  1. Corey Broussard from Hull-Daisetta had probably the biggest hit I've ever seen (at least live). CB was a basketball player that we finally talked into playing football his senior year. He was an athlete, but never really even hit anyone in practice, so he was NOT known as a big hitter at all. Playing Splendora they run a weak side veer option and the give goes to the fullback. Out of nowhere CB crushes this guy and the first thing that hits the ground is the back of the guy's helmet about 4 yards from impact. The crowd goes nuts and amazingly the guy gets up relitvely quick. He takes three steps towards his sidelines and goes back down. Looks like he's just woozy, but it was much worse. Ambulance comes out, then we find out Life Flight is on the way. Game is postponed for what seemed like forever until he's loaded on the ambulance and then onto the Life Flight Chopper which landed next to Bobcat Stadium on our practice field. They said the impact of the hit made his heart skip a beat and get out of rythym. He wasn't breathing correctly and they were afraid he may have had head trauma as well. It was not a pretty site. Kid ended up being ok after they got him to Houston, but Corey took it pretty rough and it really rattled him psychologically. He didnt' hit anyone the rest of the season. Almost to unbelievable to explain as it looked like the guy was running full speed, then was hit by a truck and immediately went flying the other way. :o
  2. I was always glad he was on my team too. ;D Goin against him in practice was hard work, but havin the big man block for me was awesome! For those of you who just know the smack talkin, high energy, hit you in your mouth HD55 from this site....he was the same way on the field. All intensity, all the time. Dude doesnt' have an off button. BTW, Where's Mart?? Let's play 'em tonight!! LET'S GO BOBCATS!!!
  3. Panthers are snake-bit at Rattler Stadium. Hull-Daisetta pulls off the upset!! Hull-Daisetta - 22 Mart - 15 Panthers claw their way to a victory in cat-fight. Kirbyville Shocked!! Anahauc -36 Kirbyville - 29 Anahauc's annual Gator Fest, cancelled by Hurricane Ike actually took place yesterday in Baytown at Stallworth Stadium. Bruins Prevail!! West Brook - 38 Dickenson - 20 Two seperate reports of wild horse stampede's in The Woodlands and Dayton. Broncos and Mustangs ride to Victory!! Dayton - 32 Elgin - 15 West Orange Stark - 35 Caldwell - 8 Reports of Massacre at Indian Stadium. Few Oilers survive Bremond onslaught. Bremond - 48 West Hardin - 20
  4. I used to be the one raggin on yall's coach, but I've buried that hatchet and I'm rooting for the Panthers this week as well. Thanks for you're support of the Bobcats.
  5. I've never been a fan of the Anahauc Panthers. I'm probably the happiest person in Texas to see their coach there in Anahauc, since that means he's not at HD anymore. With that being said, I would LOVE to see Anahauc pull this one off somehow. Kirbyville is the better team, no question. Can they win by 30+ points?, without a doubt. But you know what, that's why they play the game. There are tons of examples of great teams losing to overacheiving teams, and in the playoffs, it's one and done. Anahauc isn't a pushover and I promise you, they have a pile of athletes this year. All you Kirbyville fans, I think if the game is even within 14points, most of you should be eating that famous Crow you like to bring up. Big Bird I know you're coming up with a scheme to shut these boys down!! I'm not a total believer, but I'm a total supporter. Go Panthers!!!
  6. That was Dakari Pearson, who went on to start at DB for Texas. That was a heck of a game between Dayton and PNG with standing room only and everyone in purple and white!! Dustin Long was hookin up in the first half with one of the Coburn twins for about 6 or 7 completions and a couple TD's with Pearson only playing QB. The second half he played both ways and locked down on Coburn I want to say holding him without a catch in the second half and helped shutdown PNG's offense. Long vs. Pearson was one very good matchup of two completly different great quarterbacks. Pearson was one heck of a player!!
  7. Maybe not with the top three I listed, but easily fits in with those Anahauc guys and Spikes. He was a two time All-State RB, and All-State basketball three years.
  8. I'll stick with some small school guys that I've seen play or played against: Brian Gamble - QB/LB, Alto, Texas A&M Tony Bua - RB/LB , Liberty, Arkansas, Dolphins Rodney Thomas RB, Groveton, Texas A&M, Oilers/Titans/Falcons Jeff Spikes, RB Burkeville Joe Allen Slack, RB, Hull-Dasietta The Anahauc QB/FB/RB backfield of #1, #2, and #3....Micheal Ricks, Walter Terry, Jason Speights...all went to SFA together Being from HD, we heard all about how awesome Parnell Lykes was in the mid 70's. State record holder for years in discuss, state champ in shotput, and he was a champion 100m sprinter :o . From what I understand after his family moved to Florida his kid brother was a decent player too......Warren Sapp. Anyone remember a really good running back from Beaumont Kelly in the late 80's? I remembered they called him Kelly's Comet!!
