HD has been playing some great football and they are honestly better than anyone gives them credit for being. If we play our game and don't turn the ball over, HD has a great chance of winning this game despite being a huge underdog. My prediction: Hull-Daisetta - 22 Mart - 15

I got on him pretty hard about being too hardcore and I think it got to him for a minute. You guys enjoy this time while it lasts though, cause the old HD55 will be back soon, I promise!!! ;D Good luck to all the teams in the district. Let's make them folks in D22 eat their words, as they all predict an easy sweep of us in the playoffs.

well said but will say this he has helped get our boys fired up. so we love him for that Thanks Reality. And to everyone that reads my posts, I would like to say most of the time I am joking around. I don't always mean to come off cocky and arrogant, but man I really love those H-D Bobcats !!! I played football here in H-D from being knee high to a grasshopper to a senior in Highschool. I was shaped and molded to always be a Bobcat to your dying day. With that being said and having my 9 year old son and 5 year old daughter being active in H-D pee-wee sports, the Bobcat pride is growing. I would like to say to all the Districts seniors, I really enjoyed watching you guys play your hearts out. In future years you will look back and realize these Friday Night Lights were the best times of your life. You will also wish you could go back and do it again. I am proud of all you seniors across the District. I have talked crap all year and believe me, there is a method to my madness !!! Coach Slack and staff yall did a great job in District. We are blessed with awesome Coachs. To all the H-D seniors ( Aaron Cook, Tre Dickerson, Sam Elliott, Scottie Gilmore, Matthew Dees, De'Andre Fountain, Jacob Fregia, Dustin Huckaby, Cody Mayon, Kevin Thompson, and Derek Roberts ) we are proud to call you young men Bobcats, we love ya'll. Saturday night in Navasota all the eyes of the past Bobcat greats will be on you. The stands will be filled with red and black and the small towns of Hull and Daisetta will be empty. On Saturday night in Navasota against a Mart team that knows not the Wrath and Furious Anger that H-D will bring upon them, you young men will be the most important thing on earth in the minds of your Bobcat community !!! We will be victorious !!! GO BOBCATS !!! If I left anyone out please forgive me. That's what I'm talking about!! Great post Cinco Cinco!!

BIGMO44, it's 5 weeks later and I'm gonna post something about Evadale too. I wanna say thanks to the Evadale team for playing a great game and teaching our kids a lesson. The loss to Evadale was a huge eye-opener for the Bobcats. Since that game, their intensity has been 10 times higher than it was before. Practice is being taken even more seriously than before and the one game at a time mentality is being used without a doubt. I know everyone wants to win every game, but I honestly think losing a tough game to the Rebels has done more for Hull-Daisetta this season than winning would have done. Of course finishing the regular season at 9-1 and District Champs looks better than 8-2 and District Runner Up, but at this point it doesn't matter, because we were going Division I playoffs reguardless. Congrats to Evadale on the district championship and good luck in the playoffs. As hard as it is to say it, good luck to the West Hardin Oilers too. Represent the district well. Everyone on here that just sees HD is playing a powerhouse in Mart and just assumes they are going to take it to the Bobcats needs to think again. I promise you HD is gonna give Mart all they can handle Saturday night in Navasota. Good luck Bobcats and stay focused. One play at a time boys. [move]Let's Go Bobcats!!![/move]

One down, four more teams to go. Next on the slate is Mart. Keep up the intensity guys and play like mad-men like you did today against the Cards. Stay focused and work together and you boys can accomplish anything. Way to play like champions today against a tough High Island team that was just out-manned. I'm not going to name names on this post because you all played with heart and determination and keeping the drive alive. I will say this....Tre and Keith, way to turn the lights out a few times if you know what I mean. Bring On Mart!!!! Remember, There is no limit to what can be accomplished when nobody cares who gets the credit!!
-
I'd like to say that my thoughts and prayers go out to the Gilmore family for their loss. If Scotty and Keith can't be there, I know the rest of the Cats will be bustin butt to play this one for them and their family. Overcoming tradgedy has become an unfortunate common theme for highschool football in Southeast Texas this year. I know the Cards will be fired up for this one, but I think HD will be too much for them, (although I did say the same thing about Evadale this year..lol). I know this will be a hard-fought battle and the boys from HD are treating this one like a Bi-District playoff game. For everyone else it's playoff time and High Island is, or is pretty close to a playoff team this season. Good luck to both teams and I'll see everyone there. Working these 13 hour nights make it kinda hard to get there, but I'll be there to support the fightin red and black. Sam, Aaron, Tre, Yancy, Kevin, Matt and the rest of HD's leaders, this is championship time. This is where it all starts and you've gotta come together as one moving towards that ultimate goal of a state championship. This is the final prep for Mart and Alto and all those teams that stand in your way. I know you can do it!!!! Hit Hard, Play Fair, and be Victorious

