  1. West Hardin - 42 Colmesneil - 26
  2. Well said, and good luck to the High Island Cardinals.
  3. The Bucs are too much for the Hornets in this one. East Chambers - 32 Hardin - 15
  4. You're right, HD and Newton haven't played since 1980, so who knows how it would have went through those years. In case you haven't realized, HD is a heck of alot better this year than they were last year. That was the only games I had to go on, so I went with it. The last time the two faced off was 1979, and HD won 17-0, and we went on to win a state championship that same year. So until we play again, HD still is reigning champ ;D I'm telling you guys right now, this HD team is really, really good. Last year we were pretty good, and won a district title in a really weak district. This year I think we can cause some noise in the playoffs and maybe go a few rounds deep if matchups fall our way. I guess we will just have to wait and see. First things first, is a tough Evadale team. Prediction: Hull-Daisetta - 38 Evadale - 12 P.S. Reguardless of what ya say, I promise you this Bobcat team isn't scared to play anyone, even the mighty Eagles of Newton.
  5. We'll play Newton anytime they want. Word was we were trying to get Newton when Kountze didnt' want any after the Hurricane. The Bobcats may not beat Newton, but I guarentee you them Eagles would know they were in a game when it was over. Here's some history for you as well sir..... Since 1950: Hull-Daisetta and Newton have played a total of six times. The series is knotted at 3 wins each! Total Points scored : Newton - 64 Hull-Daisetta - 68 That's about as close as you can get. We ain't scared though, i promise ya that!!
  6. I can see why you and many others say they have no respect, fear and love for H-D. Let's face it H-D has been handing West Hardin and many others across the area their butt for over 50 years. Talk to people across Texas and they know about them Bobcats since the 30's. So watch your mouth you sound stupid. i don't know where you get that HD has been handing teams butt whoopins because in recent years i don't really know of anyone HD has been beating consistently yes they might have been good in the 30's but i cant even remember the last time HD won a playoff game Sorry, I just had to get involved in this. I did a little historical research (most of the credit goes to WOS87) just to see how HD has faired against a few of it's rivalries in recent memory. Here ya go....... From 1990-2008 Hull-Daisetta vs. West Hardin: HD leads the overall series 14-5. Points scored : HD - 341 WH - 175 Hull-Daisetta vs. Hardin : HD leads the overall series 10-3. Points scored : HD - 411 Hardin - 222 Hull-Daisetta vs. Deweyville : HD leads the overall series 16-2. Points scored : HD - 421 Deweyville - 142 Hull-Daisetta vs. Warren : HD leads the overall series 12-2. Points scored : HD - 395 Warren - 216 That's not a bad record for the last two decades if you ask me. This includes games when HD was 1A, while WH, Hardin, Deweyville and Warren were 2A, as well as games when HD was 2A and Hardin was 3A. Just some food for thought. *hd vs. dewyville actually goes back to 1986 to get more games* No scores were available on eight total games, only win losses, so the scoring total is off somewhat. All eight games with no score recored were HD wins.
  7. HD - 42 Burkeville - 0 Halftime
  8. I wonder when you say HD in this statment above, are you referring to HDBobcat 55, or Hull-Daisetta in general? As far as the sinkhole, it happened and we dealt with it, just like the people of High Island are dealing with the aftermath of the hurricane. Although I don't neccesarrily agree with the statement made by HDBobcat55 about not rebuilding the community, I think he made it clear that he wishes nothing but the best for the people of the HI area and he didnt' deserve to be bashed by you for stating his opinion in a positive manner. If the remark was made in reference to our entire community I would like to say a few words about that. I wouldn't consider myself trashy although I do consider myself a very compassionate person. I also have a college education, a great career, a wonderful family, and have never suffered from any type of drug addiction. I feel pretty confident that several other individuals within the Hull-Daisetta's population are in the same boat. With that being said, please do not make an idiotic statement in your own right by irrationally generalizing an entire community based on your lack of intelligence and inability to understand reality and use common sense. Please refrain from making any other ignorant remarks if there's anyway possible. I'm going to leave it at that and not engage in a war of words with you bushpilot, because we both know how that will turn out. (the same way it did when HD played Hardin) I hope to see the Cardinals on the field soon and would like to say good luck to the people of High Island and surrounding areas devastated by Hurricane Ike, and God's speed in recovery and regaining normalcy.
