the Bobcats will come out on top in this cat-fight. I was worried about Hardin and Teneha, and they are who I thought they were; big fast athletic playoff calibur teams. I don't feel the same about Kountze. They always have speed, but HD does too. Brey will help Kountze, and he's a heck of an athlete, but I don't think it'll be enough. I don't think it's too much of a stretch saying Gilmore could be the top player in the district, if u haven't seen him play, he's pretty damn good. My prediction: Bobcats: 28 Lions. : 18
  21. Villamez would start on defense for any 4A or 5A team in the area, and be used in some way on offense as well. I don't have a clue about the kid from Evadale. I'm from HD, so I'm in no way biased on my opinion.
  22. Tenaha rolls in this one. Tons of speed and the Bobcats just couldn't keep up. After leading 15-0 at halftime, the Tigers closed out the Bobcats 36-7. Another Bobcat two way starter was lost in the second quarter, but hopefully not too serious. The Bobcats have a bye week before facing Kountze in two weeks. With the injuries we have this year, we need the rest. Tenaha is good, not as good as the score indicated, but they were better than HD. They run the spread and have a very balanced attack and rolled off chunks of yardage both on the ground and through the air. Tough loss for the Cats' as we go 0-2 against two pretty tough oppenents, Hardin and Tenaha.
  23. Bushpilot, we got smoked 48-17, so we gotta brag about holding Mitch to 61 yards lol. 10 years from now when this game gets brought up we'll be talkin bout slowin down MV and not mention the score and that Taylor threw for like 1,000 yards on us!! Lmao. You have to take something good out of every game, and our boys showed that they arent' affraid to go 48 minutes with a big, strong, fast team like the Hornets and not back down. Its all good, yall got us and it was a well deserved victory and there's always next year. We hate to lose to Hardin any time, but if u gotta pick one, this probably would been the one. The tribute to Mr.Pate was awesome and those kids played their hearts out for their fallen teammate. I hope the Hornets go undefeated the rest of the season and over in HD we'll be sayin we had the 2A state champs on the ropes for a few minutes in the 3rd quarter!! ;D Good luck to both the Bobcats and Hornets for the rest of the year. PS - very classy response 0422
  24. Thanks for the kind words Rebel Yeller. Tim is probably the most fierce competitor on the team and this will be tough for him to deal with. Hopefully the rest of the Cats' will rally around this injury and use it as motivation to play even harder each and every snap. Congrats on the win to the Rebels as well. Lookin forward to meeting up with you guys down the road.