  9. Looks like a Stevie Wonder projection instead of Stevie Ray.
  10. Great post Mr. Reality. Give yourself alot of credit as well, as you've had a major influence in molding a bunch of these guys into the quality young men that they are today!! I love this group of guys and can only hope the future is as bright as the present and that our community is blessed with outstanding athletes and men like these are. Great sportsmanship, work ethic, attitude and determination are the words I like to use to describe these Bobcats. We will be proud of you guys no matter what the outcome, but in my heart, just like all true Bobcats that know this team, I know that we will win Saturday night. I don't think we will win, I know we will win. You guys are truly champions and your parents, relatives, friends and community are very proud of what you have already accomplished and of what you will attain over the next 4 weeks. Coach Slack major props to you as well. You were one the guys I looked up to in Jr. High and wanted to be just like and I'm proud to be able to call you a friend. You've done a great job leading these men into battle week after week. Keep up the good work. And to all Hull-Daisetta players, fans, alumni and supporters, remember, Bobcats Fight, Never Die!! [move]GO BOBCATS!!!![/move]
  11. They played and lost to 8-2 Tenaha who just lost a nailbiter to Cayuga in the first round, which were two teams with 3rd/4th round potential that unfortunately met in the first round. HD didnt' have the speed to play 48 minutes with Marlon McClure and Tenaha and lost 48-22. HD also played 7-3 playoff team in 2A Hardin and HD won that game 27-24. Hardin is still alive in the playoffs and has a good chance of advancing to the Regional Semi's after this week. Both of these games were the first and second games of the season. The Bobcats have the same kids on the field they did then, they are just hitting on all cylinders now. We're much better than we were 2 months ago, and we were pretty good then. Our district is not known as a power my any means. HD was upset by Evadale 6 weeks ago and they have used that a springboard for momentum and preparation for each contest. We outscored our district oppenents 332 - 54. That includes the loss to Evadale, West Hardin's fling at the final buzzer and the 21 points Colmesneil scored on our JV in the second half. So our average district score was HD - 55 Opposition - 9. Just giving you some information on your question. HD - 27 24 - Hardin (2A playoff team) HD - 22 48 - Teneha (1A playoff team) HD - 32 6 - Warren ( 2A) HD - 55 0 - Burkeville * HD - 6 16 - Evadale * (1A playoff team) HD - 47 3 - Chester * HD - 58 21 - Colmesneil * HD - 64 0 - Sabine Pass * HD - 39 8 - West Hardin *(1A playoff team) HD - 63 0 - High Island * Totals: 413 - 126
  12. Wow, that's faster than the NFL. Anahuac's D could stop the New York Giants with that speed. Unbelievable...literally. Come on bro, that's impressive speed, but not NFL speed...lol. Again, they don't have 290lb defensive ends and 320lb DT's in the mix either. Only a couple kids of the 11 over 200lbs, so I think 10 of 11 running 4.7 and down 40's is totally believable, impressive, but totally believeable. Now if I cam on here saying they've got linebackers running 4.4's and DB's running 4.3's, then I'm full of crap and don't know what I'm talking about. I'm a country white boy who played at 225lbs and ran in the high 4.5's to low 4.6's range, so I know them boys from the Whack can do it. P.S. I don't really think Anahauc is going to win, and I made that clear, but OMG if they do!!! All this talk of them eating crow, i'd hate to see how much blackbird all these K-Ville fans will be swallowing for another 9 months if Anahauc pulls off the upset....lol. Good luck to both teams, but I'll be pulling for the Panthers.
  13. That lose is what we needed !!! It might be the reason we win State !!! THANKS !!! GO BOBCATS !!! ;D Don't get ahead of yourself there. You have to beat Mart first. I have seen them play. Facing them is like running into a Mac truck at full speed. We've got a Peterbuilt that eats Macs for breakfast. He goes by the name of Keith Gilmore.
  14. so ur thinking anahuac will have almost twice as good as offense as corrigan-camden or some of the big 3A's kirbyville has played? I'm saying you can't teach speed, and the Panthers have it. I don't think they are gonna win the game, but I think it's gonna be closer than most are projecting, that's all. P.S. That freshman the other guy was talking about really is all that. He'll be the next Tremain Thomas type small school guy in the next couple years. I think he's also the fastest player on the team as a freshman, which includes the district's returning 100m champ from last year. Yeah, the kid is sick.
  15. We're just lookin for posterboard material Rab. Whatever may help fire the boys up. I don't have a problem with ya at all, and you are correct, it would be a big upset. When the opening whistle blows in Navasota, there will be a whole lot of people wondering why they haven't heard anything about HD this year. I promise you other than depth, they can matchup with any team in the state in 1A. They could have done that a few times over the years, but they never had their minds right to know that was the case. We'd see Alto or Groveton or Mart and think...here we go again. This group of guys are more focused, determined and fearless than I've seen in a long long time. It also helps that they have a pile of very good athletes. Good luck to Normangee against Evadale, but I gotta pull for D23 to make another big upset ;D
  16. Chicken Nugget, that punk's not from HD. He's an Evadale kid who didn't have the guts to get on the field and play with the Rebels. Us HD folks have swallowed our pride and given Evadale all the credit due for puttin a whippin on us. Yeah we didnt' play our best game, but Evadale had a heck of alot to do with that. It's helped us become a better team, and as BIGMO stated, it's also helped Evadale know they can play with good calibur teams. I hope Evadale kills the Normangee Panthers and shuts all the cocky fans from D22 up. I don't know if it's gonna happen, but I'll be rootin for the Rebs, and realistically they can win.