  9. I agree with you on a couple of points, however, we'll just have to agree to disagree on the others. Good luck to HD. Agreed!! Good luck to Deweyville as well ;D
  10. HD beat Deweyville in a scrimmage when Deweyville threw 80 percent of the time trying out the new offense, when we did run the ball HD didn't stop Deweyville. New Coach with totally new offense/defense being taught in a scrimmage does not mean squat now. Example, Deweyville ran 70 - 75 percent against HF in the game, HF is a good football team with good Coaching. The turnovers were caused by pressure and hits on the ball carriers/QB if you had seen the game you would know this, as far as HD being in this District we will never know cause they aren't, so your opinion that HD could compete in 23aa is one that is not shared by me. EC may beat Deweyville, this District is tough, the Champs I believe will have at least 1 loss due to the balance this year in the District. Ahh, but if you read my post it says "more times than not not" turnovers are a result of lack of timing and practice. You are right, I didn't see the HF vs. Deweyville game, but I did see the Deweyville vs. HD scrimmage, and the Pirates were not impressive, in my opinion reguardless of the offense they were running or trying to install. Hull-Daisetta was never stopped on their offensive snaps, while they shut down the Pirates and forced a few turnovers along the way. Deweyville just didn't seem to have alot of good athletes on the field. In small school ball it doesn't matter if you run the spread, zone read, wing-T, wishbone or anything in between, it all boils down to athletes in which East Chambers has the edge. You have your best 11 kids on the field, in hopefully the right positions for the most success for the team, and let 'em go. Heart and determination can be somewhat of a deciding factor, but only to a certain extent. Good luck to both teams and I won't even be sorry if I'm wrong, because I wouldn't mind seeing the Bucs go down, but this is just my opinion. P.S. As far as HD not being able to compete in the district, we've already handed Warren and Hardin their only losses, and dominated Deweyville in a live scrimmage (ohh yeah, that doesnt' count.....riiigght) who's only loss was in OT to Hampshire-Fanett. Anahuc looks to be weaker than all three of these teams and Kountze would have came down to the wire if that game wasn't cancelled due to the Hurricane. With all that being said, I think HD could at least "compete" in your district
  11. I'll say.... Hardin - 32 Anahauc - 12
  12. I think East Chambers and Buna will battle for the district championship. It will come down to Kountze against Hardin for the third spot, but I'm leaning towards Kountze. Friday night's Buna vs. Kountze game will be a big one, and I think will be a very competitive game with Buna coming out on top. 1. Buna 2. East Chambers 3. Kountze (Hardin)
  13. Sorry to intrude on this thread but I must have missed something during the dreaded excitement of Hurricane Ike. When did East Chambers fall off the wagon and Deweyville become a powerhouse? Deweyville hasn't done anything extraordinary this season to have so many folks picking them over the Bucs. The took an average at best 3A team in HF to overtime, big deal. HF had two days of practice in 3 weeks and their best two players did not play in this game. The Horns still domianated and doubled the total yardage of the Pirates. Turnovers, which is a result of a lack of practice and timing more times than not kept the Pirates in the game. EC on the other hand was slaughtered by Newton, but honestly what 2A in the area other than Kirbyville, would Newton not have done that to? I'm an HD guy, so all I can do is base it off of what I've seen compared to our team so far. Hull-Daisetta brought it to Deweyville in a scrimmage (I know, it's a scrimmage) and beat Deweyville handily. The way I look at it, HD could play with any teams in this district, with the exception of East Chambers and Buna. With that being said I think EC dominates the Pirates in this one. I'll be the first to eat a big plate of crow if this doesnt' happen. If that is the case either East Chambers is alot worse than I think, or maybe HD is alot better than anyone is giving them credit for.
  14. For the first time in my life, I agree with 55, but I really think (hope) WH can pull it out when the time comes. Having said that, my prediction...WH by two scores over the Jackets. If I'm wrong and Chester pulls it out over WH, this just might be the year Chester returns to the playoffs. What is the world coming to?? BIGMO is agreeing with HD BOBCAT 55!!! ??? ???.....lol West Hardin - 29 Chester - 18
  15. East Chambers - 28 Deweyville - 12
  16. I think the Bobcats win this one by as much as they want to. Coach Slack tends to pull off the dogs in the 2nd half, so it may not end up too bad. Hull-Daisetta Bobcats - 42 Burkeville Mustangs - 8
  17. I guess Hull-Daisetta should have beaten Hardin by a few more points, then maybe they'd actually be ranked ahead of the Hornets. ??? ??? ???
  18. You sure do talk a big game utfan. I'll tell you right now, there are very few 2A teams in the area that would even give Tenaha a ballgame. Just cause Kountze beat them last year, big freakin deal. Hardin beat down Koutze "last year", but HD took them out this year. West Hardin beat Kountze last year, does that mean that West Hardin would beat Kountze this year? I don't think so. The last time Kountze came to Hull-Daisetta, they were shutout 22-0 and HD had three fumbles inside the 10yd line about to score, so it could have even been worse. Last year is last year, and that doesnt' mean anything. Say what you wanna say, but HD is a good team this year, and I guarentee you they would have gave Kountze all they could handle this year, I promise you that. Kountze has twice as many students as HD so they should beat up on us, but they don't because Hull-Dasietta has good athletes and great tradition where Kountze has a great basketball program. Good luck beatin up on Evadale, and we will take out another 2A tomorrow night in Warren.