Just when Rudy actually got in the game. He was running around freakin out. That was special. Al Pachino's speech was a classic on Any Given Sunday. I also liked on Rudy when they were'nt going to let him suit up, and all the players one by one came in and told the coach that Rudy could wear thier jersey as they layed them on his desk. -
I've been pulling for the Cards all year long, and they have a scrappy team that plays tough and to the whistle. With all that said, unfortunately I don't think they can compete with Hull-Daisetta this year. If HD comes out flat like they did against Evadale then it may stay close for a little while. Another scenario could be that coach Slack pulls alot of key players to make sure they are healthy for the playoffs. I don't really see the Cards gettin a heavy dose of the Cookie Monster because we need him 100% healthy for the playoffs. My prediction: Hull-Daisetta - 49 High Island - 6

You've got a running back & we have a quarterback! Take those two boys out of the picture and I believe that WH has the better overall talent, especially on defense. I don't want to get into a pissing contest with anyone, so I'll let our boys do the talking on Friday night! See ya'll there! Go Oilers!!! WELL GUESS WHAT WE HAVE A QUATERBACK ALSO AND SEEMS TO ME COMMON SENSE SAYS HE WON THE MATCH UP BETWEEN QB. THE SIGN ON WH SIDELINE WAS BACKWARD WHERE IT SAID #2RUN #5 IS AFTER YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE OTHER WAY Didn't Elliot throw a nice little pass TO Copeland? No, he didn't. That was right before the half when HD did a direct snap to Cook and he threw it up for grabs, not Elliot. ;D

Yes I'm saying HD could compete in 23AA. I think beating the only two teams we played from the district confirms that, especially since one of them (Hardin) is a playoff representative. If we'd have got a shot at Kountze that was cancelled because of the hurricane, we'd have been 3-0 vs. 23AA opponents. I think that alone justifies the fact that the Bobcats could at least compete in the 2A district. HD does have a very good team this year, I know that and plenty of other folks, although some don't want to admit it know it as well. Hardin is pretty darn good this year too. I'm just saying if the two teams played again, it'd be a war like it always is, and could go either way. Ohh well, who knows. I hope Hardin does well in the playoffs. It looks like they have the best draw in the playoffs. -

bushpilot, why are you such an HD hater? Yeah, we beat Hardin by three points, but a win is a win. Hardin hasnt' beat anyone all season that has beat HD, the Bobcats have a better record than Hardin, and bottom line is HD beat Hardin head to head. I think that's plenty enough to be ranked higher. I think both teams have improved and it would be another great game. Coach Haynes has found the recipe for success at Hardin. Put a Hull-Daisetta kid at quarterback and let him go!! It worked with Jordan Nolan and now Myles Taylor is kickin some butt too. Add a great running back from Anahauc in Villamez and there ya go, Hardin is winning. Keep up the good work and good luck in the playoffs, but in all fairness I don't think the Hornets should be ranked ahead of the Cats either. -