  17. That Keith Gilmore from HD is something else. He's big (prob around 6'1" 200lbs.) and has decent speed. He has his flaws and will develop more, but Good Lord that dude is a head hunter. I don't know how many helmets he's knocked off and how many guys he'd shut the lights out on this year. He's a force to be reakon'd with on kickoffs too, cause someone is gettin lit up. The best part about him playin linebacker is that he's just nasty. I had a great defensive coordinator who use to say to play on his defense you had to play like an a**hole. Keith's got that part down...lol. ;D I want to see how good WO-S's lil QB turns out too. I'll be looking forward to seeing him over the next couple years as well.
  18. I'll be (gulp) pulling for the Oilers in this one too. Copeland better play like a mad man and get lots of support to make this one a game. My prediction: Bremond - 48 West Hardin - 20
  19. K-Ville will be suprised with how much speed Anahauc brings to the table. 10 of their 11 starters on defense (other than their big DT) run sub 4.7 40's. That's pretty dat gum good speed in 2A ball. I don't know if Anahauc can pull it off, but I don't think it'll be a huge blowout. My prediction: Kirbyville - 42 Anahauc - 26
  20. Here's some interesting stats, projections, and rankings for the area 1A teams if anyone is interested. All three teams are under-dogs against their 22A opposition. All three are also ranked in the bottom half of the 48 teams left in 1A according to the Padilla poll. Of the remaining 48: #29 Hull-Daisetta #30 Evadale #48 West Hardin The predictions are as follows: #13 Mart by 10pts over Hull-Daisetta #21 Normangee by 6pts over Evadale #27 Bremond by 21pts over West Hardin The Oilers get to play the lowest ranked team despite qualifying as the 3rd place team. If they are able to pull off the win, they'd get fairly lucky again by having to play the winner of #19 Cayuga vs. #41 Bowie. After that it gets pretty nasty, as Div.II Reg III is loaded. Evadale has a winnable game vs. Normangee who is favored by only 6 points. Unfortunately for the Rebels, they have to play the winner of #4 Maud vs. #15 Grapeland in the next round if they win. It's even rougher after that unless the Oilers make it through the Reg III guantlet to matchup with the Rebs in the Regional final. Hull-Daisetta is playing the highest rated team, in D22 champion Mart. If they win this one, they have the easiest road to the state championship game. They will play the winner of #16 Alto vs. #46 Hawkins. HD would only have to get through one top 10 1A team (#8 Goldthwaite) which would be in the state-semifinals before most likely running into DI favorite #3 Canadian. With the bye's and only one team going Division I, Hull-Daisetta only has to win 4 games for a state championship!! Win this week and they are in the Region Final/State Quarterfinals. Pretty crazy. [move]Let's Go Bobcats!!! Let's Go District 23A It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog!!![/move]
  21. Or the defense you broke out on HD. Don't miss tackles, play assignments and keep contain. Evadale you can win this game. They beat a top ranked team in the first round that was probably over-confident. Normangee probably didnt' expect to be here right now, so they will be vulnerable. Play your game, slow it down and just pound it for 4 yards and a pile of dust. Good luck Rebs. P.S. The farther you guys make it in the playoffs, the better it makes us HD folks feel when we bring up the "we shoulda won that game" talk that we like to bring up!! ......lol. If you guys were playing Itasca, I would say Good Luck, you're gonna need it. Against Normangee you can matchup better and slow it down. A winnable game if you play hard and don't make mistakes.
  22. Unfortunately I know you're right. Mart's got an experienced staff and knows how to make a deep run in the playoffs, and that's one game at a time. Wishful thinking on my part, but ya never know. They know they are the favorite and should probably win the game. They will be prepared and will be ready, just as Hull-Daisetta will be.
  23. Just based on the polls, predictions and some forum talk on 1Atexasfootball.com. Mart is supposed to be some highly feared monster and they are already looking forward to playing Alto in the Regional Final next week. Most projections have Mart making the state championship game in Div.I. One of the Mart posters went as far as to say (with some others agreeing) that if HD beat Mart, it would be the biggest upset of the entire season!! I hope their kids feel the same way.
  24. Aaron Cook - Hull-Daisetta Mitch Villamez - Hardin Denoir McNeil - Anahauc I'm sure K-Ville and Newton have a stud or two as well, but i haven't seen them play this season. I'd love to see A.Cook line up in a 4A/5A backfield to see how he'd do, but thankfully he's at HD. IMO, he's the best small school back in the area. With that being said, C.Mike from W/B is the best back in Southeast Texas, hands down. Best small school back maybe in the state: Traylon Shead - Cayuga Dude is a beast and almost unstoppable at the 1A level.