  19. HD should take this one going away. Too many athletes for the Warriors. Hull-Daisetta - 36 Warren - 12 P.S. Kountze sure did dodge a bullet with the hurricane coming through!!
  20. As far as HDBobcat55's projections, he's on his own in what he says, although we agree most of the time. We were dominating Groveton in the playoffs two years in a row, only to let depth play a role in Groveton's second half comebacks. They are now in 2A and we dont' have to deal with them anymore. As far as Kountze, I think HD will take this one. I don't believe either team will blow the other one out, but it will be a very good game going either way. Two years ago the Lions game to Daisetta with high hopes, only to fall 22-0 to a Bobcat team that isnt' as good as this one. (not that Kountze isnt' better this year as well.) Tenaha was just too damn fast, there's not many teams 3A down in the Golden Triangle that can run with them, I promise you that. As far as being 5'9", you need to check your source, cause 55 hasn't been 5'9" since about 6th grade......lol. He's 6'4" 300lb+ ;D
  21. Rooting for Hull Daisetta That's funny UKCats....lol ;D
  22. Kountze - 34 Evadale - 14
  23. I think Buna takes the district with East Chambers and Kountze battling for second/third. Hardin is a candidate as well to sneak into the third spot. There will be a major upset again this year, just like last season. A clearcut front-runner will be rolling through the district only to have Anahauc, Hardin, or Warren upset them. I don't know if the district is really weak, but it will definitely be very competitive. Just about every week will be a battle. I wish HD was in this district this year to see if we could get a playoff spot...lol.
  24. I am impressed with HD's coaching staff. They have a good mix of youth and enthusiasm and vetran leadership and toughness. I don't care if Vince Lombardi himself was coaching the Bobcats last night, Tenaha still wins that game. The score may have been closer, but the outcome would have been the same. The kids played hard, and left it all on the field. When you play a team with 6 or 7 kids who are faster than your fastest player, that tends to sway things. They spread you out in crazy formations, put their athletes on the field and create running lanes. Great job by Tenaha's coaching staff on utilizing the talent they have. Our coaching staff did fine with what they were facing and the kids played hard and a different bounce here or turnover there and who knows what would have happened. We will continue to improve throughout the season, and when playoff time comes we will be more prepared to face a team with the talent of tenaha.
  25. Good post Mr. Reality. Pretty dead on with your review of this one being closer than the score indicated. HD scored on their opening drive, then Tenaha does the same, locking the score at 7-7. HD fumbled their next possesion and Tenaha capitalized immediately, making the score 15-7 Tigers. HD drove down to the Tenaha 3yrd line before a holding penalty backed them out and they had to settle for a field goal, setting the 1st quarter scoring at 15-10. Tenaha scored on their next drive after HD dropped a sure interception, making the score 21-10. The closing moments of 2nd quarter saw HD complete a pass good pass, then spike the ball, stopping the clock with a spike with 3 seconds remaining, just enough time for a hail mary. What a bad turn of events the turned out to be, as McClure picked off the fling and proceeded to take it up the sideline 80+ yards for a TD with zero's on the clock. The halftime score was 28-10, Tenaha on top of HD. The Tigers played on a short field all night with HD choosing not to kick deep to triple-threat McClure. All of their possesions began at the 40+yd line. The second half was more of the same, with Tenaha spreading the formation and utilizing their crazy amount of team speed and athleticism their squad had. HD would have nice sustained drives, only to come up a little short or end in turnover. HD's stud RB Aaron Cook was taken out of the game with 5min left in the third quarter nursing a minor leg/ankle injury to prevent further damage. HD began substituting it's regulars at this juncture with the scrore 34-16. Tenaha tacked on two more TD's (with all their starters in) and HD added a nice TD drive as well. #5 Marlon McClure is the real deal! Last year he was TSWA 1st Team All-State at DB and WR and has offers from Texas Tech and U of H among others. That dude is just sick, probably the most explosive small ball player I've seen in years. I was blown away with Tremain Thomas of EC when I first saw him two years ago, and this kid is even more blessed than Thomas, just with less size. Hats off to the Tenaha Tigers, they are a team to be reckoned with, and should advance deep in the playoffs just as last year without major injury. The Bobcats fought hard and played with heart the entire game, they just didnt' have the wheels to keep up with those speed demons.