HD is bringing the heat. Aaron Cook is healthy and rumbling. HD - 18 WH - 0 5min left in 3rd qtr -
I don't know where you get this "Cook out for most of the game" stuff at. He played the entire game except for the 4th quarter when on that hit he hurt his knee. He was getting stuffed all night. Even in the first quarter Cook couldn't run right, left or up the middle. And he's a tremendous athlete! He did bust a punt return for about 60 in the 3rd q though. Watching him cut and juke sure didn't look like any injury to me. Watch the game tape. Cook was injured on his second carry of the game. He was helped off the field after an Evadale DB in open space dropped to his knees and took his knee out (nothing wrong with that, he was outweighed by about 50lbs.) He sat out the rest of the first quarter. He came back in but was not at full strength, I promise you that. He suffered the sprained MCL in the first quarter, he just toughed it out. Yes, Evadale shutdown and injured Aaron Cook, but they would not have stopped him the whole game if he was 100%. HD's offense from the first possesion on out was not the same offense they've been the whole year without AC. We're talking about the same Aaron Cook that single-handidly outrushed Hardin's fearsome backfield of Mitch Villamez and John Stelly combined this season. The same back that had 100 yards in every game despite not playing the second half in just about every contest. The same back that has rumbled all over powerhouse Groveton for the last two years in the playoffs. Nobody has slowed down the Bobcat offense with him healthy in the backfield, and it won't happen in Batson this Friday night. Anyway, getting off this topic, Evadale won, game over, it's done....lol. West Hardin will not slow down this offense either, not one bit. There's going to be alot of emotion going into the game, and alot of big hits, but the Cats are way too much for the Oilers this year. Copeland might break a couple small runs, but that's all their getting. As far as the comment made about taking Cook and Copeland out of the picture, this game would be a blowout. I'll give it up that Cook and Copeland are the two best athletes that will be on the field. After that, I'd be willing to bet that 8 of the 10 best atheltes left on the field belong to Hull-Daisetta. This is a team that will not be stopped. If West Hardin wins this game, I promise you will not hear any excuses whatsoever from me. There will be no excuse for losing to West Hardin this year. Losing to Evadale hurt, but the Rebels have a talented, diciplined, well coached team full of atheltes. Losing to WH is unacceptable, and it will not happen. Hold me to it, tell me I'll be eating crow, talk all the smack you want, but this game will be all Bobcats, I guaratee it!!! The HD boys and fans were let-down and stunned by the loss to Evadale but they are using it as a learning experience and fuel to fire their path towards the playoffs. Unfortunately the Oilers are in the way and will feel the wrath of an upset Bobcat team that is so fired up and energized it's rediculous. Good Luck Bobcats and Oilers (yall are gonna need it Friday night)

I have to say a little something about what HDBOBCAT55 said. I do agree that HD did play by far their worst game of the year against Evadale. Did the Rebels have alot to do with that;? Very much so, but not totally. Let's put the shoe on the other foot and let me honestly ask you if you would have some thoughts of what should have been. How bout a hypothetical situation to think about...... Let's say HD won the game vs. Evadale, 16-6. And within that game, Evadale's star player (the District MVP) that is their leading tackler on defense and accounts for 65% of thier total offense is injured early in the 1st quarter. He guts it out and plays about 2 1/2 quarters, but not at full strength. You committ over 150 yards in penalties, including 7 fifteen yard penalties, which helps account for 45 of the 55 yards on HD's last score. You drop two sure touchdown passes along with four other dropped passes, by players that havent' done that all season. You also have 4 turnovers, including an interception in which the WR made the wrong read on the coverage and the pass was thrown where he should have been and two fumbles that were miscue's due to backup players in the game due to injuries. You havent' committed those type of turnovers all season long. All this takes place while trying to adjust your offense from not having your main threat. All this while playing on at a neutral site instead of at home. If this game was played again, the chances of a different outcome are defintely there. I think if this would have taken place from Evadale, Rebel fans would feel a little bit of resentment and what could have been mentality. Bottom line is scoreboard, and that's all that matters. Evadale won, and played their butts off and deserved to win. Injuries, penalties, and dumb mistakes are part of the game and preperation. I'm just asking to look at it from a Bobcat fans' point of view. I promise you those mistakes will not be made against West Hardin. The intensity will be even higher and those dumb penalties WILL NOT occur. HD will be back to it's orginal form that's led them to their 6-2 record with wins over 2A's Hardin and Warren and outscoring other district oppenents 224 - 24. I can't wait for Friday night!! Good luck to both teams and it will be a hard fought game as usual.

Congrats to the Bulldogs. That's a hard fightin scrappy team that deserves a big win.

WEST HARDIN VS EVADALE UPDATES/REBELS WIN!!!
HDBobcats9 replied to WHALUM's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congrats to Evadale. Their defense is something to be seen. They fly to the ball and DO NOT miss tackles. They did that against HD and I figured it'd be more of the same against the Oilers tonight and it sounds like it was. The Rebels put the brakes on Aaron Cook from HD and now Tyler Copeland from WH, arguably the two best athletes in the district. Good luck to both teams. Oilers, we'll see you guys next week in the "Oilfield Brawl" (I think that's what I'm gonna start callin the HD/WH game ;D) -
